>The attack came just one day after a former student roamed the corridors of another school in the same region, shooting at will. He wounded 16 but killed only himself. >"There have been two attacks, in a very short period, both in cities with lower incomes," says Prof Asli Carkoglu, an expert in teen psychology. "These things do have a way of spreading." >She is worried the deadly shooting here could become "an example for young minds that are frustrated enough". >The attack was a tragedy but "not a surprise" to people like her who work with young adults and adolescents, she said. >"There have been stabbings, beatings and attempted suicides in the school system," she told the BBC. "The guns weren't there before, but the violence was." I'm going to sound like an old fogie but, social media is making the world insane. Obviously there are other factors but outrage is up across the board

And social media showed them this stuff happening in the US and possibly made them want to replicate it. I will never understand what goes in the heads of those who do these acts. What possible purpose could there be in doing it? Shooting random people?

Having had a shitty youth myself and being filled with hatred for most of it. I wanted out but before I went, I wanted to take as many with me as possible. For me the individual didn't matter, everyone was guilty. By association, inaction or action. The country I grew up in doesn't have easy access to firearms. Knives didn't seem like an option to me, as the final step with a knife seemed like it would be very difficult or even impossible. Fortunately I never acted on any of it and didn't hurt anyone, grew up to be a somewhat (imo) functional adult. I'm not claiming to know what went through their minds, maybe they where different, maybe they where just like me but had access to the tools.

Same here, trauma case and would have if I could have at that age. It's been difficult to process as an adult. Glad nothing happened and life went on, for both of us. Solidarity 💛

I find social media of school shootings the least likely root cause for youth wanting to do school shooting... - Psychological harm - Physical harm - Emotional distress, or unstable Etc, etc, and etc... Just some of MORE likely causes, because you have to stop think what trigger someone to commit such acts, and lead them down such path, and thing is youth can easily persuaded, and even manipulated, as not everyone learn the fastest, think the same, or has learned , or even understands what are consequences, guilt, moral, and etc.... As well there is the fact how people abuse others from bullying, causing trauma, peer pressuring, and more...

They went right to blaming video games, just like the US did.

Young people are praising the shootings. Then the police are arresting them for doing that. It's a mess over there.

So does this mean all of those Onion "'No Way to Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens" references will stop? I mean, there's two, now, right?

I'm always amazed by the "school shootings are normal" weirdos that crawl out of cracks when these things happen.

Maybe wait until "regularly" applies
