I just hope their progress continues this year in spite of how hard the current US administration is trying to prop Putin back up by easing sanctions, allowing their ships through the Cuban blockade, and driving oil prices up / business to Russia thanks to the Iran war.

Rosneft is publicly traded, so you can short it if you believe that they're lying.

> a high profit tax It's not quite as easy as looking at a companie's bottom line. Rosneft pays taxes to the Russian state, before profits. Just like any other private company. Additionally part of the company is state owned. So dividends are paid to the state directly.  Profits can collapse, while the Russian state is getting more money.
