> no one is paying me Doesn’t she own the production company where she’s using this AI to replace current employees & reduce the reliance on other contract gig work employees who’re only around during production? Very disingenuous to boil her motives down to a single paycheck She could’ve said she doesn’t profit and isn’t using this AI implementation to cut salary expenses or production costs…. but obviously that would not be true Definitely a carefully worded denial As company owner, technically she’s the one who writes the paychecks for people to promote *whatever*.

She’s using feminism to prey on women, in particular the women who made her, her FANS. It’s truly disturbing. She’s the dark enlightenment. It’s giving don’t you know who I am? DUI vibes only far more menacing. Data centers won’t be built in her back yard.

It's hard for the white middle class who are only affected by AI at the financial level to emphasize that this discussion is also an environmental one creating "sacrifice zones" in America for the data centers to power these LLMs, nevermind their power consumption. If your community was being poisoned by a data center *and* you lost your job to a business downsizing for AI - it's a very different stance than just looking at the work economics of this business model. Until the environmental regulations are in place to protect humans - not just human jobs - then we need to realize that the backlash against AI is as a multi layered threat to human life - not just human jobs. This discussion cannot be: we need to learn how to use these tools. It needs to be: we need to regulate this *now*, and then learn how to use it to better society.

Reese has a spoon to confront the backlash. Maybe a more threatening utensil would have worked better.

Not surprising for someone like her. I hope the backlash on her and her ilk are significant and hit their pockets hard.

What exactly do you want her punished for…?

It’s always business people worth hundreds of millions of dollars who are telling people AI is good, while AI is wiping out jobs for the working person at the bottom of the business ladder.  Reese is parroting propaganda that only benefits her circle. It’s soulless. She is not genuinely trying to help normal women. Look up her worth

I don’t like or care about her but people should educate themselves on the dangers of AI

That’s not her angle

She’s selling AI courses btw. Lying to the fans who made her as preys on them to make ever more money.

> “Well, I guess my AI post got people talking,” Witherspoon wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this. I’m just a curious human. My kids are learning about AI tools, I know a lot of founders who are vibe coding, and I hear about people using AI in EVERY sector of business.” > She continued, “But I want to acknowledge people’s concerns, they are valid. I’m aware of the impact this could have on jobs across so many industries. I understand environmental concerns. I care deeply about local communities. And I have concerns about impending AGI. I don’t believe computers should replace humanity. I’m planning on learning as much as possible so that I’m educated about this technological revolution. If you want to learn with me, great, let’s do this! If you don’t, that’s okay too.”

I know this is hard for Listnook to understand but not everything about AI is bad. AI can be a good learning tool if used correct. That said there’s valid concern around it regarding people’s job for example

Studies show the opposite. Those who use AI to learn retain less, understand less, and have a high chance of walking away with incorrect information becuase LLMs are incapable of saying "i dont know"

Cars make humans weaker. Let’s ban those next.

I know you felt really smart with that false equivalency. If cars actively made us worse at walking, banning them would be the obvious solution no?

Think about what you're saying lol.

So do cars actively make us lose the ability to walk? Becuase using AI to learn is why Gen Z is the first generation to underperform the previous. Using LLMs makes you dumber.

I doubt that

I’m afraid the commenter is far too up in their own ass to read it tbh (looking at their comments feed… oh boy), but thanks for the article! I’ll give this a read

You're really proving my point.  Almost everything we do is use it or lose it. That includes thinking and communication.

AI is quite literally making people dumber and it’s been shown in research studies. You can “doubt” it all you want but the research is out there.
