The Republican Party doesn't care about our soldiers who are dying in this stupid war.

Long post incoming. Set calendar reminders of when early voting starts and registration deadlines for your state, request PTO if you can't vote early/on election day, double check your voter registration, screenshot and share this with a friend, and hit the booths together! **Verify you have not been removed from being a registered voter now, and set a reminder to check again in the months before any election in case you need to re-register. There are reports of people silently being removed from state voter rolls.** Check your voter registration, upcoming registration and voting deadlines, and register to vote by searching for your state at: - https://www.usa.gov/state-election-office Look up your upcoming local and statewide elections for the year: - https://ballotpedia.org/Elections_calendar Find information on your local election's candidates, their backgrounds, answers, and past actions, **and then print out your selections to take to the polls**: - https://www.vote411.org/ballot Find individuals and entities that contribute to candidates: - https://www.transparencyusa.org/ - https://www.opensecrets.org/ **Information regarding the potential passing of the SAVE Act and similar statewide bills below** **Note: REAL ID and Social Security Cards may not qualify for voting purposes if the SAVE Act and similar state bills pass without changes to their current form, as the above cards do not state citizenship status.** So in preparation for a possible passing of the bill, it would be important to begin the process of obtaining a passport or birth certificate, certificate of naturalization and state ID that matches your current name, and a marriage certificate or divorce decree if your current name does not match. Links on how to request are below. **It can take weeks to months to obtain these documents now, even without the system being backed up due to others jumping in on the process in the near future.** - https://www.usps.com/international/passports.htm - https://www.usa.gov/birth-certificate - https://www.uscis.gov/n-565 - https://www.usa.gov/marriage-certificate - https://www.usa.gov/divorce-decree Informative articles on the SAVE Act, which could affect the way everyone votes if it passes. Reach out to your state Senators regarding your thoughts on the bill. https://www.americanprogress.org/article/the-save-act-would-disenfranchise-millions-of-citizens/ https://bipartisanpolicy.org/article/five-things-to-know-about-the-save-act/ https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/how-the-save-america-act-would-make-major-changes-to-voting Sign up to be a paid election worker! Are you going to get a veto proof 2/3rds? Congress is never going to stop the imperial president with their current tools and there's no interest in changing them. The current process let's these theatrics occur for fund raising purposes.

He doesn’t get a veto on a war powers vote. Kinda the point

He literally does. Kinda the point. It'd be nice if people understood how their government works. The original 1973 act tried to bypass the president, but the Supreme Court ruled in 1983 (INS v. Chadha) that Congress can't do that. Now they have to use Joint Resolutions, which are absolutely subject to a veto. We've seen this play out multiple times in just the last few years... Trump vetoed a bipartisan War Powers resolution on Yemen in 2019 (and another on Iran in 2020).. and in late 2022, Democrats heavily pressured Bernie Sanders into withdrawing his own Yemen resolution right before the vote precisely to spare Biden from having to veto it. Neither party gives a shit.. and they don't need to since the electorate doesn't know how their government works and memory holes everything their team does.

To add, check that your ballot is COUNTED. Many are finding that theirs never were last election.

When Republicans do something it's always Congress. When Democrats do something it's Democrats. I swear this is how it plays out regardless of which party has a majority

*Republicans block again.

Even though I doubt Republicans actually care about the economic, material, or personnel cost of the "war". They seem to be void of any responsibility. Instead, complicit in allowing the orange POS and his admin. to commit war crimes as long as they "are not" responsible. They are about as useful as a wet paper bag. Edit: spelling /grammar

At least all Republicans are on record. They own the economic fallout as much as Trump.

Bold of you to assume anybody who votes R blames their political party for anything negative.

Read a comment on the conservative sub about Iran declining a peace deal. And it’s astounding how they know Iran is pretty much winning because they accept they will lose a lot of their military but just as long as the US suffers internally, it’s a net positive. These people clearly haven’t learned since Bush Jr. And put their messiah at the helm? The commentor was correct….but I wanted to yell “No shit Sherlock…”

In other words, the Senate has voted to allow a war to be fought without a declaration of war being issued by Congress, as demanded by the Constitution. The Senate has further ceded power to the executive branch, weakened their reason for existence, and helped turn over the nation to a wannabe dictator.

That ceding occurred decades ago.. nothing is new here.

The US hasn't declared war since WW2.

All Republicans are fascist terrorists. And Fetterman too.

Most useless congress ever.

Honestly, if it wasn’t clear by now that Trump and the Republican party don’t care about our soldiers/veterans beyond using them as props for their “America first” routine then I don’t what more evidence one would need.

Gotta keep the war machine going so the FIFA Peace Prize President can continue manipulating the markets.

Um, this is clearly just a stunt, folks. Even if it passed, it wouldn't actually stop Trump...and everyone knows it. So, this is one of those "gee, shucks, we tried and failed " moments in modern American governance.

>The 53-47 vote was the latest attempt by Democrats to give Congress a say in the nearly one-month war and part of an effort by several Democratic senators to continue forcing votes on war powers resolutions until top Trump officials publicly testify about the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, a libertarian who routinely supports measures to assert Congress’s role in authorizing the use of military force abroad, was the only Republican to support the resolution, and Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the only Democrat to oppose it. The vote breakdown was similar to two prior measures to halt offensive U.S. military operations in Iran that have not been approved by lawmakers. The first resolution was introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., and the second was introduced by Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., as one of five separate measures meant to tie up the Senate floor with repeated votes on the issue. "Senate **Republicans** Block third attempt . . ."
