It really is wild how overconfident people are. The phrase “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth” is very true. Most people have this weird idea that fights in reality are like we see in movies, but real fights are short, messy, and whoever takes the first hard hit tends to lose all their steam.
The only time I’ve seen fights keep going is when people have had too much alcohol to numb their senses. Even then often that just means somebody takes a hit, they don’t feel it, but they fall like a cut log all the same.

I think it's impossible for people to comprehend that amount of muscle and the speed+power it produces unless they've gone looking for close footage of it.
Any guy who says he could beat a bear needs to watch 2 grizzlies fight and then say it again. For a tiger, try to capture and bathe an ordinary house cat against its will, then imagine it being 2 orders of magnitude larger
9
hiimred2Mar 23, 2026
+3
Anyone who thinks this just needs to go to a zoo and see how large these animals are instead of thinking about what the numbers on a computer screen say. A 600+ pound cat is F****** HUGE, it's more than 3 times the size of the largest dog anyone has ever seen in their life, and most people have at least seen some giant ass great danes or newfies or some shit. A grizzly bear is the size of a small car, and runs as fast as ones driving around commercial 35mph speed limit roads. There's a reason humans used spears and throwing weapons to conquer the lands, getting into close quarters combat even with a weapon against beasts like this is a death sentence even if you do some lethal damage back with your machete or whatever stabbing it in the eye or gouging its belly as it literally rips your face off.

It's dangerous to second guess yourself if you feel threatened. You land on answers and keep trying things in rapid succession to avoid danger/death because you are an animal that has a strong biological imperative to survive. It's why self defense is a "not guilty" plea.
If Alan felt threatened or felt his children were threatened then it really doesn't matter how the neighbor saw the situation. It's unreasonable to expect Alan to let time pass so he can think of a nonviolent resolution and honestly that's not his responsibility in the moment. He transformed a threat into a non threat and then showed discipline by staying his hand.
The neighbor doesn't have an innate right to confront Alan. He doesn't have any rights to say whatever he wants, act abrasive towards Alan, and he definitely doesn't have the right to try and intimidate Alan away from riding through shared streets. He believed he did and was proven wrong.
If anything, Alan is showcasing how you handle bullies who are physically threatening you (by defending yourself) and that scares a lot of people because they want protection and impunity to bully others.
In short? That neighbor should've behaved himself.

This is a well to do neighborhood and an entitled Karen didn't like Reacher riding on his motorcycle. He admitted that he flipped Reacher off in an earlier encounter and Reacher returned the gesture. In this encounter, the neighbor was conveniently light on the details. I'm thinking he did something dangerous that prompted Reacher to stop and ditch his bike to go beat his ass.

I’ve had a few people try to start fights with me and they were all hilariously smaller than me. Like a 5’3” (probably 150 lbs) guy once tried to shove me and he nearly fell over in the process.
I haven’t been in a fight since grade school (where I at least fought back), but the few adults that tried to fight me felt like I was getting attacked by a sixth grader or something.

TheCa11ousBitchMar 23, 2026
+17
I won’t be even slightly surprised if the neighbor did something that endangered the kids. Pushed one, threw something, grabbed their handlebars, jumped in front of one making them swerve… whatever.
I can’t see a man with his positive reputation just wailing on a dude in the middle of the street, mid day, with his kids.
Not saying AR was right to do it. Violence of any kind was likely unjustified, unless he was actively intervening in a physical attack. Doesn’t mean that it won’t be understandable when the details come out.
17
LokitusaborgMar 23, 2026
+29
I believe violence can absolutely be justified. We have this issue where people with positive values and a high moral compass care about doing what is right; and we have people who manipulate and take advantage of those people, believing that they can do so with impunity. They are called bullies. Having a strong man of conscience and conviction, one who can and will use violence in an appropriate way is a virtue.
In this article, the neighbor was seen as pushing Alan’s bike to the ground twice, baiting him to hit him. Bullies should not win, and they only understand one language. If more bullies were afraid of getting punched in the mouth for stepping out, perhaps they would think twice before being bullies. AR sure as hell metered himself. The guy got immediately back up and continued his behavior, getting in his face and jawing. That is what a bully does, and he was lucky he ran into a man of restraint and values.
29
GhettoRamenMar 23, 2026

Seriously, if he or his kids are being A&B’d, he’s supposed to be the “bigger man”?
It’s a nice idealistic thought, but we live in the real world where crazies can escalate or take your life away in a heartbeat.
I’m the last person to choose violence but I absolutely believe in the right to defend yourself.
Bullies don’t stop when you ignore them, they stop when they’re afraid of you or the consequences.

PsychologyOk1593Mar 24, 2026
+3
There's a video showing the entire altercation and it's 100% started and escalated by the neighbor, not Alan Ritchson.
From a legal standpoint, the neighbor is seen running in front of Alan Ritchson's bike, intentionally causing him to swerve and fall. The neighbor then yells at him and continues to confront him even as Ritchson tries to walk away and deescalate the situation. When Ritchson gets back on his bike and tries to leave, the neighbor AGAIN steps in front of him multiple times and then pushes him over. At that point Ritchson finally reacts and defends himself, and of course that's where the neighbor and TMZ start the story in order to cause controversy. Ritchson tried to walk away without a problem but was physically attacked a second time and defended himself.
Now, from a "street" standpoint, all of what I just wrote was happening in front of Alan Ritchson's two kids, which is something 99.9% of fathers/men would never put up with.

People love to try to fight big guys. It's a known thing. There's a primal urge in some guys to take down the biggest guy. Honestly it's probably some latent evolutionary thing in dudes / some level of "little man syndrome" even if the smaller guy isn't that small. Ritchson gave him an educational beat down, then drove off.

As soon as you speak in hyperbole in combination with an overly specific timeframe, I automatically don’t believe you.
Also, if he was travelling at “excessive speeds”, this loser wouldn’t have been able to make it out into the middle of the street to confront him. Highly doubt he’s speeding if he’s playing follow the leader with his kids following him.
More likely than not, I’d assume this guy thinks his street should be absolutely quiet at all times, and doesn’t think someone should ride a noisy motorcycle through it on…**checks notes**…a weekend afternoon.

Yeah, the placement of the bikes didn't make sense for the "He was speeding, I yelled, and he crashed" story.
Ritchson's kids were on their bikes right behind his own bike at the point of the video. If Ritchson was speeding when he went down, the kids would have presumably been going at a relative speed to him. Makes no sense that they were able to stop behind Ritchson's bike. They would have gone past the accident before they could stop and ended up in front of the bike.
It was pretty clear that the bikes were at a stop when Ritchson's went down, or at the very least were driving at reasonable speeds.
This story lines up with that way more.

Everyone talking like Richardson should be in "full control of his bike" and handled the situation better like he is f****** Jack Reacher.
The dude is an ACTOR, not some special forces commando. His kids were there. His adrenaline would be through the roof and an aggressive man that just assaulted you is near your kids. I've crashed a few bikes and sometimes "Is my bike in neutral or first gear?" is not the first thing on your mind.

I think he handled it about as well as you could. I mean, he didn't go apeshit on the guy. He tried to be the bigger man and leave. The guy kept pressing the issue to the point where he forced the confrontation. I mean, if you try to leave and a guy keeps pushing you off your motorcycle, you are at risk of physical harm.
Clearly, that that point, leaving is dangerous to you, so you are fully within your rights to defend yourself from an active threat.

Holy c*** I think I finally have oversaturated myself with celebrity news. I kid you not, I just woke up from a dream talking to Ritchson about this exact incident. For what it's worth, dream Alan was agitated and said he was doing whatever it takes to protect his kids. Dream me agrees with his stance, but real life me denies violence.
For what it's worth, we were both outside a middle eastern tailor store waiting to get fitted for a robe.

His bike was laying at the start of the video and he wasn’t expecting it to be on when he tried to get it upright. I’m assuming the neighbor knocked him off or caused him to fall off? I can imagine laying down my bike to get off and argue but who knows.

Another story where there's comment sections, says he races through that neighborhoods and the neighbors are fed up with it. Maybe some of those neighbors will release ring cameras

Id like to know what "racing" is, cause when I was a teenager I owned a gas scooter that could do like max 15mph and I had a neighbor that claimed we were racing around and hated the sound of thing.
People really hate bikes and the sound.

Nobody is going to "race through the neighborhood" with their two small kids on mini bikes behind them. Anyone that doesn't have the emotional regulation to not attack a person as they are riding by *with their kids* is not a person whose story I trust.

25
XraliusMar 23, 2026

Exactly. There's a primal urge in some guys to fight tall / strong dudes. I personally feel it sometimes (I don't fight people at all and I'm nice to everyone, I'm not a psycho). It's probably some aspect of "little man syndrome", something evolutionary as well, like crisscrossed wires to address a threat / achieve status.

4
whichwitch9Mar 23, 2026
+14
Yeah, the biggest tell was that nobody was arrested and even the dudes own kids weren't reacting to the neighbor getting beat.
If he seriously pushed a guy off a motorcycle while he was riding, he deserves the beating. That's incredibly dangerous. If he has a problem with speed, there's like a dozen other things you can do without getting physical
14
BuffaloWhipMar 23, 2026

Another big clue is that the neighbor has to cross the street after the “fight” to go home, and continues to try to escalate after Ritchson is back on his bike.
You don’t get to claim being the victim if you had to travel to get to the fight, and you definitely don’t get to pretend to be the victim when you continue to run your mouth while the other guy is leaving.

Bumblebeetuna789Mar 23, 2026

Who owns the dirt bike on the road? So it's ok for angry neighbor to ride on the street but not Alan and his kids?
5
brobasaur93Mar 23, 2026

That was my first observation when only the neighbors side was out. The neighbor has a lifted truck and a dirt bike. The noise wasn’t his motive since he owns two things on par as obnoxious

From the video, he looks in control too.
Ritchson is not “beating the c*** out of him”. He is trying to keep him down/hurt him enough so he stops fighting.
Some people are just assholes. I hope that Alan isn’t one of them.

I agree but you could have a conversation with him or call the cops if he doesn’t seem reasonable. Starting a physical fight with a 6’4 250 dude is not a smart play from any standpoint.
