I am glad more respected people are saying this.
This isn't some little thing, what's happening now will define the rest of our lives. The US is running on credit.

He was on a chat show in the UK a few years back and went off about Trump. At the end of it, Graham Norton, the host, turned to the camera and said “and *that* was unscripted”

I don't watch Graham Norton regularly but every clip I have seen of his interviews he seems like an amazing interviewer. He gives the people space to talk and doesn't try to take up the room. Then he comes back with a one-line zinger that reminds you it still his show.

Also, I quite appreciate that it doesn’t have the life edited out of it- recently he called one of his guests by their character name a couple of times and the guest had to correct him

You gotta check into Graham more! He lets the guests have their time and space to talk, and to each other, and their stories as well. It’s so good

People need to wake up to the existential threat that the Republican party poses to the values of democracy. The SAVE Act is a Machiavellian power grab aimed to deny millions of Americans the right to vote. Wake up before it's too late!

Speaking to viewers, the Taxi Driver actor said, "I've played plenty of tough, scary guys in the movies — but you know what really scares the hell out of me? What the government, this government, our government, is trying to do is take away our right to vote."
Stupid clickbait headline
237
greenslappyMar 20, 2026
+17
Thank you, that should have been the headline.
Gotta drive that sweet, sweet ad revenue, cant do that if there's no story to tell...so they had to obfuscate and get people thinking "DeNiro's known to be a pretty tough guy, why would he be scared? Guess i better click and see what the story is".
No wonder people dont trust the media anymore, with trash headlines like this trying to turn a non-story into a story.

OK, but what if I told you that there will be no midterm elections, or the elections will be undermined in such a way that the results are compromised enough to cause chaos in the procedure, which provides yet another opportunity to curtail the already dwindling illusion of our civil liberties ?

VariousExternal5189Mar 20, 2026
Life is precarious enough without worrying about things that as terrible and sickening that would be, we will have to see what happens then, while being prepared. Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. faced the unimaginable but they moved forward with their protesting.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but both of those men were murdered for their efforts, so that's not particularly comforting. Nothing that's currently unfolding indicates that this administration would simply abide a defeat at the polls. Many nations, throughout the world, have found themselves in this situation, and the tyranny can last for decades on end. It looks like we're next.

So change the system, man. You have like 350 000 000 people, that's way more powerful than anything else. Or say its too big and wait to get worse.

Half (or almost half) of those people have somehow been convinced that they have a chance at being a billionaire if they fall in line and work hard. It's difficult to change a system when a huge part of the people want it to stay as it is (or get more regressive).

It’s easy for him. He’s got more money than most of us will ever see in multiple lifetimes. What’s the worst that happens to him? He faces a illegal battle of some sort? He can afford it.
People wonder why the average person doesn’t speak up or advocate differently for themselves.
Take a look at your bank account and see how much of a legal battle you could handle without being wiped out
