Reporter: ‘Mr President, are you actively aiding and abetting Vladimir Putin? Are you compromised?’ Trump looks out of window, suddenly points at something outside: ‘Hey look, is that a decoy?’

but sure the US should continue lifting sanctions on russian oil and threaten ukraine to surrender to russia. im sure US soldiers will love being attacked by Russian tech, while a picture of putin hangs in the white house.

If you didn't know better, you'd think this claim is hyperbole or some sort of distorted angle of a complex and nuanced historical event. But no. The US removed sanctions on Russian oil while Russia aided Iran to kill American soldiers. This is a thing that actually happened. This is real.

Like the moon landing and holocaust. It's so crazy and unthinkable it had to be made up.

Some more true things, Russia paid for bounties on US and NATO troops being killed in wars across the middle east, this helped draw in not just Jihadi's but local and foreign mercenaries and opportunists looking for quick cash payouts for a successful IED attack

15
Sherwoodfan May 10, 2026 +2
the level of brainwashing is extremely sad and depressing tbh it's self feeding, with short form content being the new norm. it's literally quantity over quality because that's what reaches the most people. don't need to spend time fact checking your shit, because while you take the time to do that, you missed an opportunity to post 15 slop videos. this media loop in turn feeds the brainwashing.

One of Ukraine’s allies (almost certainly the US) also asked Ukraine to stop hitting Russian oil infra while the Middle East crisis was ongoing.

Can the fiber go beyond 50 km?
8
marshalist May 10, 2026 +9
Probably less so they would only be useful if the US put its forces within range.
9
cb_24 May 10, 2026 +11
One of the main reasons Russia was able to advance quicker in 2025, besides help from the US, is the development of an operational range strike campaign (often beyond 50km) against Ukrainian logistics to cut off areas like Pokrovsk. So yes, Rubikon have deployed fiber optic drones beyond 50km. Ukraine has successfully implemented its own mid-range campaign, with [strikes this week against Mariupol](https://understandingwar.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Ukrainian-Forces-Are-Conducting-Battlefield-Air-Interdiction-Missions-Against-Russian-Logistics-at-Operational-Depth-May-8-2026-1583x2048.webp).
11
Jerithil May 10, 2026 +2
Fiber can be functional for over 100 km but I highly doubt you could put more then 10km of fiber on water without it stopping the drone as currents and waves are going to put a lot of force on that fiber.

I love how US citizens make surprised Pikachu face every time these deals hit the news. After years and years of supplying Ukraine with arms, Intel and comms. What did you expect? (:

Gh0stPeppers May 10, 2026 +4
So I know there are a bunch of hot takes are going to act like this is a big deal. This weapon is completely worthless in the current conflict as it will only be useful in the event of a ground invasion, which is not coming. If this conflict resumes, the only thing that will happen is more bombings, no troops on the ground.

canspop May 10, 2026 +2
What about ships in the strait? Easily in range of FPV drones. If the US were to start escorting tankers again, the IRGC would have a choice of targets, military & civilian. I've no idea how well sections of ships are kept sealed, but it only takes a small opening for a drone to get in and start looking around for something to hit. I can't imagine they'd do any serious damage to a ship, but any personnel who get in the way are a lot more fragile. Is for civilian tankers, I can imagine a door or window on the bridge open, that could allow a few drones to get in & effectively disable it.
2
Caymonki May 10, 2026 +3
You don’t know what this Admin will do. They don’t even know what they’re doing beyond market manipulation and self enrichment. It’s still a big deal, to be lessening sanctions on Russia, praising Putin from the Oval Office while Putin offers Iran the option for weapons to use against America troops? That is huge. If it was a Democratic administration you would agree but you don’t see similarities you just thrive on hypocrisy.
3
cb_24 May 10, 2026 +2
Nobody has ruled out a ground invasion and even if they did why believe it. Fiber optic drones have been used for a while by Russia and now Ukraine too to attack enemy logistics. Command posts, bases, warehouses, ammo depots, and manpower concentrations as well. This is what has been occurring throughout the spring in the Middle East as well and why bases were evacuated.
2
Halbaras May 10, 2026
It's relevant because the US was apparently seriously considering boots on the ground earlier in the war. Capturing Kharg island, capturing islands like Abu Musa in the Strait, the insane idea to try and seize uranium in Isfahan and coastal raids near the Strait were all seriously discussed by the US military. You don't bring marines in from East Asia unless there's a plausible threat of you using them. The US is getting increasingly desperate, as evidenced by the aborted plan to e***** ships through last week (which was an enormous strategic humiliation because the Saudis denied their airspace). Iran really doesn't want US boots on the ground because it's likely to become a forever war and regime change attempt when it doesn't work. The prospect of FPV drone footage of US marines getting finished off showing up in CENTCOM's twitter replies is fairly good insurance against it happening, and costs very little.

They can attack ships with it. Another typical listnookor expert with no understanding.
-6
NMS_Survival_Guru May 10, 2026 +6
Depends on the size of drone and munitions Most fiber optic drones are antipersonal unless equipped with a shape charge for armor they're not really that effective at disabling a ship I've been following the developments of drones in Ukraine since the war started and im a commercial drone pilot so I understand their capabilities
6
cb_24 May 10, 2026 +3
Most of those drones are designed to take out logistics targets rather than personnel. They were an innovation developed by Rubikon who were tasked with cutting off Ukrainian logistics in areas like Kursk to start, and then used in Pokrovsk and other areas of the front.
3
maddprof May 10, 2026 +1
You know there’s personal who work on ships and a lot of those jobs are above deck exposed to the open air… Not to mention plenty of exposed munitions and air craft…
1
NMS_Survival_Guru May 10, 2026 +1
Unless actively armed on aircraft they don't keep munitions above deck or in spots that a drone could even hit as thier storage is designed to resist larger weapon hits As for people on the deck that could be an issue but addressed by limiting the time frame they're exposed or deployment of other tech to identify and counter them Knowing our military they'll be unprepared for a few of these fiber drones but will adapt quickly to counter them like we did for IEDs in GWOT
1
cb_24 May 10, 2026 +3
There are more valuable targets than weapons above deck such as sensitive electronics and sensors. Often radars, antennas, WiFi equipment are higher value targets in Ukraine. The last time the US experienced anything similar were kamikaze attacks in the pacific, which led to massive PTSD as well. Ukraine has been able to adapt quickly because it’s fighting an existential war and doesn’t have the luxury of years long development cycles typical of major US defense contractors.
3
Gh0stPeppers May 10, 2026 +2
They’re pretty much worthless for anti ship purposes. Pretending otherwise is laughable. What makes this funnier, is after your hot take you’re then trying to play it off as only Listnook experts with no understanding would disagree? That’s nothing more than self projection there. Because that’s all you are🤣🤣🤣
2
Flexerrr May 10, 2026 +1
Sure it can destroy a tank, but cant ignite oil tanker

Flexerrr May 10, 2026 -2
Cant they attack ships with them?
-2
temporarycreature May 10, 2026 +1
Not in the amount necessary to take down a US warship. The loss of the Iranian Navy fleet changed the math with the IRIS Shahid Bagheri (ine of the primary vessels they used to launch drone swarms from) and the rest of the surface vessels out of the picture. Launching a massive swarm from a fixed land position is a different beast entirely because the US Navy can track the launch from much further away, much easier.
1
Flexerrr May 10, 2026 +3
Not talking about us warship. Only about oil tankers.
3

Sure, just disable the rudder the same way Ukraine is doing it the Black and Caspian Sea against the Russian shadow tankers.
