>There’s really no way to describe this other than conceding that Iran will emerge from the war massively strengthened. **We’ve come a long, long way from regime change and unconditional surrender.** The other way to view it is that **Rubio concedes that Iran will come out of the war massively strengthened and that it’s up to Europe and perhaps some countries in Asia to fix it.** Seems likely.

The unfortunate reality though is that Trump won't allow himself to be perceived to have lost. Which means he's going to keep escalating.

also his advisors are saudi and israel…. they certainly don’t mind burning the us’s military on iran

t_zidd Mar 28, 2026 +1
Not advisors. Clients.
1
Repulsive-Party6267 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Masters.
1
TinyZoro Mar 28, 2026 +1
People keep saying this but everyone who has a reason to know the facts ie Palestinians, Iranians have always been super clear than Israel is a client of the US not the other way around. It serves America for Israel to be the bad guy. America provides money to Israel. Israel indirectly funds politicians in the US to ensure a majority for American Imperialism in both parties. That’s American Imperialism at work.
1
adeewun Mar 28, 2026 +1
Not clients. Handlers.
1
ThirdSunRising Mar 28, 2026 +1
And if the US completely bankrupts itself for the cause, that’s a sacrifice they’re willing to make
1
MilkiestMaestro Mar 28, 2026 +1
I really hope there is someone willing to step in and stop him if he ever wants to press that big red button.

And there should have been many, but there's not. It should be clear now that the rich and powerful do not face consequences. As an American, I don't even know what to do anymore. I vote every election. I've tried to reason with my maga family, FOR YEARS. I go to my local protests. I'm 1 or 2 paychecks from being homeless myself. The whole f****** system has failed. And it seems to have been a lie from the beginning. OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE FAILED US ON EVERY LEVEL In case any of you are wondering, this country has not been a democracy for a while. Where the history books decide to draw that line, I dunno But this *gestures everywhere* is just a great big mess
1
FFF_in_WY Mar 28, 2026 +1
Hello there. You sound like just the kind of person that we need in local party politics. Local parties help recruit candidates and drive local issues - and build the state parties. State parties get to drive the platform and build the national party. We have been at the point for a long time now where the rusted structure of party control requires a hard reboot. It's worth looking into in your area.
1
civil_politician Mar 28, 2026 +24
for as long as he can, and the more he does before november the fewer people there will be willing to prop this bullshit up
24
Alucard661 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Then the republicans will say the democrats lost us the war and then elect a republican maga in the election.
1
Illustrious_Map_3247 Mar 28, 2026 +1
You may be right. But I can also see him just declaring victory and walking away. Like, he never “locked her up” or “built the wall”. I’ve read that he’s “bored” with the war already. I’ve heard speculation that the US only joined the attacks because Israel was going to do it anyway. Then US bases would get attacked anyway. And the US public would have blamed Israel. This way, all that happened except Israel hasn’t been blamed. In that scenario, the US has played its part.
1
ZMaiden Mar 28, 2026 +1
Trump runs the country the way I pick a steam game when drunk. I want instant gratification, I skip all dialogue, I just want to get to the pew pew. Maybe he’s forgotten that he can’t load a save and try again.
1
gringledoom Mar 28, 2026 +1
Thing is, that doesn't make Iran reopen the strait. So he still has the gas price problem that impacts the least-capable-of-abstract-thought Americans in an extremely tangible way.
1
Illustrious_Map_3247 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Yeah, but that’s democrats’ fault. Or woke’s fault. Or gas prices are actually the lowest we’ve ever seen. Most likely, all of the above.
1
IctrlPlanes Mar 28, 2026 +1
The issue is if he gives up on having American military men and women killed then the US goes back to talking about the Trump-Epstein files and he can't have that. He will need a new distraction before giving up this one.
1
KL5668 Mar 28, 2026 +1
He’s already named the next distraction. Cuba.
1
lo_fi_ho Mar 28, 2026 +1
Trump is a true nihilist. He has given statements in his past where he repeatedly has stated that nothing really matters. He is the worlds most dangerous man atm. A demented nihilist with the codes to the largest nuclear arsenal on earth.
1
ryapeter Mar 28, 2026 +1
I read somewhere its strait of trump now. Am i dreaming? Did he lost the name battle?
1
livinginfutureworld Mar 28, 2026 +1
No. He'll lose but declare victory. The rest of us not living in Fantasyland will lose for real because Iran got stronger in reality.
1
800oz_gorilla Mar 28, 2026 +1
Ah the Putin approach. I wonder where he learned that.
1
failureat111N31st Mar 28, 2026 +49
Also the US position in the Middle East will be weakened.
49
Icamp2cook Mar 28, 2026 +34
Not just the ME. We’ve caused significant problems in Asia with this stunt. The only recourse we have is immediate removal from office, even then it may be too late. Of course, it will never happen.
34
minus2cats Mar 28, 2026 +26
Thats good for world peace.
26
Nisi-Marie Mar 28, 2026 +1
I mean talking point has been “peace in the Middle East” for as long as I’ve been alive. So perhaps, Trump will accomplish that! The entire Middle East united against America was probably not really what they meant, but hey, sometimes you gotta take one for the team.
1
cheesaremorgia Mar 28, 2026 +2
Finally some good news.
2
VincentVanG Mar 28, 2026 +1
So let me me game this out. Wars over, Iran is now the undisputed steward (using that lightly) of the Straight. Now they can charge/bargain with it like Panama Canal? So they make even more money, use it that new wealth to rebuild proxies, which will eventually be used to disrupt/attach American interests? This is actually what always happens almost every time America has America goes to war since Korea. Neat!
1
SirenSultry Mar 28, 2026 +22
You’re spot on. This is a massive pivot from the unconditional surrender rhetoric we’ve heard for years. It sounds like a quiet admission that the previous strategy failed and they’re now just hoping someone else steps in to handle the consequences.
22
pargofan Mar 28, 2026 +1
It is. But none of the other world leaders are biting. They've all gone on record to say this is America's problem to solve. Which means it really isn't a big deal to the rest of the world.
1
areyoualocal Mar 28, 2026 +7
Those countries could kick out American oil companies as the "fee".
7
buried_lede Mar 28, 2026 +1
We’re probably the vender of last resort now. All else being equal, countries would rather buy from someone else. I can’t blame them
1
__O_o_______ Mar 28, 2026 +1
Bummer!
1
Churchbushonk Mar 28, 2026 +1
Well, according to Trump, Trump himself is a weak leader that didn’t “have the cards”. What a loser.
1
adrr Mar 28, 2026 +9
$1 barrel tax + $67 normal price oil is much cheaper than $150+ barrel oil if US hits Iran's infrastructure and Iran retailates. Escalation could easily cause $10 per gallon gas.
9
Zhelthan Mar 28, 2026 +1
Europe and Asia need to fix it ? You f****** poked a wasp nest and we need to fix it???
1
lutus5789 Mar 28, 2026 +1
“Oops i was trying to bully someone now they stood up”. Sounds like a high school bully forgot real world is slightly different.
1
Corbotron_5 Mar 28, 2026 +1
America needs to fix it’s own mess and stop making new ones.
1
rapax Mar 28, 2026 +1
Come on, just say it: "Iran won."
1
Wretched_Gourd Mar 28, 2026 +1
Iran could easily win this conflict. Although, I think it’s a stretch to say Iran will be massively strengthened afterwards
1
minus2cats Mar 28, 2026 +4
Europe should just ally with Iran since they dont need to comply with the  abusive dad (US) anymore.
4
Prior_Coyote_4376 Mar 28, 2026 +1096
It almost makes you wish we had more energy sources that weren’t dependent on foreign oil

Windmill cancer, the silent killer
479
PeculiarAlize Mar 28, 2026 +66
Ooph yeah I think I'd rather take my chances with solar panel disease
66
DeepFuckingDebt Mar 28, 2026 +27
Look, global warming is fake but with all these big ugly solar panels heating up the air, maybe not. Solar panels are causing global warming, maybe. Many people are saying it.
27
Violoner Mar 28, 2026 +3
Melanoma?

“Melania”noma - FIFY
2
specqq Mar 28, 2026 +22
Every time this gets mentioned I feel compelled to point out he didn't just say that windmills cause cancer, he said the *noise* of windmills causes cancer. So calling them the "silent killer" is even more stupid than you may have imagined. And therefore perfectly appropriate.
22
EggStriking9712 Mar 28, 2026 +62
And think of all the poor birds.
62
RedMonk01 Mar 28, 2026 +43
Birds aren't real.
43
TheReservedList Mar 28, 2026 +14
Not if you have windmills they aren’t.
14
redalert825 Mar 28, 2026 +13
And toupees flying off!
13
Peach-Grand Mar 28, 2026 +12
And what will happen when there’s no wind? Edit to add s/ just in case
12
TheReservedList Mar 28, 2026 +8
We feed excess corn to midwestern men so they can fart at the windmills.
8
Violoner Mar 28, 2026 +2
We all die
2
krypticus Mar 28, 2026 +5
What else, besides oil spills, kills birds and whales like windmills do? And I mean turbines are “white”: that can’t be their natural color.
5
Cre0na Mar 28, 2026 +5
Oh, you believe in birds?
5
boofles1 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Ww have a politician in Australia who is terribly worried about whales being effected by offshore windmills, it's incredible how concerning renewable energy is to some politicians who are in bed with the fossil fuel industry.
1
JohnHenryMillerTime Mar 28, 2026 +1
"Fan death: Windmills" is a good later sequel to a longstanding K-horror franchise with their first western collaboration.
1
r3drocket Mar 28, 2026 +1
My brother found these stop windmill cancer stickers. And he lives in a very conservative area and put them on his car expecting to enrage conservatives. Instead, it turned out they didn't understand them, and that it was poking fun at this stupid lie.
1
Additional_Good4200 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Let the town folk know the good news: if the pitch of the blades is reversed, it doesn’t cause windmill cancer. It causes windmill health. I would think that’s obvious, but I kind of know a lot about science from a YouTube link my cousin sent me.
1
Ilikereefer Mar 28, 2026 +1
Windmills are cool and everything but have you ever considered how bad they make golf courses look?
1
RJ5R Mar 28, 2026 +68
well oil is just one thing that comes down that strait, one of many types of raw materials including *raw materials that go into making fertilizer*, along with various raw materials for batteries trump screws the farmers again and again and again (and yet they still voted for him 3x bc they thought they were owning the libs, but instead many will end up being the ones getting owned... losing their family farms in the process )
68
_skulls_ Mar 28, 2026 +45
Good screw them. Hope they feel some pain finally since we all are due to those idiots.
45
duckinradar Mar 28, 2026 +33
I have a really hard time feeling bad for people who are literally getting exactly what they voted for.
33
Lost_And_Found66 Mar 28, 2026 +15
I mean they'll vote for him a 4th time because they would rather be the in group of the ashes than be treated equally in a society.
15
7ddlysuns Mar 28, 2026 +1
What they voted for are subsidies. Dems better end that shit if they win the house
1
ynotfoster Mar 28, 2026 +1
I know, especially the farmers because when they fail they f*** us all big time.
1
7ddlysuns Mar 28, 2026 +1
Dems foolishly bail out farmers while republicans are president. They’d better stop
1
jaxiepie7 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Plus other fun things travel through the like helium gas which (is/was) a byproduct of Qatar's LNG production and is necessary to run MRI machines in hospitals among other things.
1
poorperspective Mar 28, 2026 +1
It’s easier to not plant the field and just take the government bail out. Farmers know exactly why they voted for him; corporate farms are well fare queens.
1
JessieJ577 Mar 28, 2026 +25
If only this administration watched Dune. They would’ve learned about relying on a single resource and blindly following figures who use religion to have people blindly follow them for personal gain. It would be cool if Trump does end up like Paul
25
Half-Wombat Mar 28, 2026 +21
They probably did watch it and thought the Harkonnens were the goodies.
21
ArrowsOfFate Mar 28, 2026 +7
Les miserables is trumps favorite play. It wouldn’t have any effect on a tunnel vision outlook of the world.
7
JessieJ577 Mar 28, 2026 +5
True he probably would’ve thought the Baron was a cool dude
5
ArrowsOfFate Mar 28, 2026 +5
He definitely would, he has complimented multiple authoritarian world leaders on their authoritarianism.
5
duckinradar Mar 28, 2026 +13
Or you know, hadn’t lit the entire world’s oil supply lines on fire for the sake of distracting from those files the doj hasn’t managed to scrub trumps name off of
13
exintel Mar 28, 2026 +9
Well, Canada was always a good friend nation and oil supplier until Donnie Bungles
9
GunnieGraves Mar 28, 2026 +4
I think if you point that out to a right winger you’d get a response of “I’d rather be broke than woke!”
4
DoctorWMD Mar 28, 2026 +3
Or foreign policy that wasn't dependent on bombs on faraway soil
3
Adept-Sir-1704 Mar 28, 2026 +1
It almost makes you with we didn’t have a president who didn’t act irrationally to harm Americans with the sole purpose of diverting attention ton away from the fact that he raped children.
1
NotOfferedForHearsay Mar 28, 2026 +10
We have plenty of oil (as Trump noted). We’re not dependent on foreign oil. However oil is a global commodity and if the price goes up for one country it goes up for all of them.
10
5minArgument Mar 28, 2026 +5
I suppose, if you don’t count the 10million barrels/day that we import, then yes.
5
justinballsonya Mar 28, 2026 +3
Why does the U.S. export more oil than it imports? Think about it.
3
5minArgument Mar 28, 2026 +3
Because we have refineries?
3
justinballsonya Mar 28, 2026 +3
U.S. oil companies make money exporting and it's also cheaper for them to import from other countries. It's more complicated, but that's what it boils down to.
3
StrongAroma Mar 28, 2026 +2
Now watch him roll coal on those libs
2
ClassyWizardCheese Mar 28, 2026 +599
Okay? So we are killing people, spending a fortune, ruining the global economy, and actually changing the balance of power in Iran's favor? And this is after the president said we won?

Maybe he means the billionaires? Maybe it's just they that are the "we?" No one else is winning anything.
93
Sytafluer Mar 28, 2026 +1
Well if you own an oil well, or recently stole the drilling rights from another country then hey you are winning. For everyone else not so much. Edit: spelling

1
Rex-A-Vision Mar 28, 2026 +116
So statesman-like. How was this guy even a senator...much less Secretary of State?
116
blazesquall Mar 28, 2026 +57
99 Senators unanimously thought he could do.
57
2much2Jung Mar 28, 2026 +12

12
Rex-A-Vision Mar 28, 2026 +16
Kinda makes ya wanna weep...
16
S0LO_Bot Mar 28, 2026 +13
Because he was (and still is) perhaps the only qualified cabinet pick. Everyone else in this admin is off the walls insane.
13
blazesquall Mar 28, 2026 +13
He's a different kind of insane.
13
Mateorabi Mar 28, 2026 +1
Whereas he is just craven?
1

Have you looked at the Senate recently? It's an incredibly low bar to be a senator.
17
FrothingJavelina Mar 28, 2026 +1
See: Tommy Tuberville
1
Ozymandias12 Mar 28, 2026 +11
Rubio has never been anything more than an empty suit. As a senator, he accomplished nothing for Floridians. The only reason why he was elected was because of the communist boogie man that the Cubans constantly fall for.
11
mahlerlieber Mar 28, 2026 +23
TBF, in the clown car that is trump's cabinet, Rubio is the least clowniest. The democratic senators likely voted for him because he at least sane. Turns out, he's not, but he's also not the craziest.
23
steepleton Mar 28, 2026 +13
well he did wait till now to wear his big clown shoes
13
Rex-A-Vision Mar 28, 2026 +4
I will henceforth be rating the clownieness of everything I come across! Thanks, truly, for the new passtime!

3
hammertime2009 Mar 28, 2026 +1
He’s the guy this administration keeps around because they know they are absolutely f****** crazy and insanely high on power and hitleresque ideas that they need some pawn to keep around them who won’t snitch but who will remind them when they get too high off their own supply. Holy shit that was one sentence.
1
b_tight Mar 28, 2026 +1
Rubio is also the national security advisor in addition to sec of state. The last person to hold both such titles at the same time…kissinger. History doesnt repeat, but it rhymes

61

The absolute funniest thing ever would be if we rapidly transition to renewable energy, not for any of the normal or good reasons, but to spite Iran after this gargantuan f*** up.
1

It's not even to spite Iran, it's to survive the actions of the trump administration

It's the author editorializing.
8
Calvin_v_Hobbes Mar 28, 2026 +1
Yes, although it's wrapped into the headline in a misleading way that makes it look like it's part of the statement attributed to Rubio.
1

If only there were cars that could just run on electrical power instead that the current administration wasn’t trying to kill off

If only someone would have thought of that before you started bombing anything that moves….
6

Maybe we shouldn’t have entered into this war and caused this situation to occur? Maybe that would have been a good thing??
5

Iran will expect indirect reparations and the world will never trust the US-led economy ever again. Iran has won already. Thanks israel!

Leave to trump to f*** everything up like always
1
TakayamaYoshi Mar 28, 2026 +1
Let me get this strait: we spent 40+ billions on this thing; bombed a bunch of buildings in Iran without changing their regime or getting their enriched uranium; had our gulf allies bombed the shit out of; and now the Gulf becomes an Iranian lake? Such a big win.
1
wdwhereicome2015 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Oh you changed their regime. But to a more hardline one.
1
Gooser3000 Mar 28, 2026 +9
I’ve always used “bummer”, but I never thought I could be the secretary of state!
9
Minguseyes Mar 28, 2026 +3
Hey, with qualifications like that you could aspire to any job you liked in this cabinet. Just gotta answer one question though. How do you feel about gargling orange nutsacks?
3
justbunnies Mar 28, 2026 +5
The only bummer is people not learning from the first time we elected an incompetent pedo.
5
thieh Mar 28, 2026 +9
Each of these idiots would have seen that coming if any of them are remotely competent, but noooo, there isn't anyone with the slightest degree of competence in the entire administration because it has never been the metric to choose candidates.
9
ninjplus Mar 28, 2026 +4
in other words, ‘we’re a bunch of f****** idiots who have no clue what we’re doing’
4
Salientfox Mar 28, 2026 +1
… and that’s a huge bummer guys am I right? Like gee.
1
ZotBattlehero Mar 28, 2026 +1
So the US’ objectives don’t include cleaning up their own mess. Typical.
1
Seeking-Something-3 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Gonna be a huge bummer for his long list of jackass maneuvers. “My slave plantation ancestors lost our plantation and now I’m gonna destroy Cuba because of it” 😢 f*** off in hell
1

Lmao and after he fails at this military operation we can go back to calling him a pedo and a warmongering dumbass lmao Maga stays winning.
1

If this is a win I understand what he meant when he said you be tired of winning.
1

To think Rubio wanted to be the president, and can't even perform as Trump's carpet.
1
BobbyBoogarBreath Mar 28, 2026 +1
This may sound unprofessional, but you have to cut Rubio some slack. He was probably doing blow with Don Jr. just before this conference.
1

F*** you. The EU will negotiate their own passage.
1

Iran may own it but it will be named Trump cAnal and he gets a personal cut for licensing his name. That was the sweetheart secret deal he talked about.

China’s building a million renewable sources a day and while we piss away money we don’t have on the Middle East. Not even mentioning what we’re letting domestic oil companies do to us.

> the immediate challenge we’re going to face is an Iran that may decide that they want to set up a tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz. Not only is this illegal, it’s unacceptable, it’s dangerous for the world. And it’s important that the world have a plan to confront it.” So we want the world to solve the problems that we created? Good luck with that
