Still fondly remember Land of the Lost. And didn't he do the show where Bob Denver plays a janitor who gets blasted into space on a rocket by hitting the launch button instead of lunch?

I used to teach mask making to a group of adults with traumatic brain injuries. One of them made a Sleestak mask.

Sleestaks were the scariest thing to my six year old self.

In Boston? I made one of those... (masks, not Sleestaks!)

I didn't continue to have nightmares about the Sleestak, but I certainly did as a kid. I was intensely fascinated by the intelligent one who could talk, who introduced me to the concept of evolution when I was in first grade. I actually asked my teacher about it.

true story: the budget for land of the lost was so tight, they only had 3 sleestak costumes.

Oh man, I've had this vague memory for many years of seeing the "launch, not lunch" bit on TV as a little kid but not having any context for it. I think I thought at the time that it was just a really weird episode of Gilligan's Island. It didn't help my confusion that Denver's co-star looked vaguely like The Skipper.

Yes, ["Far Out Space Nuts"](https://youtu.be/L1dgb3lfzpo?si=L8Vt8rgqI1WriP60). Land of the Lost was a formative memory for me.

Sigmund the Sea Monster, The Banana Splits (a Hanna Barbera show, but the Kroffts designed the characters and sets) and Land of the Lost were my companions on Saturdays. I had The Banana Splits album. RIP Sid and Marty (2023). ❤ [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WknzOHXtsco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WknzOHXtsco)

In about 1976, I went to Atlanta to the world of Sid and Marty Krofft with my mother and grandmother. We rode what was allegedly the world‘s longest escalator. I still have an ashtray as a souvenir.

The guy was a huge influence on a lot of people. Few lived as full of life as he did and did it until the very end. He will be missed.

First time I ever heard the opening tune to this show was from an amazing album back in the day. It was a collection of artists performing a bunch of songs from cartoons. One of my fondest memories. "H.R. Pufnstuf, who's your friend when things get rough. H.R. Pufnstuf, he can never do a little 'cause he can't do enough." I am so happy reading these comments and seeing that I was not the only one who found Sid and Marty Krofft's work to be pure unadulterated nightmare fuel.

My earliest memory is a nightmare where H.R. Puffnstuff chased me around my house with a knife. Needless to say I feel a little conflicted right now.

One of the first and boldest pioneers in mass-market kids media. Without him, we'd still probably be stuck with.... *variety shows* *shudder*

My mother used to plop my in front of the TV to watch H.R. Puffinstuff. Later, as an adult, I tried to watch the show. I almost died of cringe.
