Doesn't the EU have stricter internet regulations than the US?

staybehind23 23 hr ago +7
It's strict when it comes to gore, child p*** and hate speech, not in discussing politics.

The US government doesn't want to stop political conversation. Yet They want to know who, in particular, is saying bad things about them. ICE wants people identified.

Well, there is a difference between saying shit like "ICE sucks", "Trump needs to get out of office" and saying "ICE agents need to be killed", "Can someone organize an assasination?" You try to advocate for "Free speech" but you know very well that hate does not go into that category (except for when it suits you). (I bet I'm on a list now)

There's US regulation against discussing politics?

Trump admin removed had Speech safeguards removed. I for one would prefer social media to be more moderated like it was during Covid. Trump has plenty of authoritarian dreams, but he's run out of policial captial to do anything more and in 6 months his party will lose control of Congress and with that he will become a lame duck president. I get the hyperbole, but it's just not applicable on this topic.

> and hate speech, not in discussing politics. How convenient that the policies you support are legal to discuss and the ones you oppose are "hate speech."

EU regulations are rubbish, create bureaucracy, hinder the user, and don't solve anything

Does Europe require uploading a picture of your face or drivers license to access all the common adult sites or is that just a US thing? Genuine question since I don't know much about their side and no comment even referenced that we have that here as an unofficial regulation.

That's a state thing. Some states have stricter controls on p*** than others. Related some states are putting in more controls on adolescents accessing social media too. I support the social media stuff. Not sure how I feel about the p***, I guess it depends on the method.

They're no different than Russians. I don't see the issue in making that analogy.

Thank you. Have fun in your fascist wonderland. You have no idea what you're in for, but it will be lovely watching the results in the safety of Europe.

I question your safety in Europe if you think russia is same as US.

Nah, we have alternatives online already. Too many rural areas don't have traditional ISPs and set up their own network along with decentralized data archives.

How does one connect to the internet without an ISP?
3
New-Anybody-6206 1 day ago +2
I think they are referring to an entirely different, smaller "internet" of their own, with only local servers available to connect to.

Athena_Pegasus 1 day ago
It's like a private Internet with its own isp, but small scale and slower. People set up servers in their cabins and homesteads with their neighbors, along with antenas and whatever else they need. Data from the mainstream Internet like Wikipedia can be downloaded on portable hard drives then uploaded to the private network.

we’ve been hearing about public discontent in russia for years. The truth is they’re a slave nation with slave mentality and they will stay that way even if you take away all their freedoms.

First of all how many dictatorships did you overthrow? For example US president is a pedo and ICE been killing people for nothing, are USA citizens slaves too? There were some protests which led to nothing. Are chinese people slaves?
