People who go by names like this think they're being ironic, when in reality they're just shitheads. This ain't exclusive to rap artists: I know people from small towns, who just want attention, that pick the dumbest names possible so people will at least talk about them. That's my two cents anyways.

4
downvotetheboy Apr 2, 2026 +2
it doesn't have anything to do with intending to be ironic. they just choose bad names. usually thye'll choose their nickname or combine it with something else that's exactly how he landed on ["pooh shiesty"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aOGiE7sgDE)

5
apeflick Apr 2, 2026 +15
The reason rappers have names like that nowadays is because they get into rapping at a younger age than they used to, and so they end up becoming famous with names that they got when they were children hanging out with adults, and those names just stick. In the 90's rapping was not seen as a viable career so the only people doing it were people who had already been established in the streets and so they had more mature personas.
15
Witty-thiccboy Apr 2, 2026 +6
The same 90s that had “puff daddy” as one of the most popular artists lmao this dumbass opinion only exists amongst people that don’t even like rap

I want to make fun, but then in the 90's we had Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and other such names that likely sounded silly. Granted, they didn't sound like they were created by a toddler.

I recognize this is not my scene. I still respect rappers and musicians who are creating art... But Pooh Shiesty? Is this legit? Are they like a parody rapper?
10
truthfullyidgaf Apr 3, 2026 +3
No. Hes not. He's a idiot that does stupid shit. He just got out of prison for robbing and shooting someone while he was renting their vehicle. He was also charged with shooting a security guard accidentally because someone took 10k hanging out of his pocket while he was performing.
3
darkprussianblue Apr 2, 2026 +37
Is it though? “Man with long history of gang violence is robbed by two other people who also have ties to or a history of gang related violence” is essentially the headline. I know Gucci is more/less reformed or has chilled out the last few years, and I actually have no idea who the other two are or if they’re gang affiliated in any way, but the context of the article certainly points that way. I just don’t understand when people are like “Did you hear Shotgun McGee got shot by a gun??? Crazy world.” Like… yes… I can believe that.
37
Morganvegas Apr 2, 2026 +39
I think a lot of people think all rappers are just pretending. A lot of them are really doing the things they rap about lmao In the 2000’s, Gucci literally killed a man who was sent to kill him over some beef and then made several songs about it.
39
darkprussianblue Apr 2, 2026 +18
Yeah that’s what I’m saying 😭 Gucci famously sold tons of drugs in Atlanta; I’m assuming he also at least robbed a few people and I wouldn’t be surprised if he killed people. He lives that life. Also even if he didn’t, rappers are constantly wearing 6 figures worth of jewelry. Are we surprised that caught up with him???? If yes, I am envious of your innocence.
18
OzamatazBuckshankII Apr 2, 2026 +2
I think it’s more that rap stage names/nicknames get mocked by those who don’t listen to rap. Of course these names are foreign to you. Most don’t go by their real name like country artists for instance.
2
Morganvegas Apr 2, 2026 +4
Hell, half the country artists have a stage name too.
4
OzamatazBuckshankII Apr 2, 2026 +2
Right! And we don’t see half the bitching about their names lol
2
downvotetheboy Apr 2, 2026 +2
cause most rappers are pretending. like if lil uzi vert got shot by an uzi... i'd be surprised

😭bro said im getting out of this deal by any means how bad was his contract??
2
bawskeeworld9999 Apr 2, 2026 +9
Pooh sheisty was signed to Gucci Mane. Sheisty just got out of federal prison in October and was still in the half way house. Sheisty called for a meeting at a studio in Texas with Gucci and 2 other label executives. There was no reason for Gucci to be thinking he and 2 others were about to rob them and force sheisty off the label
9
darkprussianblue Apr 2, 2026 +4
Yeah I’m not saying Gucci should have expected it, just that it’s not that surprising. Again, headline reads: “recently released federal inmate named Shiesty was acting shiesty.” Uhhhh… you don’t say??? I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
4
downvotetheboy Apr 2, 2026 +2
how is an artist kidnapping and threatening the person they're signed to not surprising? yeah his shiesty is in his name but a lot of rappers dont live what they rap. plus the dude just got out of prison i dont think anyone expects to read a rapper kidnapped the person theyre signed to, regardless of their name
2
bawskeeworld9999 Apr 2, 2026 +2
The last time I’ve even heard a story close to this was when Suge knight forced Eazy E to release Dr Dre out his contract.

I wonder what Dallas is like these days. I used to live in a really bad area in the late 90’s where I’d have to push a mattress against the bedroom window because of gunshots 🥲 It’s probably gentrified these days I reckon.
40
Long-Region5088 Apr 2, 2026 +20
In the local hip hop community Ft. Worth is colloquially known as Nawfghanistan like Chicago is Chiraq or Philly is Killadelphia. Not exactly Dallas but local enough to let you know the more things change the more they stay the same. For more Dallas specific but a bit further back rapper Mo3 was gunned down on the highway, I-35E to be specific in 2020. His rival rapper Yella Beezy is currently awaiting trial for paying for his murder.
20
AMan_Has_NoName Apr 2, 2026 +13
Dallas native and current resident here. Nawfghanistan is actually the nickname for the bad areas of North Dallas. It’s been known as that for the longest and Mo3 called North Dallas this on several tracks. Fort Worth, on the other hand, is known as either Funky Town or Murder Worth.
13
Long-Region5088 Apr 2, 2026 +5

There are still plenty of bad areas like south Oak Cliff and such. Crime isn’t gonna go away lol
3
issi_tohbi Apr 2, 2026 +9
Oak Cliff was where I was! I was right across from a park thing on Sheldon avenue. Dallas is the place where I rolled up on a McDonald’s getting robbed and one of the lookouts in the drive thru line tried to carjack me. The place where I was held at knifepoint and assaulted. And other shit. When I immigrated to Canada and told them I had also lived in Dallas all they could picture was the TV show and thought it was like that.
9
jjbananamonkey Apr 2, 2026 +6
North Dallas is such a different place than south. I grew up in a bad area of north Dallas (spring valley if you’re familiar with streets in the area still) but it’s NOTHING like everything I’ve experienced in south Dallas. It really does depend on what part haha
6

It’s actually similar to the sorting hat from Harry Potter. Depending on which city you represent, you’re given a hat that decides your new alias. For example; Radric Delantic Davis wore an Atlanta Braves hat, which declared him Gucci Mane from that day forward.

These are some of the dumbest criminals on the planet posting videos of spoils from the robbery.

I remember back when poo shiesty went to prison the first time. Everybody was saying free poo shiesty. I read up on why he went to prison and it made me think dam….. maybe we shouldn’t free poo shiesty. Seems like a bad dude lol. I never thought his music was that great either. Like I enjoyed a couple songs from him but it always sounded like he was to fucked up on lean all the time. I feel like a lot of people overhyped him.
