If Peacock backs up the money bin, I’d rather see a tight 6-episode Season 3 than a movie. Ted’s jokes land better with the “hangout” pacing anyway.

I'd be happy with a Vacation movie of the Bennetts.

robot_pirate_ghost 16 hr ago +95
Vacation trips of the 90s. No GPS, no Buc-ees. No cellphones. The kids trying to score weed away from their dealer. The parents outside their daily routine bubble trying new things. Hijinks ensue. I'd watch it.
95
FrankeninDolly 16 hr ago +34
Absolutely. Maybe Blaire is moving out to Californiaonia, so they go out and visit her. good reason why they are taking the trip
34
Kevbot1000 16 hr ago +22
Boom. Perfect. Seth, if you're reading, this is it.
22
FrankeninDolly 15 hr ago +3
I still think they should bring Marky Mark back if they do a movie, though. A quick montage of him growing up "And this is where John discovered steroid." in Patrick Stewart's voice, then it just cuts to Mark Wahlberg. Can explain the transition in actors.
3
reble02 11 hr ago +6
I want them to explain it away as Ted and Ted 2 are bio-pics and John would only let famous Bostonian Mark Wahlberg play him in the movies.
6
Kevbot1000 15 hr ago +6
If it's like, a single scene cameo, then sure.
6
FrankeninDolly 15 hr ago +4
right at the very end, so it can tie in to Ted one.
4
StFuzzySlippers 16 hr ago +11
Actually, you might be able to get a full 90-minutes of just Ted getting lost in a Buc-ees
11
RecordingSilly6118 16 hr ago +6
Buccees was founded in 82 though it just wasn't a viral thing
6
droans 14 hr ago +3
This is starting to sound a lot like A Goofy Movie but with weed.
3
Greatsnes 14 hr ago +1
So just A Goofy Movie?

robot_pirate_ghost 14 hr ago +4
Here's what could happen once they reach their destination... At the beach, Matty says sunscreen is a Democrat hoax, and he gets a scorching sunburn. He tries to kick a jellyfish thinking it's somebody's giant snotrocket and gets stung. Susan gets swept up in the tide and is rescued by a Baywatch type hot male lifeguard. She's brought back to Matty and sees that he's stung. The lifeguard says Matty needs someone to pee on him. Matty is disgusted and tells the lifeguard that he's not gay like that. Susan offers to pee on him, but she needs to drink more Capri sun first. John and Ted try to hit on girls in bikinis, but fail. They make fun of a kid building a sand castle... but then realize they could make a much better castle so they start to build a huge one and even ignore a few hot girls that ask them about it. Claire is dressed in full 90s clothes, not in a bathing suit and she's trying to read a book under an umbrella. She sees a girl get pushed around by her meathead boyfriend, and she stands up for her, and they become friends. The boyfriend kicks Ted and Johns sandcastle, who then declare war on the meathead with Blaire joining forces.

Like a 90s Harold and Kumar-style Vacation movie

2
AverageAwndray 10 hr ago +2
Tbf that was a long time ago. He's really grown into an actor.
2
MrMono1 12 hr ago +1
I know Marky Mark's not a good actor, but even Pacino couldn't pull off that line.
1
twilighttwister 11 hr ago +1
He even does the accent better. But to be clear they're not talking about a movie with Walberg, instead with the TV show cast.
1
zenlume 10 hr ago +2
Mark Wahlberg is literally from Boston.
2
hallumyaymooyay 10 hr ago +1
What’s hangout pacing?
1
shadespectrum 9 hr ago +1
I would guess how the show has many extended scenes of John and Ted just hanging out and doing random stuff, with longer jokes and conversations that don’t really advance the main plot of the episode much. Not a lot of time for scenes like that in a movie.
1
zenlume 10 hr ago +1
More cost effective to make a money, though.
1
AevnNoram 17 hr ago +107
“It really is up to to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day,” said MacFarlane, who has said in the past that he’s not sure Peacock will want to bankroll another season of the series. “I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. It’s all on the table.”

Sacred-AF 9 hr ago -2
This is what artistic expression has become… ‘I’d love to make my art, but only if it will make me even richer than I already am.’ AKA, not art.
-2
SparkyMuffin 17 hr ago +83
I'd love a season 3. Ted really found its groove in season 2, and the humor and pacing works way better as a series
83
SolenoidSoldier 13 hr ago +17
I never laughed so hard than I did at the episode that ended with the husband paying the dad to watch him bang his wife. Peak comedy.
17
SparkyMuffin 13 hr ago +5
It's something where it sounds terrible when you tell someone about it but the execution is just so f****** good
5
AlecMcEwanExpedition 15 hr ago +24
It’s basically live action Family Guy or American Dad, and I’ve loved every episode. It’s surprisingly earnest and extremely crass all at the same time.
24
MVRKHNTR 13 hr ago +5
>It’s basically live action Family Guy or American Dad Nah, it's much better than Family Guy and most of American Dad.
5
lestye 13 hr ago +3
Yeah, there's a joke in Ted season 2, which I feel is regurgitated Family Guy, the one where Jon's jizz made his socks/sheets into shatterable material. It was odd to me, because I feel while the characters/logic of Ted is grounded (barring the bear), it doesnt really have cartoony physics like that? Anyway, they did pretty much the same joke with Chris on Family Guy.
3
prodigalAvian 14 hr ago +5
DnD episode clips on various socials have hooked a lot of buddies who didn't know the show existed. Also, the episode where the dad realizes he doesn't appreciate his wife enough is genuinely solid storytelling.
5
Shadow_Edgehog27 13 hr ago +2
It’s super funny, I’m sad there are no plans to make more
2
bolonomadic 17 hr ago +225
You know what he and Peacock need to be saving their money for? Ensuring that Dungeon Crawler Carl doesn’t suck.
225
TheSecondEikonOfFire 16 hr ago +31
I just started the third book, and there is no way that they’ll be able to do this live action. They would need an utterly insane budget. Even just Donut alone being in essentially every scene will cost a lot, let alone the rest of this insane world
31
Xelisk 16 hr ago +32
Animated with Jeff Hayes voicing everyone was the easiest slam dunk in history and they fumbled it.
32
TravisKilgannon 15 hr ago +10
He **has** to be the voice of the System AI imo. Anyone else would not do it justice.
10
ChronoMonkeyX 11 hr ago +1
He has to be Donut more than anything else. Hays makes the books, and Donut is the key.
1
chris9321 14 hr ago +1
I feel like the fans of DCC really harp on Jeff Hayes being an essential part of the storytelling. It’s a fun book series, and not every iteration needs to involve him. I’m a read only type of person, just confused why you can’t appreciate what Dinniman wrote without bringing him up.
1
justbeane 13 hr ago +3
It's great you enjoyed the book as a reader, and I know maybe people have. But I think it is probably fair to say that DCC would not have been the hit that it was without Hayes narrating the audiobook.
3
ChronoMonkeyX 11 hr ago
I can't imagine the book being better than just OK on paper. It's Hays that makes it what it is.
0
chilly-beans 10 hr ago +2
What is the point of commenting this if you haven’t read the books? I haven’t listened to the audio book but I’m sure it’s fantastic. I can assure you the books are also awesome.
2
PrepotenteScreams 12 hr ago +2
You wouldn't be confused anymore if you listened to the audiobook.
2
bearxor 11 hr ago +1
As another book-first reader I do mostly agree with you. The audiobooks are entertaining and I enjoyed listening to them after I read the books. And while I do definitely want Jeff to be involved in the series in some way I don’t think it has to be a major role.
1
TravisKilgannon 15 hr ago +4
Oh man, if you think the fourth floor would be impractical in live action just wait until you hit the ninth floor. Certifiably ludicrous shit awaits you.
4
BurmeciaWillSurvive 14 hr ago -6
Sure, I agree with you, but when you get to the fourteenth floor it becomes super-doable in live action, especially with the conversations. They can just jump-cut after the fourth to save the budget imo
-6
TravisKilgannon 14 hr ago +1
Fourteenth floor? The hell are you on about, books haven't even reached the twelfth floor
1
BurmeciaWillSurvive 14 hr ago -3
I've literally never heard of the series before this exact moment, I didn't even know they were making it into a TV show. It has to be pretty niche, innit?
-3
mashington14 13 hr ago +4
No. It’s one of the most popular book series of the last decade and is growing more and more popular with every new release.
4
BurmeciaWillSurvive 11 hr ago -2
I haven't read any book since 2016 so that checks out tbh; I thought it was an anime or even just a manga from the way everyone was talking
-2
pimpintuna 11 hr ago +1
Probably less niche than Freya and Sir Fratley, to be fair.

BurmeciaWillSurvive 11 hr ago +2

WebHead1287 16 hr ago +5
Id rather just have Ted season 3. I say this as a massive DCC fan. Live action show is just not going to have the needed budget. Needs to be animated or movies
5
The_Vampire_Barlow 16 hr ago +16
Everyone's said how expensive the CGI will be on DCC. I don't want CGI. I don't want animation either. I want puppets. Just a f*** ton of puppets and makeup and prosthetics. GIVE ME DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL VIA THE JIM HENSON COMPANY!
16
TurkeyVolumeGuesser 15 hr ago +8
Unironically yes, they'd kill it
8
ChronoMonkeyX 11 hr ago +1
Uncommon opinion, but you are definitely right. Farscape did it, DCC could.
1
bolonomadic 14 hr ago +1
Puppets are possibly the only thing more expensive than CGI?
1
The_Vampire_Barlow 14 hr ago +2
No matter how they do the series it'll be prohibitively expensive. Especially later seasons. So if they're going to do it then I want puppets.
2
ACatNamedShame 16 hr ago +2
I have no faith
2
TopazandNumbyHSR 17 hr ago -1
No please...are they really trying to make a TV show out of one of my favorite series...? There is no way in hell it will look good...
-1
bolonomadic 17 hr ago +17
They are and they say it’s going to be live action not animated and I’m so worried.
17
TopazandNumbyHSR 17 hr ago +6
Peacock doesn't even come close to having the kinda money they'd need for a live action adaptation...this isn't gonna be pretty... Hopefully it gets more people to buy the books at the very least...
6
carlos_the_dwarf_ 16 hr ago +6
Peacock is NBC/Universal, if they don’t have enough money, no one does.
6
TopazandNumbyHSR 16 hr ago -7
Networks don't give their entire net worth out to create a single show. They aren't going to give the showrunners nearly the amount they would need to make it good. Didn't think this needed explaining.
-7
carlos_the_dwarf_ 16 hr ago +4
Don’t see a reason to be condescending, but (1) you framed it as a question of affordability, and (2) there’s no reason to think they would give it less than some other studio.
4
TopazandNumbyHSR 16 hr ago -5
There isn't any studio that could do this series justice. It shouldn't be being made in the first place. That's the point.
-5
carlos_the_dwarf_ 16 hr ago +5
Oh, then maybe say that instead of getting mad at someone who responds to the words you actually say. (I think you’re incorrect that DCC needs some kind of legendary budget.)
5
TopazandNumbyHSR 16 hr ago -5
I'm totally so mad right now. Seething even. Grrrrrr.
-5
_tylerthedestroyer_ 17 hr ago +1
Wasn’t Twisted Metal pretty good?
1
TopazandNumbyHSR 16 hr ago +10
It was ok. Dungeon Crawler Carl would require so much CGI there is no shot in hell it will come out looking like anything other than a mid 00s SciFi channel show.
10
hi-fen-n-num 13 hr ago +2
> there is no shot in hell it will come out looking like anything other than a mid 00s SciFi channel show. you say that like it's a bad thing.

Ted is so much better as a tv series than the movies were. I credit it to the great cast they put together. I hope it sees a season 3
36
Rob_LeMatic 11 hr ago +5
I almost didn't give the series a chance because of how mediocre I thought the movies were. It's the most laugh out loud show I've seen in years and I hope they get a third season.
5
Sparrowsabre7 10 hr ago +2
OK I'm gonna have to check it out then, the DND clip I saw with the mum talking down a demon was hilarious.
2
YouGurt_MaN14 10 hr ago +1
Same, besides American Dad I don't like Seth McFarlane all that much. But I had seen a few posts say it was genuinely good so I gave it a watch. Also I was so surprised it got a season 2 I had no idea they were even filming so that was a nice surprise to binge
1
AverageAwndray 10 hr ago

Mrchristopherrr 16 hr ago +4
Agreed. I thought the movies were fine (1 was pretty funny but forgettable, 2 was just forgettable), but I LOVE the series and have watched it twice since season 2 dropped. The dynamics just work better.

C_smith993 17 hr ago +168
You know what would be even better than another Ted movie? Season 4 of The Orville.
168
Underwater_Karma 17 hr ago +80
Here's my pitch... The Orville discovers Ted's home planet. An entire planet of Ted's. They're super annoying. Ted joins the crew. People keep getting confused if it's Ted or Ed talking

It's be kind of funny to try and explain with hard science why a shooting star brought the Ted bear to life. (Also his dad's firetruck from that episode)

[THR (March 3)](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/seth-macfarlane-the-orville-season-4-hulu-scripts-ted-1236519947/): > [MacFarlane] confirmed that Hulu would be ready to move forward on the new season, but his own packed schedule has made it challenging to find time for him to shoot. “The 10 scripts are done,” MacFarlane continues. “I’m the problem. It’s [a matter of] when I can make that my year, with all the other stuff we have in the works. But we can hit the ground running when it happens.”
2
bearxor 10 hr ago +2
He said he’s too busy to make. It has nothing to do with funding. Hulu said they’re ready to go. > In particular, MacFarlane blames himself for the delay, saying, "I'm the problem. It's [a matter of] when I can make that my year, with all the other stuff we have in the works." Once he can make himself available, though, he'll be able to "hit the ground running."

I think he should put all his focus on dungeon crawler carl as his main priority. That’s a powder keg waiting to blow, with the right execution

Ted 3, but it’s a prequel with the tv cast. Or better yet, it’s a remake of Ted 1 with the tv cast. Basically any Ted content with the tv cast, and you have gold.

Or retconning the previous two films as films within the lore of the *Ted* television series: since the series established Ted to be a former Hollywood actor, one could say the films were biopics Ted would eventually star in.
1
shadespectrum 9 hr ago +1
Yeah I saw someone else say they could explain it as Ted 1 and 2 being biopics about Ted in universe, with a funny about joke about John insisting that Marky Mark played him in the movies.

7
BirdFlu05 17 hr ago +4
The thing with Seth Macfarlane projects is if he's not 100% passionate about it and fully involved they suck. So if putting off the Orville season 4 while he puts all his effort into another great season of Ted is the way he wants to go, then im all for it.
4
codemen95 15 hr ago +3
If they do season 3, i hope they do a sledgehammer so john can be back in high school for more teenage hijinks. For those who don't know sledgehammer. The first season ended with the city getting blown up by a nuclear bomb because the showrunner thought they weren't getting a second season. So when they learn they got renewed, the second season began saying that the events happened 5 years before season 1

>“I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. How about a new season of The Orville first.

It’s amazing to me that this whole “Ted” thing never died off. Who is so into “Ted” that they keep making new shows and contemplating movies?

I’m guessing you haven’t watched the TV show. It’s excellent.

Is there already a Ted movie?

Seth should have more than enough money to finance it himself and there's no way the vfx for doing Ted cost that much. The rest of the show looks c**** and basic.

I’d rather watch a Seth MacFarlane-produced Scrooge McDuck movie than another lazy iteration of a Boston-accented teddy bear who sounds like Brian. Misread this at first and got excited.

I got like 3000 saved up he can have, all I ask in return is a ted stuffed animal

I don't understand what's so expensive about Ted. These streamers pump millions into shows no one watches but then won't fork out the dough to make a show people actually watch?

Ted is the best lice action thing Seth has ever made by far. We need more Ted. Hey what if we could use any Orville $$$ sitting around for more.Ted?

With the success of the show I feel like it’s clear that the weakest part of the movies was always Wahlberg. The movies were fine comedies but didn’t really feel that smart or clever. It felt juvenile and stunted. The show, though, felt like it was trying - and that’s reflected with it being the best regarded entry in the franchise. I think everyone’s cool with more Ted stuff, just maybe leave Marky Mark to make more bald jokes in movies by Mel Gibson.

I was skeptical of the show too but it's actually pretty great.

Honestly the show is MILES better than the movies. Very worth a watch. Even if you don't like the movies (which I don't).

Ted is a decent show, but let’s not overrate it too much. A lot of the scenes don’t even make sense, and the ones that do end with an out of place joke from Ted. Example: The family is talking about TV. In the final seconds Ted will say, “Hey Johnny, you think the guy who wrote the play The Nutcracker liked to m********* a lot?” And then they’ll cut to the next scene.

I didn't find Ted any bit funny unfortunately. Orville I thought was good but Ted is like specially crafted to perfectly avoid anything I think of as humor.

I liked Orville when it was like a part of Star Trek. Then it just turned into a show that was too serious for me. I liked stuff like Bortus using the holodeck for his p*** addiction. Or the tension of captaining a space ship with your ex.
