I worked in film for 4 years in NYC, working with folks of all fame levels. The tie for rudest was between Rebel Wilson and Donnie Wahlberg

Rebel showed up 5 hours late to a shoot she was principal on, leaving most of the crew scrambling around pouring rain. When she got there, she was extremely rude to the crew, refusing to even acknowledge anyone but the director, being rude to her fellow actors. She stormed off set, leaving us waiting around for another 2 hours until she could be coaxed back out. Very much the epitome of Diva. Donnie, on the other hand, is just a f****** dirtbag. Worked with him a few times, I’ve never seen someone mock and berate crew quite like him. Insane to see such an ego on the less famous brother from a family. On a lighter note, the two most professional, kindest actors I’ve worked with were Jon Bernthal and Giancarlo Esposito. Makes me firmly believe that if you only ever play an a******, you’re most likely a big softy

I don’t doubt that about Giancarlo. He’s the only celebrity I got to meet in person and I can easily see why he has such a good reputation.

Once in NYC, I saw Denzel Washington across the street and yelled hello. He had just left the theater where was staring in Julius Cesar, facing down a literal mob of embonpoint black women, but he still made eye contact and gave me an exaggerated wink. I would die for him now.

Haha, I worked on that production! Got to meet Denzel, as was his way, the day before opening, or the last day of opening, forget which, the producer told us Denzel requested to meet us all and had us line up to each get to shake his hand. All I can say is I made him laugh, what I said I’ll never remember, but do remember he was charming to a default, easy smile and overall just a warm guy. This was like over 20 years ago.

God, dont remind me how long ago that was. I went to NYC once a month for 4 years to see a show (you'd have thought Id realized I was gay, but that took a bit longer). That time I had desperately wanted to see Julius Cesar but ended up at Dirty Rotton Scoundrels instead. I did get to meet Jon Lithgow, though, after the show.

So it’s close, but I’d give it to Jon Bernthal. Got to work with him on the Netflix Daredevil S2. I remember it was an action sequence day when he was shooting up a hospital. He was acting like a cold killer, but the second we went to lunch, he spent the entirety of lunch going around to every table thanking everyone for the hard work they were doing. It was a 14 hour slog of a day, but his kind words def made things easier. I’ve never seen another principal actor go around and personally thank folks like that.

Esposito was interviewed by the Cinema Therapy guys years back and that just made me respect him so much more
12

I will always +1 a Jon Bernthal shoutout. Based on the characters he plays it feels like it would be safe to assume he’s a dirtbag, but dude is an absolute gentleman. Had interaction with him back in Walking Dead days and the day he came on our show he literally went around and thanked everyone on set before he left from producer to intern
17
JJay9454 4 days ago +7
He wasn't necessarily standout nice or rude when I saw him on set, but he did not shut up about conspiracy theories. It was fun at first and quickly became "pretend you can't talk for some reason" whenever he was near

So in isn't it romantic her saying I chose me wasn't even in the script, the union crew quit the cameras just kept rolling and they left it in the movie?

Henry Zebrowski from Last Podcast was just talking about how Donnie would regularly tickle him between takes, jump on his back and ride him around while calling him big fat boy. Also said he'd kick these female mannequins in the crotch and yell "I kick you in the p****!"

For the record I worked Blue Bloods season 1 and 2 and couldn’t have a more opposite view of Donnie. The longer run shows have softball teams that production crew plays in on weekends. No actors actually play. Donnie played lead off. Showed up most weeks, and was super nice to be around. Also had crew put NKOTB fans in his personal trailer during a rain storm.

Heh, guy I used to work with had an altercation with Donnie when New kids were opening for Tiffany at the amusement park he worked at as a teen. He was just a huge d*** and did nothing worse than shoulder him a bit. He had to ask his little sister who they were and when he told her what happened she replied "Well, he's the bad boy in the group."
4
s_matthew 4 days ago +6
I always figured Donnie kind of had his tail between his legs. This is fascinating, if not completely predictable and understandable that a guy from a family where his younger brother with a criminal record and who beat the living hell out of a Vietnamese man while calling him racial slurs ended up having the much bigger career. Wonder what their parents are like?!

Did you see the big multi page story she posted about a month ago bitching and moaning that the European oligarch who funded this film didn’t seem to give a f*** when she complained about the workers in this lawsuit? Cry me a river, who would’ve thought the shady war profiteer wouldn’t help?
27
BornFree2018 4 days ago +25
To clarify, she mad that the oligarch didn't take her side in this dispute. Instead he backed the production team whom Wilson has multiple legal disputes with. She claims they accused her of being a bully and launching a PR smear campaign against them. It's actually kind of humorous how RW elevated this alleged situation (which didn't really have anything to do with her) into multiple lawsuits and the loss of her reputation..

It's a race to the bottom between those two. But I would say Rebel shat the bed harder because her number is actually one that has the potential to be good/entertaining when done by a decent performer. Bustopher Jones is a dumb, schlocky song, just bad writing by Weber. No one was going to do well with that material.

18
nigelst 4 days ago +33
Okay :) I was pulling focus on a multi-camera sitcom pilot where she was the star. There was one scene where she was alone with four cameras shooting. She insisted that the operators and assistants be blacked out with flags and duvatene while we were rolling. Made it ridiculously difficult for all of us well seasoned professionals to do our job. That’s all. It was enough for me to remember her as the worst person in front of or behind the camera ever :(.

He is a boom operator, he wanted to get in the pool with her to get clean audio, they asked, everyone said it was ok, he got in the pool to be closer for clean audio. She saw it and had him removed immediately from the set and fired. She's the worst.
339
Ill-Elephant-9583 5 days ago +272
It's the people who allow this which are also to blame, the producer should have just told her to piss off. He's doing his job which she knows nothing about. If she'd then refused to work she'd be in breach of contract.
272
FullofLovingSpite 5 days ago +26
That would not work out at all and could possibly tank the whole film. If she walked right then, you need full reshoots after casting someone new. You also need to rebook everyone and every location. It's easier to give in to the assholes like her and simply not work with them again in the future.
26
iamsotiredofthiscrap 5 days ago +35
This mentality is what is wrong with almost everything in the world today. Shitty, entitled people get a pass because, "we just won't deal with it next time." Horse shit. You allowed it once, you'll allow it again. And the next person will now have to deal with it. You didn't fix or prevent anything, you made it someone else's problem. Have some balls and stand up to people.
35
Kozeyekan_ 4 days ago +4
This reminds me of that scene from Mr Inbetween. "The world is full of arseholes Ray and you need to realise that" "Yeah and you know why? Cause people let them get away with it"

14
ScienceOfficer-Jack 5 days ago +4
While it is not right what is your solution? Tank millions of dollars of completed project?
4
JayKay8787 5 days ago +11
Have it in their contract that if they refuse to work they are liable for all expenses. Actors are such pissy babies they should honestly require insurance for this if they are a lead
11
Kozeyekan_ 4 days ago +3
The thing is though, actors have an amazing union. SAG-AFTRA could blackball anyone trying to impose that. They could still make movies outside of the union influence, but anyone trying to shift to cost of a whole movie onto a single employee would soon be relegated to D-list cast and crew. Ideally, the union would also fight just as hard for the Boom guy, and if they're doing their job, that guy would be made whole anyway (assuming they're a member) but there's every chance they'd prioritise a 'star' over crew. Also, Rebel may be an arsehole, but I do think that it's fine for everyone else to say 'it's probably alright' for the boom guy to get in the water, but she's the one in there while he's holding a live electrical device. If he trips, they get zapped unless there are appropriate safety devices in the setup, which when it's always so ad-hoc, can be missed. No need to get the guy fired at all, but getting him out of the pool if she was worried about being electrocuted is at least a bit understandable.
3
iamsotiredofthiscrap 5 days ago +6

103
Whateva1_2 5 days ago +61
Film unions are a bit different as its a union of contractors that take short stints of work. It's very easy to cite creative differences to get someone fired on film sets. The union is more agreements on pay and safety. The job security of other unions doesn't exist in film. Not saying I'm in support of it or not but one good thing about this is that it's not as big of a deal when someone in the union stops giving a shit about their job and they become impossible to fire. They simply build a reputation and won't get hired on the next job.

I want to confirm, because I read that twice and I'm still a little confused. Actress had an issue with a cold water reaction. Producer helped warm them up in a consensual manner. Wilson tried to use it as blackmail against the Producer. Is that right?
95
DeliciousStand372 5 days ago +67
Rebel posted a social media post claiming that actress disclosed to her (Rebel) that she (actress) was sexually harassed by the producer. the trial is to sue rebel for defamation from that soc media post. the actress said what rebel posted is not true. rebel is using the “sexual harassment“ to blackmail against BOTH the producer and the actress.

8
SoullessCycle 4 days ago +7
Flip it around - producer had the reaction, actress helped. Both in either clothing or bathing suits (I’ve read both). But yes end result: Rebel says actress said harassment, but then says actress changed her story because producer got actress other work. Actress says she said nothing of the sort.

4
quietgavin5 4 days ago +6
Her directorial debut just tanked at the Australian box office, debuting at number 13 with just $60000. Somehow, despite all the legal troubles, she directed another film with Randall Park and Jennifer Coolidge. I saw her first film The Deb and it's a very well made film so maybe if she stays behind the camera like Mel Gibson then maybe she can survive that way.
6
StraightBudget8799 4 days ago +3
The Deb was fine! We certainly can use more Australian content. A pity this kind of thing sinks all attention of the efforts by the original playwright, film crew, actors, etc.

Lying about your age in Hollywood is not an indicator of that. It’s more like a tradition at this point.

Lied about her upbringing, her family and even how she came up with "Rebel"

Nah, it’s a Hollywood thing to be sure. It’s more a shame on the system. Looking forward to Streep, Kidman and Bullock being on screen soon, rather than “whatever happened to her…?” But the scandal was allegedly the article saying they had a source about “Rebel is actually Melanie!!”, then the source wasn’t so legitimate or something? And it certainly wasn’t news, just snarky jealousy. Ultimately the fines were reduced. Doesn’t excuse this situation or any bad behaviour reported.

Started her career with a Tropfest film where she/they basically just gender flipped and copied a Big Train skit. Lazy, untalented hack.

I’m tired of rich people trying to make their problems my problem. I don’t need to care about this.

I didn't bother reading the story but I assume this is relating to the leaked audio about the smear campaign or whatever.

I loved her in Pizza, the wedge and bogan pride then she got too big for her boots. The fact she lied about her age then sued an old school friend saying she lied turned me off.

Hmm… a lot of reports coming out that Rebel Wilson is a bad egg. But, you know, this is starting to feel like one of the PR hit jobs by the sheer amount of posts that are popping up.

I had a bad vibe about her 10 years ago but it was the Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer Rise of the Portly Female Lead era so I was just told I disliked her because of her looks

Wow that’s so disappointing to hear. She came into a boat I worked on and was actually really really lovely. I guess I will count myself lucky to not have had an incredibly unpleasant experience.

So her parents named her "rebel" and were supposed to assume they didn't teach her to bully others
3
Disgruntled_Pelicano 5 days ago +21
They didn’t. Her birth name was Melanie.

This reminds of the tweet that said Fat girl -> fit girl -> mean girl pipeline I feel like this is especially true for celebrities who seem to very suddenly lose a lot of weight. If something like ozempic works for you, great, more power to ya. But when they don't work through their insecurities, they sit there and fester, so they take it as an opportunity to be mean. As someone who has always been rather tiny, especially while growing up as a scrawny kid, I'm telling you that a lot of fat girls are already mean girls. They either take their insecurities out on skinny girls who had nothing to do with some other mean girls, or they convince themselves that they were gonna be bullied. They tend to watch too much tv, so they assume that random skinny girls are gonna be mean and they're gonna be the victims no matter what. And of course, jealousy is a very real thing. So if you're not gonna take care of yourself inside and out, you can just end up childish and mean.
