Republicans finally caved > The bill, which must still pass the House and be signed by President Donald Trump, marks an abrupt reversal for Republicans, who had blocked similar proposals backed by Democrats to partially funding for the department for weeks.

Not caving worked?  Chuck Schumer doing some serious introspection right now.

It wont be popular here, but this is a W for Schumer

Even the Baileys were calling for his removal I guess. He had to do something.

Does this mean we'll see less of the "controlled opposition" conspiracy theory?

Watch Jacobin say it's all Schumer's fault, and how it's bad for Democrats.

I don’t like Schumer but one of my biggest criticisms of him is caving in the face of Trump’s regime. If this actually passes and isn’t some disaster bill I have no problem giving him props.

lol they got nothing out of this deal. Completely gave up their leverage to actually get any changes to ICE. The GOP will just do the extra funding through reconciliation now.

did we ever get that vote on healthcare?

just a reminder that our government can solve a "crisis" in one overnight session as soon as it starts affecting their own travel plans. everyone else had to wait six weeks and miss their flights for this exact same deal.

Senate Republicans accepted what Democrats have been offering for weeks — cash for all of DHS except for ICE and part of Customs and Border Protection. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/03/27/senate-dhs-funding-deal-00847949

Thank God! About time ICE/CBP was robbed of its piggy bank. Happy to see the rest of DHS back open, while the iffy bit is shut down. Now, for it to pass the House. Fuuuun...

Im curious about which part of cbp will get funding? Hopefully just the admin HR people, just collecting a check hoping to get a better job later that isn't part of that agency.

Them and most likely the guys actually at the border, I think. Would make sense. No more internal ops.

Bulky_Preparation768 Mar 27, 2026 +1
ICE/CBP were already funded and will now just their extra money this fight was about through reconciliation

Oh WOW putting pressure on the Republicans works, honestly shocked the Dems didn't cave again. Dem w in my book.
