I always wanted to relive the 70s, just not like this.

Imagine if you were driving one of those massive 70s cars. [This was considered a small car](https://youtu.be/tfKHBB4vt4c?si=Slyq3q8xmPafzNUg&t=8) though I wouldn't mind having some rich Corinthian Leather instead of the c**** interior I've got now.

> Imagine if you were driving one of those massive 70s cars You mean like one of those massive 2020s masculine gender affirmation trucks? Betcha they're having real fun right now.

Good thing they got those affordable Chinese EVs banned...

21.75 gallons cost me almost $80 😭😭

If the war continues, that’ll look c**** compared to prices we’ll see in a few weeks.

Got my eye on an electric bike. I only live 4 miles from my job. Save the truck for longer distances.

Kolby_Jack33 Mar 23, 2026 +3
You should probably consider doing that even if Trump and Khameini Jr fall in love and get married.

bellaco1994 Mar 23, 2026 +2
I plan to. I just moved to this small old industrial town, and it's about as walkable as it gets in the US. In a 15 minute walk I can be at the grocery store, hardware, dry cleaner and a bunch of other small businesses. So I plan to take advantage of it with an electric bike and a basket.

You are living my dream, you b******. Happy for you.

Jillredhanded Mar 22, 2026 +1
Yep. I bet the '72 Buick Electra 225 I drove back then got better mileage.

In Slovenia you were more likely driving something like a [Zastava 750](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zastava_750) 🚗

Omg it is PRECIOUS! 😭 I want 12 of them.

Ah, a Slovenian Trabbi

Blame the declining value of the dollar. You got more for your money in the 70s. Although tech and other things like safety have provided more value for less money, its still not always a 1-to-1 replacement of what we had.

M_M_X_X_V Mar 23, 2026 +1
I mean in the UK, where I live, 70's cars were tiny and got even smaller after the fuel crisis.

HoosierRed Mar 22, 2026 +1
Well people will start acting more local again like those times.

WilyWondr Mar 22, 2026 +145
50 liters a day doesn't seem to be too restrictive
145
HerbsAndSpices11 Mar 22, 2026 +113
I think this would be preemptive to prevent a run on gas. It's pretty easy to make a fake shortage like toilet paper back during covid.

FlowBull Mar 22, 2026 +33
It's to prevent gas tourists from other countries to come across the border, filling up gas tanks and gas cans while risking that locals can't buy it in the future.
33
MotanulScotishFold Mar 22, 2026 +17
Indeed, it's like a full tank to me and It's enough for entire month.

But 200 for farmers can be an issue.
2
TimeIntern957 Mar 23, 2026 +1
The thing we had elections on Sunday so the goverment was postponing the price increase until after the elections (the price of gas is regulated here). The farmers knew that price will go up and since it's spring, they have the largest need for fuel now for their machinery, so they started hoarding diesel and emptied many gas stations.

Maybe for a personal vehicle

About time countries implement some sweeping work from home rules again..

TheoremaEgregium Mar 22, 2026 +23
The opposite will happen. You see, the economic outlook is stressful, and employees working from is hard to bear for management in the best of times, so they need to get some worries off their minds or they will burn out completely. Or something like that.
23
sports2012 Mar 22, 2026 +5
Or they'll just use it as a silent layoff due to the pending recession

TheGreatGamer1389 Mar 22, 2026 +27
This coming to the US....again.
27
Da_Spooky_Ghost Mar 22, 2026 +34
Nearly all gasoline used in the USA is produced here, Americans will however get to pay a lot more for it. So the oil executives will win bigly and be able to buy more yachts! My household has 2 EV’s, I just wish I bought solar panels last year.
34
new_account_wh0_dis Mar 23, 2026 +1
Yeah without controls if the EU will pay x amount then that's wat well be charging here minus shipping. Between this and the data centers moving in near me now seems like a great time to invest in solar lol
1
DokeyOakey Mar 22, 2026 +24
Enjoy it Americunts; you did this to yourselves.
24
DaedalusRaistlin Mar 22, 2026 +21
They did it to the world, we're all feeling the cost of it

I voted for Harris.

Remember the odd/even gas lines of the 70's 80's and 90's? Thanks Trump and corrupt Congress for making our lives so much better (s).
7
PurpleSailor Mar 23, 2026 +2
Dad used about three quarters of a tank on his daily commute and we had two cars, one with an even and the other an odd plate. Every single Tuesday through Saturday us three kids and Mom took one of the cars to the gas station to get it filled up. Sometimes we would be sitting in line for up to three hours just to get the tank filled so Dad could go to work the next day. This nonsense went on for like half a year, not at all fun.
2
NLtbal Mar 23, 2026 +3
No need to limit if the pumps are dry.
3
beastwood9498 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Slovenia’s like, What’d we do? How’d we get into this?

It's Melanias husband's fault.

Not really? The government of Slovenia is center left and pretty progressive on foreign affairs, e.g. they have called Gaza a genocide and condemned the Iran strikes. Maybe you're thinking of Slovakia?
3
Tall-Poem-6808 Mar 23, 2026 +2
First, it's a purely fictional crisis that Petrol engineered (for now, at least). Their tanks are full to the brim. Two, I went to fill up this morning, the pump stopped at 28L. When I went to pay, the attendant just said "yeah, just pump again if you need more". so technically I could have got 2 or 3 times that.
2
BrotherKaramazov Mar 24, 2026 +2
Yup, same happened to me, the employees don't give a shit about this crisis/feud, whatever.
2
DeathNick Mar 23, 2026 +2
I'd like to say that the restrictions are lifted and pumps have gas again. They only stopped supplying to gas stations since Tuesday last week and started supplying on sunday evening on election day again. No one truly knows what was going on, but it really smells like a conspiracy against the government that petrol doesn't like due to fixed gas pricing
2
pppjurac Mar 22, 2026 +6
They have about 0.50€ / l lower price than us 100km to north. So entire 50l tank of diesel is 25€ cheaper. But obviously people think they will die and everything will collapse if once per month they more for price for two pizzas and a beer. While same medium good car costs (insurance, maintenance, depreciation but sans fuel) about 250-400€ per month :/ Idiotism.
6
knight666 Mar 22, 2026 +10
Do you believe the trucks that drive the frozen pizzas and beer to supermarkets run on rainbows and sunshine
10
pppjurac Mar 23, 2026 +1
What do you I think I am , an American? As I read there is no practical daily limit for small businesses (200l/day per vehicle) and large ones (like whatever we use of common fuel types in rolling mill) buy directly from distributors not on pumps. Perhaps you should read what press statement says and not roll in with comment for karma?
1
blitzzardpls Mar 22, 2026 +8
The lower prices were probably because of the elections held today, they will probably rise tomorrow or on Tuesday
8
crazyyoco Mar 22, 2026 +7
We regulate oil prices. The prices will rise on tuesday tho.

Frosty_Ingenuity5070 Mar 24, 2026 +1
This is why my wife now drives my Mazda6. It is the turbo version, so of course fuel economy is like 25-30mpg on highway; but it sure beats paying over 5 dollars a gallon for diesel. I also WFH so that helps.

Perfect time to get an EV!

Russia has oil, right? Soon it will be time for Europe to start "talking" to Russia again.

TraditionalGap1 Mar 22, 2026 +19
Not that Europe cares particularly for what Slovenia or Hungary might want, particularly with the upcoming election
