Did Rubio say this before or after Finland announced it was investigating where the U.S. equipment it bought for Ukraine is actually going?
1679
JaVelin-X- Mar 28, 2026 +550
This is an important investigation

We need to pay more attention to Finland. Alexander Stubb in particular is a voice of reason amongst idiots.

Finland is just a very sensible place

CathycatOG Mar 28, 2026 +302
It blows my mind, or maybe I'm naive, that countries are giving money to the USA to supply Ukraine with anything. After their performance in the Oval Office and Trump's constant sucking up to Putin, they believe that the weapons will be delivered? It's like giving the fox the keys to the henhouse.
302
Deraj2004 Mar 28, 2026 +122
Europe as whole has been behind in its own weapon development and procurement for years. Simply put, most European countries that want to help Ukraine dont have the material assets, so they give cash to the U.S. with the agreement that the money will be used for military equipment for Ukraine.
122
mattxb Mar 28, 2026 +114
America wanted to be the military if the free world and now they only serve the interests of Trump and whoever butters his bread. The whole world was caught flat footed with how susceptible US voters are to propaganda.
114
TheCrimsonSteel Mar 28, 2026 +69
And to be fair, for decades it did make sense It was a mutually beneficial situation. Europe didn't need to build their own version of everything, and could collaborate with the US. It also makes US development cheaper by increasing order volumes But when that falls apart, it really falls apart
69
AlphaB27 Mar 28, 2026 +16
It was a mutually beneficial situation, however, Trump is too stupid to understand anything more complex than 1 + 1 so here we are unfortunately.
16
Takenabe Mar 28, 2026 +17
Trump lives in a zero sum world where the only way to get something is by taking it from someone else. Therefore, if any situation seems to help him and someone else at the same time, it must actually be a "bad deal" for him, and he could get more by taking the other party's stuff too.
17
mattxb Mar 28, 2026 +5
Western Europe is not corrupt enough to be of use to Trump.
5
im_thatoneguy Mar 28, 2026 +8
Yeah I remember how I (I guess woefully naively) used to criticize the eu for things like Galileo as being pointless and redundant since the US was just an absolute fact of stability.
8
jeffreynya Mar 28, 2026 +10
Wha about South Korea? Seems like they have a decent amount of military production capability!
10
LMONDEGREEN Mar 29, 2026 +5
South Korea is a country that relies on the US military presence to ward off threats of an invasion from North Korea or China (or even Russia).
5
JaVelin-X- Mar 28, 2026 +15
the US sells weapons. Nations buy them and more recently the US military has become a mercenary force and can be hired to do whatever. If the US is taking a nation's money for weapons then redirecting those weapons to some other nation instead of delivering them then the US has also become a mafia state and the world can not trust them.
15
Lucky-Elk-1234 Mar 29, 2026 +5
I’m sure the US weapons manufacturers will be happy when foreign nations stop making orders because Trump just can’t be trusted not to f*** them over.
5
ZappyZane Mar 28, 2026 +26
Countries should switch to Cash On Delivery. If i'm buying sight-unseen from someone highly reputable, say IKEA, sure i'll pay upfront. If i'm buying from someone a bit shady with mixed sales history, say ebay, i'll cash-on-delivery. After once-over of the goods themselves.
26
scorchedcross Mar 28, 2026 +8
Yea, I'm sure that cash on delivery for multi-billion dollar contracts is going to be popular.
8
MikeSteamer Mar 28, 2026 +979
It is incredible that we have reached the point that we automatically assume that anything uttered by the US administration is a lie or a misdirection. Trump, Rubio, Lutnick, Bessent, Leavitt, are pathological liars.

Lustytapeworm Mar 28, 2026 +129
And that's the problem right. You can vote them out, but we outside America feel there's no protection to stop it happening again.
129
Carbonistheft Mar 28, 2026 +61
Can they vote them out though? We'll get a sense of that later this year. Putin always gets so much support 😜
61
Abalith Mar 28, 2026 +13
You can’t vote out a mafia.
13
Farlo1 Mar 28, 2026 +2
This may be our last chance to see if that’s true
2
fretkat Mar 28, 2026 +3
It doesn't matter to the rest of the world by that time the irreversible damage is done. New alliances and trade deals are made. The US is losing its political and economic status every day its citizens allow this circus to continue.
3
Killahdanks1 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Stop. It’s literally happening across the country. In many special elections, democrats are flipping republican seats. So either you don’t want it to happen, or you don’t think it can happen. Either way, your commentary isn’t wanted or helpful. 🇺🇸
2
Abalith Mar 29, 2026 +4
Oh I just think it won't matter. I hope I am wrong, but they keep telling us they don't need votes, they act very much act like they don't need votes and half of them are going to jail if some semblance of democracy and the judiciary is restored, so obviously they will have plans to hold on to power no matter what. I'm just an outsider hoping at least someone in America is preparing for the worst, instead of believing everything this administration does is "stupidity" or something while they systematically destroy US institutions and protections against them and consolidate their power by the day.
4
GoTron88 Mar 28, 2026 +8
And even if you vote those people out, that doesn't solve the root cause of how it happened, and doesn't prevent more insidious people from getting into power.
8
Saturnalliia Mar 28, 2026 +29
There isn't, and that's why the rest of the world needs to build a new rules based system that ostracizes the US or at minimum checks their influence. The rest of the world needs to see the writing on the wall and start formulating new trade and strategic alliances.
29
Lost_View3877 Mar 28, 2026 +26
Carney of Canada gets it and was very plain spoken about it at Davos. Yes, Davos shouldn’t exist as a thing in terms of gathering of the Lords of the Universe but given that world order is entrenched…the Canadian PM’s speech effectively telling the world that the era of US leadership was over and people only needed to recognize that as fact was remarkable. Now, it is an open question of whether the downfall of the U.S. was the full Trumpian plan from the beginning or a result of incompetence. This I can’t figure out and vacillate in my belief in either throughout the day. I suppose it doesn’t really matter though. This is the Russification of the United States. Rendering it a 2nd rate power with the threat of our nuclear capabilities being the only leverage internationally while our elite plunder the resources at home at will. And Putin laughed…
26

Those of us outside America have to learn not to trust and rely on them ever again
14
CapOk4599 Mar 28, 2026 +6
None of this even started with Trump... The US have been like this for a century. Trump and his admin are just more open about it.
6

I don’t deserve this shit. F*** my neighbors, former friends, and now distant family that supported the fascist takeover led by a pedophile grifter moron traitorously subservient to Russia.
86
kitkatclub_visitor Mar 28, 2026 +48
Exactly. The masks came off and the world now sees America as traitorous, lying warmongers
48
EpochRaine Mar 28, 2026 +40
No, mostly the world now realises that there is a significant majority of people in America that are uneducated, unable to critically think and will lap up any old shit, if it aligns with their literally perverted world view. It's a shame, but the idiots won.

Trump is a pathological liar. The others are pathological liars by extension, but might not have been before getting involved with Trump. They have to lie to keep their job. That doesn’t make it much better, but I want to emphasize how crazy it is that we managed to elect a pathological liar to the most powerful position twice

"Trump has again criticised Zelenskyy, saying that he needs to accept compromises" Trump really is the king of unintentional irony
272
KodaiClub Mar 28, 2026 +82
Not really. He believes that might is right, and that strong nations can bully smaller nations. What he means by Ukraine having to accept compromises is that he believes Russia has the might, and therefore the right. Just like he believes the US has the might, therefore the right, to Venezuelan oil, Middle East destabilization, threats on Cuba, Greenland, and on and on.  I understand what you are saying regarding compromise in the context of the straight of Hormuz, but because he literally believes that the USA is more powerful, he will not compromise and continue to escalate.
82
Ranger_242 Mar 28, 2026 +29
I'm suggesting that Trump's entire life, public persona, and approach to negotiating is based on an unwillingness to compromise, so for him to suggest that compromise is a pathway that others should follow is not only ironic (unintentionally so) but is also the height of hypocrisy. But I understand that Trump apologists need to frame him in whatever flattering light they can find, even if that light comes from the fire in Plato's Cave.
29
YeOldeMemeShoppe Mar 29, 2026 +3
No need to suggest. This is laid clear and loud in The Art of the Deal, a book that is mocked by more listnookors than actual readers. There is no secret to Trump. And Roy Cohn the same; bully bully bully take as much and don’t give anything. Everything is a zero sum game for them.

Pretty funny that I think USA , as the most formidable military as claimed by orange boy, is going to also face the same , a long dragged war (which he again lied and claimed he won in the first hour)
25
KodaiClub Mar 28, 2026 +18
The parallels are actually hypocrisy at its finest. THAT war isn’t our problem, compromise. Say thank you. Have you said thank you?  OUR war is for all the right reasons, danger was imminent, well not really but had we left it it would be imminent. Well yes we were in negotiations when we bombed them, Japan didn’t tell the world about Pearl Harbor!  F***** compared it to Pearl Harbor. America is the aggressor here, along with Israel. We know what the response to Pearl Harbor was. Imagine if that response was floated by the Iranians today

11

he only sees might makes right in the simplest terms. the actual might of the us is the alliances and ideology. enough so that they left us to military and economic power. he’s cashing all that in for basically nothing

Once again, Rubio's comment ("Zelenskyy is lying") is another in a seemingly endless stream of confessions.

38
Leomonice61 Mar 28, 2026 +12
I have tried and tried to understand DTs constant sucking up to Putin and cannot find an answer apart from……”Putin has something on him” that would finally turn the bulk of his supporters away or at least get them to publicly pipe down. BBC regularly shows short interview clips of MAGA fans and they leave me speechless

The US: Absolutely pounding a *dormant* regional adversary from the air, while throwing the world's oil supplies and economies into chaos. Ukraine: Holding its own against the US's largest *strategic* adversary of 70+ years, diminishing their stockpiles, and delivering a *Christmas present* to the US's and NATO's long term security. It has **never** been this c**** to diminish Russia via a proxy. My God, man... US War College types should be embracing and promoting all the aid we can give Ukraine. Instead, the US is relieving sanctions so Russia can sell oil because of the US's own-goal. It's an unbelievably anti-American administration.
105

With where the Dow is going, they're also hurting rich people's investments (as well as everyone's 401(k)s), so it's amazing they're not getting push back from all directions. It hurts at the pump right now, but that's nothing compared to the 2nd order effects this Iran nonsense is going to cause. What's good for Russia *isn't* good for the US. And, no, Russia aren't our friends.

Ironically, Rubio may actually be telling the truth, as he understand it, but that does not mean Zelenskyy was not told of the explicit requirement by other US officials. In any case, Zelenskyy knows that any deal offered by the Trump regime is worthless. He also likely knows that weapons supplies from the US will likely end because of the Iran mess.

Responsible-Baby-551 Mar 28, 2026 +5
Zelenskyy made public the fact that this administration is working to satisfy Russia’s demands, which embarrassed Rubio and his clown shoes

So this confirms once again that the gap between the US and the EU is only widening. The US government is such a mess.

That's putting it mildly.

Rubio is most intelligent person in Trump's administration, however that does't mean he is not an idiot.

If the US wasnt an ally to the western world, I think we would view then on the same level as Russia.

Increasing pressure on Russia will inevitably hurt Iran. Those morons really have no understanding of basic geopolitics.

So the new master-plan 5D-chess move is: funding Iran, who is at war with the US. Owning libs every day, I see. /s Man

Lol seeing that they’re diverting swiss f35 funds to patriot batteries, I’m surprised they haven’t already.

Rubio is such a miserable disgrace

As an American, I'd just like to point out that everyone in the US administration lies pretty much constantly. I would honestly believe Putin before I'd believe Trump or Rubio or any of them.

angrybert Mar 29, 2026 +2
There you are Rubio! You're learning from your daddy how to be a petty little b****! Good for you.

MAGA will do anything to help Russia it seems.

Shameful. Bet Rubio is the devilish liar over here. When the world ends, hell shall await.

Mr_Gaslight Mar 28, 2026 +2
If the US was planning on a big naval base in Ukraine at the end of this, you wouldn't know it.

Firewooodydaddy18899 Mar 28, 2026 +1
Is Rubio giving weapons to Iran now? Is this to make his master happy?
