It's like comparing a normal piece of shit to burning diarrhea. Regular shit doesn't seem as bad. You're actually a little grateful for it if it means less burning diarrhea

Didn’t seem like he was really trying. Brand did all the work. Would’ve been a layup for anyone who knows how to grift properly

That’s the beauty of it. He let the situation speak for itself. And it worked, everyone on social media is talking about it, more than if he had just come up with some soundbite. Piers Morgan is a t***, but that’s what makes him so entertaining. He’s aware he’s a t***, and he knows exactly what buttons to press to make fun of other twats.

The part where Russell just sits there quietly for more than a full minute trying to find a bible verse and he can’t find it so he picks another one… I mean, that’s just some good crashout television right there. Truly incredible.

I feel like Piers discovered a magical monkey paw, and instead of wishing on the monkeypaw he instead used a weird magic hack on it so anyone who makes a wish on it gets caught in a weird magic trap where he extracts legitimacy from them.  Is it a scientifically measurable amount of legitimacy above the planck scale? No. Does it make you feel better about living in this world? Also no.

As someone who’s seen Brands shenanigans for nearly 20 years, I’ve never seen him freeze up like this. He’s usually so quick to provide a response, always manipulating the audience and interviewer, so to witness this was incredible. Shocking even.

Honestly, he could have easily just said John 3:16–one of the MOST used and EASILY MEMORIZABLE scripture lines in historic, and the false-Christian base would have lapped it all up and called it a day. He couldn’t be bothered to learn ONE. What a pathetic little dipshit he is.

I thought he was some what intelligent too. However I just tried watching the full interview. He seems to think out loud and what takes most people a few seconds to do, it takes him minutes and he still doesnt say anything.
3
gilestowler 1 day ago +35
The thing that gets me is that this would be so easy to avoid. Just do the tiniest bit of research. I just googled "Bible verse righteous being persecuted" and this came up "Matthew 5:10–12. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." That would fit perfectly with him trying to play the victim. And he couldn't be bothered to do even that.

His incentive just seems to be outrage and views so having on these people like Nick Fuentes as well is great for ratings. He seems to be fine exposing people across the political spectrum as long as it gets those sweet views.
7

This. These few shining moments hit the TikTok instagram circuit pretty hard. What doesn’t make it out are the numerous bad faith arguments, the unnecessary playing of devil’s advocate and a number of terrible guests he still gives a platform to
15
TwistedPepperCan 1 day ago +48
In fairness, Morgan seems willing to interview absolutely anyone where others might balk at bringing someone like Brand on. It undermines the argument against deplatforming somewhat.
48
andyraylan 1 day ago +24
I agree. There is value in allowing someone to prove themselves to be full of shit. And Morgan seems capable of doing it in a way that also gets more attention, exposing people who should be exposed.
24
pleasedtoheatyou 1 day ago +24
The difference is basically in having a semi decent interviewer. The likes of Rogan talk about giving space for good ideas to rise, but they don't criticise the ideas. They just give carte blanche to anything their guest says. Meanwhile you can present literally the exact same idea of respectful dialogue, conspiracy theorists guests given time to speak, but an interviewer who actually can ask probing questions and push back will make a huge difference, see the podcast series Be Reasonable. As much as I'm loathe to admit it, Morgan can be a semi decent interviewer in that he largely takes the approach that he should treat everyone critically. He just does it for love of looking clever rather than any real principles.
24
DontTellHimPike 23 hr ago +5
He chickened out of asking difficult questions when interviewing Trump though, which lead to this brilliant bit in [The Mash Report](https://youtu.be/4VGwfkTW4WU?si=wj4yhK-R450U9W3N)

He's a grifter trying to do an image change as an "anti establishment conservative" who calls out bullshit.
20
Intrepid-Glove1431 1 day ago +16
Morgan's not a grifter in the political sense, he just likes gutter journalism, controversy, and ratings. He'll happily tear to shreds a conservative just as much as he would a liberal if it gets views. See his recent interviews with that Pastor dude Tim Miller tore apart and when he had Eric Weinstein come on his show and completely humiliate himself Morgan loves nothing more than tearing people to shreds regardless of their politics
16
ManOfTheBroth 1 day ago +15
Is he? He seems the same as he always has to me, not particularly likeable, a lot of bad takes, but fairly honest. Most people's hate of him seems to be based on the false belief that he had something to do with the Milly Dowler phonehacking when he was editor of a completely different newspaper.
15
CosmicEveStardust 1 day ago +13
He was never honest and still isn't. He privately hated Trump and publicly defended everything he did. He is and always has been a grifter
13

I've never heard of the incident you're talking about and I don't find the guy likeable and I've never seen that mentioned when people talk about disliking him. Most complaints I've seen of him are the same as mine, which are that he seems pompous and generally unlikable.

The fact that over the past year or so this sentence has been uttered countless times with unanimous regretful agreements is quite telling for now. His trips to America have really made him seem like a tolerable person for once. There’s even been a few instances where you could’ve said the same for Tucker Carlson recently too, which is concerning.

It’s pretty easy for the public to forgive & forget when it comes to famous people. Give apologies that seem sincere, explain how you understand you were wrong, & back it up with actions + consistency, you can make a comeback. The problem is assholes are never able to make a sincere apology at all, let alone do all 3 of those things. That’s why when someone like Tucker not only says he doesn’t like Trump now, but actually apologizes for supporting Trump, it can soften empathetic people that had him on their shit list. I feel myself already doing it lol I have to keep that shit in check & remember all the damage he’s done. There was that time when RBG died & Trump learned about it on live TV & actually had one of the only human reactions I’ve ever seen from him. He seemed genuinely kinda sad & reflected on how important she was. Instantly softened me on him for 2 seconds lol

I can’t believe anyone is platforming this guy or that anyone is willing to support him.

The brand of Christianity sold in the US is not the same as in the UK. Somehow, the UK at least has an understanding of how Christians are supposed to behave and are quick to call out those using it for image alone. In the US, it’s more like everyone involved knows they’re all in it for image alone, and the basement is much much lower as a result.
114
Tibbaryllis2 1 day ago +74
It’s almost like our country, the US, was founded on religion doctrine that was too extremist for 1500-1600s European (the time period of the formation of the Jesuits, Anababtists, the Protestant Reformation, the 30 years war, etc.). In US schools, we’re spoon fed that part of colonization was due to religious persecution and all that, but they fail to mention they were often *persecuted* in the same way modern conservatives are *persecuted* for being disingenuous, racist assholes.
74
JoannaCuppa 1 day ago +19

fuck_ur_portmanteau 23 hr ago +8
The last time I remember religion being mentioned in relation to a PM was there was a rumour Blair had switched to Catholicism but couldn’t come out about it while he was still PM. And then he left and I still don’t know what religion he is. TBH I don’t even know what religion Sunak was, and that’s how it should be.

It’s like he’s trying to keep his “fake rock star sex appeal” persona on full display while also pretending to be a born-again conservative Christian. And of course neither works as a result. He could have gotten so much further on the grift if he spent 30 minutes looking into what conservative middle American Christians actually are into. Put a shirt on, memorize a few Bible verses and talking points, you could do this in an afternoon. In other words, he’s a massive f****** idiot.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving piece of shit. Amazing that the moment came courtesy of another piece of shit.

Devastating that this is the funniest thing comedian Russell brand has ever done
6
Deadhated 1 day ago +5
I've never liked Russell Brand always thought he was bad news... Turned out he is.
5
sparrowharknessftw 1 day ago +6
Piers can be a really good interviewer when he wants to be, and the dead silence when Russell was frantically flipping pages trying to find verses was like something out of a comedy skit.
6
paternoster 1 day ago +5
He's insufferable. Well, they both are, but in this case RB is to clearly backpedaling it hurts.
5
ToolTimeT 1 day ago +5
Russell found God after 49 years of debauchery, heavy drug use, womanizing, r***, and child molesting. Good for him... he found the right club

Funny how so many Christians commit so many crimes. Pathetic. I don’t need a bible to tell me how to live. I have a conscience and respect everyone until they show their true colors.

He’s a gross attention seeking knob and always was that way.

Does the finding religion work for the brits the way works on us stupid Americans.
4
Agitated_Custard7395 1 day ago +9
No, quite the opposite

mm339 1 day ago +4
Absolutely not. We are not a particularly religious country, so ‘finding religion’ will not wash with the public, the media or the courts. If anything, it just makes you look more crazy. When Americans do it, it just looks so transparent to us. That, and religion isn’t big business here nor does it hold much (if any) political sway.

Always fun to see the mask slip. Anyone who buys this guy claiming to be religious just needs to watch this video and realise he's full of shit. He's always been full of shit. The fact that he went through the trouble of putting bookmarks in and couldn't be arsed reading even a little bit incase a question like this was asked shows how much of a smoothbrain POS he is.

Ok-Traffic-5996 18 hr ago +6
Piers is apparently Catholic so he probably knows more about Christianity that Russell. Honestly, while I'm not a fan of piers it was funny watching him humiliate him by barely doing anything.

You’d think that Russell Brand would, for just one extremely brief moment in all of this, simply not try to dress like the biggest sex pest in all of this. Like commonsense that I’m sure his lawyers would’ve told him, would be to make it look as unrealistic as possible, and part of that is at least not dressing the part.

He got outsmarted by Piers Morgan lmao. He's guilty as hell
3
Dhalilahma 1 day ago +3
Piers Morgan can be neatly explained by the Team America monologue… “But dicks also f*** assholes! And if they didn't f*** the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your d*** and your p**** all covered in shit!”

Reminds me of Jay amd Silent Bob when they just flip to random pages of the Bible and read the quote.

Or that episode of the Simpsons > Reverend Lovejoy: Homer, I'd like you to remember Matthew 7:26. "The foolish man who built his house upon the sand." >Homer: And you remember... >Homer: Matthew... 21:17! >Reverend Lovejoy: [confused] "And he left them and went out of the city, into Bethany, and he lodged there?" >Homer: Yeah... Think about it!

If he thinks religion makes him look like less of a nonce he really needs to watch the Saville documentary..
3
Threadheads 23 hr ago +2
He probably watched it for tips on how to get away with it. Because Savile did.

What’s nuts is that he seemed to age pages book marked with sticky notes I would assume for just such a question. But I guess they were just for show.

Anytime a man gets super weird abput religion in his 40 or 50s there’s a high likelyhood he did some VERY f’d up stuff

If I was on the jury and a guy who was charged with r***, came in with the Bible, I would say he’s guilty immediately. Because he’s obviously a d***** and a poser.

Sexual criminals rely on finding sanctuary in Christianity. They know their kind. Abuse who you like, as long as you “repent” and give a good donation.
2
UltravioletAfterglow 18 hr ago +2
If only there were some way for poor Russell Brand to quickly find his favorite verse instead of having to shuffle futillely through every page! Perhaps dividing it into books with numbered chapters and verses should be considered.

2
theblobbbb 16 hr ago +2
Brand is a clown… there was basically a tiny moment in time when it seemed that he might be a decent human. But his real character soon pushed on through again. This interview is up there with Prince Andrew in immolation levels.

I dislike Brand so much (always have, and recent revelations only cement that I was right to do so), that I can’t bring myself to watch this.

I mean, he could have just used that fake quote from Pulp Fiction like Kegsbeath did.
