"The police statement said the affected jars had a sticker with a red circle on the bottom of the jar and a lid that had already been opened or damaged or missing a safety seal, or had an unusual smell."

I'm from Austria. After an anonymous hint to the police that someone manipulated baby food glasses, some of these were found in supermarkets with broken safety seal. Some a****** did this on purpose. For what purpose, noone knows yet.

Rat poison is an anti coagulant, which is a horrible way for any creature to die. The antidote is vitamin K btw.
Surprisingly, it’s possible that rat poison could’ve been used in the factory or somewhere in the supply chain, so ‘potentially’ it would be a horrible accident.
Although I think the article is saying the safety wrapper is missing from the affected products.
