That is why they keep demanding that the land should be given up without a fight.

Given that Trump acts to help Putin so often, the Kremlin has reason to think diplomacy might give them territory that their armed forces can't.

The US stopped sending aid the moment Trump assumed power. I don't know why they keep thinking they can dictate peace terms or even have leverage.

The Trump government still has ways to make life worse for Ukrainians. Further weaken sanctions on Russia, start feeding intel to Moscow, etc. But yes, Trump is not helping Ukrainians.

philixx93 Apr 2, 2026 +11
They have ways to make life more difficult, yes. However they don’t have any power of decisive magnitude. This is completely self-inflicted because the US could have chosen to give decisive support, in turn giving them more leverage.

OldRepresentative578 Apr 3, 2026 +1
If the French and others can cover the intel needs, then that's accurate. Tbh, it does look that way.

It almost feels as though he's made a trade with Putin, on Iran. America stops helping Ukraine, and Russia does the absolute minimum for Iran. Of course, this is pure unfounded off the cuff conspiracy on my part.

derkrieger Apr 2, 2026 +3
Well yeah, the chaos has caused demand for oil which lets Russia sell theres for a higher profit instead of the dribble of income they were getting from the resold stuff that is being sanctioned

OldRepresentative578 Apr 3, 2026 +1
It's not impossible though. Putin is not a reliable ally, to put it mildly. If he sees even a faint chance of improving his odds, I could imagine him throwing an ally under the nearest bus.

truttatrotta Apr 2, 2026 +11
It why Trump is trying to force Ukraine to give it away.

Its comical that even after 4 years Russia still doesn't control the entire Donbass region , f****** Iran has had more success achieving their goals

wololosandwitch Apr 2, 2026 +117
What do you mean? Russia control the dumbass. Oh, you're talking about donbass, not Krasnov

Donbass / Dumbass and drones - I can see how this could be confusing 😀

Russia is taking some serious losses if they cant even take a few positions after 144 attempts Ukraines military is putting up a way better fight than i thought they would

Ukraine completely changed defensive ground wars is what it seems like everyone keeps saying. The semi-automatic defense gun robot for example. How do you get rid of a f****** remote controlled Terminator in a ditch without artillery or air support? Meanwhile any wave of Russians you hurl at it with grenades or long guns, if the robot doesn’t get them, the drones, snipers and local UKR military will while they try. Ukraine turned the frontline into a death gauntlet. Lots of sunflowers to grow.

70% of Russian casualties are drones.
12
kymri Apr 2, 2026 +11
Same as it ever was. Before drones, it was artillery that racked up the raw (horrifying) numbers. For the last century, 'dudes shooting dudes' has rarely been the leading cause of casualties. Which means, once you think about it, war becomes *even more horrific* than it already was.

sweetplantveal Apr 2, 2026 +3
That's a rude way to talk about poor Russian recruits.

How did this go again? 2021 Russia has the second most powerful military in the world 2022 Russia has the second most powerful military in the Ukraine 2023 Russia has the second most powerful military in Russia

Putin needs to understand that he lost this war. Ukraine is going to keep making it prohibitively expensive to continue this war in the long term. Russia's economy will collapse if the war continues. Putin should just give up and leave.
29
3lm0rado Apr 2, 2026 +21
I'm convinced Putin is trying to keep this war going until he croaks from old age, if they make an unfavorable peace treaty to Russia after all this there's a chance he's going out the way Mussolini did
21
eskimospy212 Apr 2, 2026 +17
I think Putin is rightly concerned that a defeat in this war leads to his arrest/death/overthrow/whatever. So from his perspective the choices are death/arrest vs. continuing to send people he doesn't know or care about to die. Since he's an evil piece of shit and other people's lives mean nothing to him I get why he continues.

Al_Keda Apr 2, 2026 +3
He's right to worry, because it does. He will be Romanoved' once he lets his guard down.

totallyRebb Apr 2, 2026 +7
Objectively he deserves the worst. He's easily the most evil, destructive, hollow soul on the planet.

It’s amazing that Russia demonstrated how a 3 day special military operation was the biggest strategic miscalculation… just for Trump to do exactly the same and fail even more spectacularly. Like peas in a pod.

Russia just got a 40% boost to it's main revenue source

"Ukraine’s Last Luhansk Positions" sounds ominous...

fingers crossed, but they've been Russian apologists/tankies for over a decade now. (Sorry. "We're not political." Which, coincidentally, is a standard Russian talking point for not wanting to actually address uncomfortable truths about doing shitty things, while being an active part of Russian propaganda and performing in the occupied Crimean peninsula) Love their music, but I suspect that - if they actually ever do an album - it'll be pretty "both-sides-y." "The tragedy of the brave Russian meatwave" or something like that.

truttatrotta Apr 2, 2026 +5
144 assaults would sound far more ominous if you cared about Russian lives.
5
Al_Keda Apr 2, 2026 +2
I care. I care how many are left, because that is the measure to the end of the invasion.

When is the Russian military going to take Him out for their own survival?

All those lives lost and for what?

Temples_of_Syrinx_ Apr 2, 2026 +3
In the end, like Iran, Ukraine will win by not losing even if the cost is huge.

They got 99% of Luhansk!
-18
truttatrotta Apr 2, 2026 +11
And how many dead in those 144 assaults? But just you get excited about Russian people dying for nothing.
11
CurrentElectrical736 Apr 2, 2026 +2
I'm more concerned about Ukrainians who are dying, especially civilians.
2
truttatrotta Apr 2, 2026 +2
They’re in Ukraine. All the deaths are down to Russia.
2
CurrentElectrical736 Apr 2, 2026 -1
But lots of dead Ukrainian civilians, a lot more than Russian civilians.
-1
truttatrotta Apr 2, 2026 +4
Is that you gloating about the number of civilians Russia has killed? You just like people dying regardless which side? All deaths on both sides are due to Russia.
