It's not meant to help, it's meant to intimidate.

Terrorism. They are there to terrorize civilians.

I'd like to think they are just speedrunning ICE's demise by putting them in a very public place where ICE agents, hammers that only see a nail, brutalize people in said public setting, which just kicks off more public backlash. But that assumes we live in a world where public backlash means something.

They're doing a terrible job of it because in all the videos coming out, these guys are just standing around looking like lost, useless lumps

I am so tired of this lardass making every bad choice possible.

They're not meant to help, they're meant to get you used to living in a police state

This…. how quickly humans normalize new pathologies

Counter point, this great because they’ll be in an enclosed space with cameras and cellphones everywhere and they will be harassing/mugging statistically affluent people

Are you saying that guys who can't tell their asses from a hole in the ground are of no help? I'm shocked!

Best case scenario they stand around and act as “security”, but stay out of the way of actual TSA officers.

Take decisive, tough sounding action first. Then figure out why you are doing it or how it would work later. I can't think of a way that sending in the President's private secret police would improve anything. Neither can the Administration.

I honestly don't mind this dumb idea. First, there actually aren't that many ICE officers. Sending them to airports keeps them off the street, so they'll be harassing fewer of the people they were brought in to harass. People in airports tend to have all the necessary documents to travel, so it's much less likely that they'll find people to disappear while they're working the airports playing at security theater. Second, it exposes their faces. This is a huge help when it comes to reining them in down the line. Third, it exposes people who normally wouldn't be exposed to ICE to the joke that is ICE. This both makes them less scary, and it forces people who have blinders on about the truth of ICE. Since we all know how effectively those goons are trained, I expect them to make a mockery of the process and piss off even more people than they already have.

There aren’t that many Ice officers?? There’s more ice agents than there are TSA agents. Also ice isn’t trained to do the job of tsa. This is just another tactic of his to terrorize and harass people traveling. The airport is already stressful alone, add I.C.E to the mix, it’s waitin for a disaster to take course in airports. Soon people will stop traveling to avoid the frustration and stress altogether. Then what, is he gonna bring I.C.E to our jobs? This is ridiculous and doesn’t make sense: if they funded TSA, NONE of this nonsense would be happening. Tourism is gone.

Those are the only ideas Trump has anymore.

lizkbyer Mar 23, 2026 +3
Lots to criticize about this dumb decision, but I see two bright spots. 1 it’s that many less ice agents on the street and 2 we get to see their beautiful faces.

They're not sent to help, they're sent because Trump thinks sending ICE to places is some kinda threat to Dems. Well we all know this will in all likelihood end in one of three ways. Some Dem not seeking re-election will cave at the last minute for some "unknown" (see: bribe) reason, the airlines will get pissed at a profit dip and Trump will TACO or (hopefully not this one) the some untrained ICE agent will overstep their bounds resulting in injuries or worse to some innocent person or people (which they will then blame on Dems for not knuckling under).

cycling-expat Mar 23, 2026 +2
i am all for it actually. They will be doing nothing in there and they will be less likely or able to shoot people in the head.

Persea_americana Mar 23, 2026 +2
Just pay TSA. How come ICE is both expensive and sucks and yet gets paid a billion dollars for terrorizing US cities? There's enough money and people to throw overpaid, untrained ICE agents into airports but Trump won't fund the TSA unless he can disenfranchise millions of voters.

lol, this must be doing wonders for the tourism industry in Yankistan.

Assist TSA lmao yeah totally what they are there for

philabuster_60 Mar 23, 2026 +1
Because the national guard would be more qualified?
1
space_coder Mar 23, 2026 +1
Trump is just demonstrating that he has goons that he can send anywhere for whatever reason he makes up.

ConnectionJust9118 Mar 23, 2026 +1
does anyone else find it concerning that having masked men makes it easier for bad actors to put a mask on and pretend they're ICE and hijack a plane??

donut-hypnosis Mar 23, 2026 +1
It’s not meant to help. It’s meant to be disruptive and chaotic.
1
Sensitive-Flamingo84 Mar 23, 2026 +1
The videos from airports today have been so fucked up.
1
Low-Doughnut5738 Mar 23, 2026 +1
How is supposed to help. ICE can’t open up another lane for check-in, hop on the TSA pre check lane.

shelbys_foot Mar 23, 2026 +1
On brand for this administration then.
1
Bishopjones2112 Mar 23, 2026 +1
Of course it helps, the lines get smaller as ICE detains everyone. Also who is going to stay in line when ICE is shooting people in face.
1
Nizle_Bizle_Shizle Mar 23, 2026 +1
They're trying to normalize inserting these Nazi's into public spaces.

motohaas Mar 24, 2026 +1
This should solidify their incompetence

Cool are they going to help prevent air traffic controllers from killing more Canadian pilots? Or will they stick to killing US citizens?

They aren't supposed to help. They are supposed to make you terrified to try to leave
