> Russian z-bloggers are watching Hungary’s vote and, judging by the interim projections, some already look disappointed. Translated screenshots at https://bsky.app/profile/wartranslated.bsky.social/post/3mjd2nnouds2c

On behalf of all Ukrainians I’d like to thank the US president and vice president for supporting Viktor Orban’s election bid and helping make the world a better place.

Yeah, their "whatever touched turns to shit" approach has been very helpful.

Just to be clear, this was all about Peter Magyar, Tisza and the Hungarian opposition: 1. Magyar has been campaigning non-stop for two years 2. Tisza adopted a broad pro-democratic and anti-Orbanese corruption platform and avoided infighting where they do not agree. Political volunteers worked day and night for change 3. The rest of the opposition decided to not run, so that Tisza would have a better chance of defeating Orban. 4. Hungarians are tired of Orban and ready to try something else. Most outside Budapest don't give a shit about Trump or Vance when it comes to how they'll vote.

His polls reportedly dropped 3% after Vance visit alone. Even if that's fake news, Hungarians from all over the EU came home to vote Orban out, and believe the most stable genius absolutely helped galvanize those people. Voter turnout was record high for this election. What you're describing is the basic minimum the Hungarians should have done years ago to unfuck their mess, but they haven't until now. Of course Magyar campaigned for years, how else do you get elected?

The second part of your comment doesn’t help make your point.

Yeah, just joking. Impressive work by democratic opposition. Similiar with ending PIS in Poland, although people who voted for disgusting, authocratic, corrupted, Putin-servant traitor don't go away. These "leaders" don't suddenly appear, but are result of a society, so a lot of work ahead by Tisha not only on improving the condition of the state, but also driving change in society, becouse Orban may come back in few years, like Trump did, like right wing parties in Poland do now. Sad reality.
