A similar thing happened to my great grandfather's brother. He was serving overseas in WWII and got emergency leave to come home because his wife went into labor unexpectedly early and both she and the baby didn't survive. Then the poor man had to go back to war. He ended up getting married and had another child a couple years later after surviving the war but the man was absolutely tough as nails for all the hard shit life threw at him and I'm honored to be related to him because if he can survive that, it gives me the courage to get through my own hard times.
