Lovrov has been gaslighting for Russia for so long, that he believes his own bullshit, and that his farts don't smell.

It is as part of the BRICS.

It can be part of whatever it likes. If it wasn't for Agent Kraznov helping Russia at every turn, they would already be a bankrupt economy. I don't see the GOP surviving the midterms, so Trump will be more concerned with all the investigations that will suddenly unfold, and Russia can go back to losing everything for nothing.

sentrypetal Apr 19, 2026 -17
It won’t because China is its biggest trading partner.

China is more concerned with Taiwan. They aren't going to get themselves in a war with Europe just so Vlad can feel good about himself.

Taiwan doesn't have oil that China needs to run it's economic engine and Russia is buying weapons and parts from China as is Iran. China just received Taiwan KMT leader for a meeting, they already got a foothold and will likely take Taiwan diplomatically over time

A diplomatic integration of the two would be lovely. Conversations about mutual need and benefits. Credible power sharing. Pluralistic in approach, where many cultures thrive! But wait. I don't think that is what China has planned. They are thinking more like the integration that happens between the shark and the mackeral.

They should change that to BICS. Russia is not emerging, it is submerging. And even before it started an unnecessary war it was borderline stagnating.

No, it isnt

Lavrov helped make Ukraine a powerhouse so he's not wrong

SanDiedo Apr 19, 2026 +18
Is he calling China an "emerging economy"? Or is he calling leftovers of Russian economy "emerging"? Lol!

suddenstutter Apr 19, 2026 +3
Good question

5
artguy55 Apr 19, 2026 +3
..or is Russia just losing all theirs

hornswoggled111 Apr 19, 2026 +3
Russia and China totally flipped since the end of "the great war". Population and gdp per capita. And population.

Maximum_Succotash_50 Apr 19, 2026 +8
Is there objective evidence that this trend is already underway?
8
Virtual-Alps-2888 Apr 19, 2026 +9
It is in a nominal sense true, but it had always been true. When America was 'developing', it was outpacing Britain's economic growth. When Germany and Japan was developing post-WWII, they were outpacing the former Allied powers, and when China is slowing now, India is growing faster than China. It is saying a lot of nothing.

PoolOfLava Apr 19, 2026 +8
It's russia, they drank all their sense away, so it's all posturing now.

Like I said before in the war thread, old people need to be off mikes and politics altogether. Chatting rubbish every now and then. Its tiring.

Mr_Joanito Apr 19, 2026 +1
We can see the US trying another coup here in Brazil with the Bolsonaros again. Hope they don't vote for our Trump, Argentina people are eating donkey meat now...
1
xavia91 Apr 19, 2026 +1
I mean yes they are certainly catching up to Russia's still very powerful and totally not fucked economy
1
Zeranor Apr 19, 2026 +1
Well, that's somewhat the meaning of "emerging". Otherwise it would be called "second tier economies that are never going to catch up". Doesnt mean every emerging market will be on top anytime soon, but serious competition is possible for some candidates (or already the case). Also: Russia got itself degraded from emerging market to sinking market

Overall_Swordfish883 Apr 19, 2026 +1
Horseface Lavrov spreading more BS as usual
1
pisteoffpvalue Apr 19, 2026 -1
Sure, the emerging economies that totally are going to catch up soon. People are going to care about Brazil’s opinion on things any day now.
-1
ALifeWellLift Apr 19, 2026 +21
They should. Not only is it the largest country in South America by far terms of geography and economy, but the arrogance of belittling anyone not in our "club" is what drives these countries towards our competitors.

For10YearsAtLeast7 Apr 19, 2026 +4
If Europe didn't care, it would not piss it's collective pants whenever the likes of Mexico, Brazil and India made business with China and Russia.
4
sentrypetal Apr 19, 2026 +2
They already do. Brazil is the anchor of South America and I would not be surprised if the US tries to take out its leader. The US had to cave on its 50% tariff on Brazil because it is now economically mighty enough not to need US trade to prosper.
2
Ok-Addition1264 Apr 19, 2026 +1
Considering the amount of beef the US buys from them - we kinda do.

BOPSurfcasting1 Apr 19, 2026 -5
In 30 years China and India will hold the top two spots for largest economies according to chatgpt.
-5
Loose_Skill6641 Apr 19, 2026 +2
neither are an emerging economy so lavrov isn't talking about them
2
hdhdbshshshsush Apr 19, 2026 +1
india isnt an emerging economy?
1
BOPSurfcasting1 Apr 19, 2026 -2
From chatgpt: China and India are considered **emerging economies** because they are in a transitional stage between developing and fully developed economic systems. The label is less about size alone and more about *where they are in their development path*.
-2
AnxiousSuccotash2785 Apr 19, 2026 +1
China will probably over take the US but India would likely be 3rd rather than 2nd because of ineffective government policies and corruption. There is potential to do it but i don't think India will be there in 30 years.
1
BOPSurfcasting1 Apr 19, 2026 -4
It will be close. But in 50 years India is No.1 according to chatgpt
