Ryan Gosling has the second greatest filmography of these last ten years.

Posted by West_Conclusion_1239

Ryan Gosling has the second greatest filmography of these last ten years. Seriously, aside from Leonardo DiCaprio (and maybe Joaquin Phoenix) he has the best run of films anyone can boast in these last ten years. Look at the catalogue: 2016: The Nice Guys 2016: La La Land 2017: Song To Song 2017: Blade Runner 2049 2018: First Man 2022: The Gray Man 2023: Barbie 2024: The Fall Guy 2026: Project Hail Mary And his upcoming movies: 2027: Star Wars: Starfighter 2027: Untitled Daniels Film Not to say it's without flaws, some of those are not at the same level, but he's probably one of the top three best pickers of potentially great scripts and projects in the film industry right now. It's a remarkable run.

Plus there's all the great films he did before 2016 - Drive - Crazy, Stupid Love - A Place Beyond the Pines - Lars and the Real Girl - Half Nelson - Blue Valentine

And don't forget The Big Short where he genuinely transformed into 'Not Ryan Gosling' and put in a terrific performance in a movie of amazing performances

The Nice Guys was such a good movie, a crime more people haven’t seen it.

I remember seeing a thread of people hating on it a little while ago. Like... what are you hating on? This movie was amazing. Are you hating that you didn't see it sooner?

Idk man, many of these are not that remarkable. Di Caprio on the other hand has the run going from 2004

I think Florence Pugh is in this conversation. She has to be in the top 5, imo. Not all these movies are great, obviously, but most are. Lady Macbeth Outlaw King Fighting with My Family Midsommar Little Women Black Widow Hawkeye The Wonder Puss in Boots: The Last Wish A Good Person Oppenheimer The Boy and the Heron Dune: Part Two We Live in Time Thunderbolts Marvel Zombies Upcoming: East of Eden Dune: Part Three Avengers: Doomsday And if she survives it, probably more Marvel to come.

Think he’s just been great for like 30 years at this point, not a ton of duds, basically no gutter balls

Agreed and some great evolution in the career as well from the newest hunk to weird/indie to now blockbuster. Tons of great range!

I don’t like any of those movies. I think Jake Gyllenhaal is better than him.

Gosling does it best when he plays fast and loose with more comedic and relaxed roles, like The Nice Guys, The Fall Guy and Project Hail Mary. This straight faced "cool" hero type (Drive, Blade Runner) is not that interesting, in my opinion.

He is making great choices.

Not being in any of the super hero movies allows Ryan and Leo to stack movies. Those type flics take so long timewise to film and release. No doubt RDJ or ScarJo could have done the same.

Greatest by what metric?

He has done some great films! It's hars to find a film he is bad in. Even if the film isn't great I think he always turns up and works hard

Since 2015, Jessie Plemons has had roles in 7 different films that have been nominated for best picture. Mahershala Ali has won two best supporting actor Oscars in the last ten years. I think one could argue Emma Stone and Timothy Chalamet have had the most impressive filmographies in the last ten years going by budget/ boxoffice ratio and industry awards.

What a great critique of his work. Which movies suck? Some of them. Why do they suck? They just do. Excellent critiquing.  Slow clap for you.

2016: The Nice Guys - didn't do anything for me, too long 2016: La La Land - fine for what it is, I guess 2017: Song To Song - never saw it 2017: Blade Runner 2049 - pretty good 2018: First Man - never saw it 2022: The Gray Man - boring, bland 2023: Barbie - fine, I guess 2024: The Fall Guy - never saw it, no interest based on trailer 2026: Project Hail Mary - haven't seen it yet

Which ones would you say suck? The only one on the list I hadn't seen (or heard of, honestly) was Song to Song. Every other entry on the list has been at the *very least* decent, most are good-to-great in my opinion.

Agreed. I'd say it's rivaled by Chalamet. His catalogue since '18 is insane too.

> If you add up all of his IMDb movie ratings from the past 10 years, it beats every other actor..... combined. I honestly cannot find any way to interpret this that makes any sense at all

not hard when you have like one minute of screentime in 99% of them
