Shane Black ('The Nice Guys', 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang') To Write & Possibly Direct Adaptation of ‘The Executioner’ Books for Sony - The series follows a sniper turned one-man-army fighting against the Mafia, the KGB, terrorists and cyber-criminals.
I’m still upset people didn’t go and support this in theaters. Instant classic.

He specifically said in 2016 that if there was a Nice Guys sequel, it wouldn't be called The Nice Guys 2, it would be something like The Nicer Guys. He also said he had an idea for a spin-off called The Nice Gals with Holly and her stupid friend Jessica.
Ten years and nothing so far.

I love Parker, I love Shane Black, I like Stanfield in Knives Out and Atlanta but I can't stomach Wahlberg. Boogie Nights, Other Guys I have to admit he's right for those roles, but can't separate the art from the artist when it comes to new stuff...

Other guys, I heart Huckabees, Departed, boogie nights....
But Wahlberg as military badass is silly. So many times he's been cast and been...okay...but casting almost anyone else would be better. Shooter and Lone Survivor come to mind.
Plenty of others, like Parker, he's just so miscast that it breaks the whole thing

I've played enough videogames to feel like excellent gameplay can overcome shitty graphics.
But shitty gameplay can't make up for exceptional visuals.
The movie may not have looked great. But the lead is the anchor of that story and he was shit.
1
MaxProwesMar 25, 2026

But Marky Mark wasn't shit in it, maybe you just hate the guy, but he played more or less what he was supposed to play. Young Mel Gibson wouldn't have turned exactly the same movie into a diamond.
1
Gentleman_VillainMar 25, 2026

It is my opinion he was absolutely shit in it. Parker needs to be someone who is likable enough that when he does shitty things, you still like him. This version was just an a****** and even at those times when you're supposed to identify/see where he's coming from, he's still unlikable as hell.

He has one brilliant script about every 10 years and a mixed bag the rest of the time sole exception was from 1987 to 1991 he had 2 great scripts and one solid concept of a story that someone wrote the Lethal Weapon 2 script from. Then it is 1996 The Long Kiss Goodnight was solid, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 2005 several rough script doctoring jobs, Iron Man 3 which I didn't mind but has mostly was mixed despite the box office followed by Nice Guys 2016, then two as you said disappointing efforts. Which means he is due for his once per decade brilliant script.

TLDR: suburban dad was acting too big for his britches and wanted to play Batman, and picked the wrong guy to play that game with. Ritchson served him proper justice and police are letting it be squashed there among men - which I applaud.
How Hollywood reacts though is a different story.
