This is beyond satire. Dude is ready to cause endless suffering, but will make an exception if it benefits Putin.

I don't see how this benefits Russia; literally, Cuba has nothing to offer, it's free aid.

And bigger picture, you don't see any benefits for Russia with the Iran war as an excuse to lift sanctions on their oil?

Cuba has nothing to offer? Have you ever heard of the missile crisys? Russia strength their international ties while US screw them, and you don't are the problem with that?

There shouldn't be a blockade to begin with.

No one I speak with is aware that the US Navy and Coast Guard are blockading Cuba at all.

I mean I always thought this was weird, is there a valid reason the US can just block a completely sovereign nation from getting shipments? Like I get not wanting to sell to them, but how can you stop others from selling to them?

The successful docking of a Russian tanker in Havana is a clear sign that the administration’s attempt to starve Cuba of energy has failed. For months, we’ve seen headlines about the U.S. Coast Guard pursuing tankers and "total blockades," but the second a Russian ship shows up, the blockade evaporates. This isn’t a foreign policy win; it’s a demonstration that our "tough" stance only applies to our neighbors and humanitarian aid, but folds the moment it faces actual Russian interest.

It's amazing how badly the US has fucked this up. If they would have opened up trade to Mexico and Venezuela and not Russia it would have sent a clear message to the Cuban people and their government at least in what the US wants from them. Allowing the blockade to be broken by Russia just makes Cuba hate the US and love Russia more. It's ludicrously stupid.

It is in the same sense as pissing off their allies with the tariff and pushing them toward China. Truly a masterclass in strategic thinking. /S

It just reads like it was completely done on purpose. Like they can't possibly be that stupid and incompetent.

Could be but look at the people in his cabinet. You have an alcoholic Fox News host as the Secretary of Defense and an anti-vax charlatan running the HHS. I lean towards stupid, incompetent and corruption.

What does TACO mean?

carbon_ape Mar 31, 2026 +5
Tacoma. It’s a medium sized pickup made by Toyota in North America that’s notorious for reliability and has one of the highest resale values. Or maybe he means “Trump always chickens out” but probably Tacoma.

Actually I think TACO means Transfusion-Associated Circulatory Overload. Or maybe he means “Trump Always Chickens Out” but probably Transfusion-Associated Circulatory Overload.

It wasn’t trump chickening out- it’s trump making allowance that benefits Putin

Imagine Russia using these oil tankers to smuggle missles into cuba. Surely, a crisis like that could never happen, right?
