Dude here as well raised by Soaps and babysitters… Was that the lady that was possessed and died multiple times?

I believe she was possessed at some point.

She was possessed twice! The second time around the demon started with her and then bounced around to other characters.

She was also captured and held in a giant bird cage

Same. I was in middle school and had a day where I was home sick or something. My step mom always had it on. Anyway, one day I saw Krista Allen as Billie. I was like, “heeyyyy, who’s this???” She was the reason I kept watching, but I ended up loving the entire show.

Krista Allen is my number one most beautiful woman ever. That show had a lot of hotties. Can’t remember names but there was a blonde Brady I think, the taller one. And another brunette, Hope I think. Marlaina was good looking too.

Rushed home from school to watch General Hospital back in the 80’s. Sick days were spent with junk food watching The Price is Right, All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.

Funfact: DC's Harley Quinn was modeled after a scene with Calliope in a clownsuit (Calliope and Eugene arc).

considering how audiences have swung back to wanting new content and stories every day to watch, I'm surprised American soaps aren't trying to cater towards younger audiences and tap into that market like the rest of the world has. They're the perfect medium for screen addicts and drama lovers. But the few American soaps left insist on keeping the same aging casts and only appealing to old viewers. They're impossible to jump into. Would love for there to be a revival of the medium here. I love dailies from other countries. It's an incredibly difficult format to pull off and it's a shame American culture decided to just treat them like a joke and professional suicide instead of respecting how it's essentially live theater and seeing its potential.

They watch “real life” soap operas through shows like The Bachelor/ette, Secret Wives of Whocares, etc.

This is the real reason. C**** to produce and they self-sustain by the “stars” generating their own drama outside of the show. They’re a bunch of wind-up toys you can just let loose.

That's just an extension of the people who watched Dallas and Dynasty too

Totally, which is proof we DO have people that would be into it if they actually tried again. Reality tv is its own kind of trashy "non-fiction" storytelling for a pretty narrow audience, whereas dailies can be taken very seriously about all kinds of topics for different people. They're the main local productions for most countries and can be genuinely good. There's period piece ones and comedies and ones for younger audiences and the elderly and most are multi-generational (which American media lacks in general). Some are only meant to last one year, others are like normal shows and go for 3-10, and others are long-running for decades like American soaps. It has all kinds of potential. Would love if Hollywood was somehow able to revitalize the soap reputation and get some new ones in development that are more modern. The ones currently going aren't worth trying to rebrand and should just die out the way they insist on going.

Agree. I watched the abc soaps back in their heyday, was just telling my kid how I had been watching Nathan Fillion since he was a teenager on One Life to Live.

I like how Ryan uses his platform to boost other performers, instead of taking random shots at other art forms.

Ryan posted it himself. It just remains to be seen if it’ll happen. But being so public about it I’m guessing he follows through.
