The Cuban regime is still in power after all these years of economic misery. To say nothing of North Korea...

Europe and Asia aren't participating in the sanctions against Cuba, in fact they are actively opposing them. But what Listnook thinks Iran can do - holding global trade hostage under terrorist threats - will only exacerbate their misery.

I think none of them is considered terrorist by the US+Europe though. The pressure might be higher for the IRGC, but clearly it's not currently enough to change anything.

And how's that working out for them? Pretty decent standard of living?

Iran is one of those countries where the government can absorb an unbelievable amount of economic pain before changing course, but ordinary people end up carrying the cost.
Even before this, inflation was already brutal and the rial was collapsing. A prolonged conflict or blockade would probably hollow out what remains of the middle class entirely. The leadership frames it as resistance and national pride while regular people deal with food prices doubling and basic goods becoming unaffordable.

religious ties help them in this case too. Remember that to survive, The regime tied its existence to religion, so:
-whatever supreme leader says, is word of god, and god can never be wrong, right? And if he says we will endure this, they will try it.
-Any hardship is a trial from God that people must endure, whether they like it or not.
-Anyone who stands against them is defying God himself (thus you see them kill and execute protesters like its nothing)
-islam is destined to win. I'm not even kidding that's their motto. So expecting them to give up while they think whatever happens they are the winners? Good luck.
Anyway, as someone living in Iran, i like to make something clear: the people in power, and the ones who support them and have all the guns, will never surrender because of economical hardships. Leaders have their families living in the west, and the minorities who support them believe this is a trial from God and Recite some stories about how prophets or imams endured worst.
This blockade without the goal being supporting another uprising is futile. Expecting IRGC to put down weapons because they are not being funded while all their care about is resistance until death is dumb. They get weaker, sure, but not enough to give up.

They fought an 8 Year American supported War with Iraq. Are you f****** kidding me?
Trump is practically crying "Uncle" after 74 days with only a 50% price increase so far at the pumps. Iran retains their Munitions, the US suffers from increasing Market pressure, and US Midterms are months away. Iran may not win; but it ain't losing either.

Iran needlessly prolonged a war they could have settled with Iraq after a year for 7 years and gained nothing but suffering. And while the US helped to ease Iraq's economic situation a little and gave military advise later, it was Iran that received billions worth of military aid covertly, which prevented a swift Iraqi victory. And look where they are now after 40+ years of the regime: Piss poor, near bankruptcy. If that's not what losing looks like, idk.

It's a game of chicken. The US will win (Yeah Team America F*** Yeah) because the bigger chicken bank account usually wins and we all will suffer these fools for it.
I live 30 miles from Mexico in rural AZ. All my planned health care is in another country. Tests Iran'$ ability? Ok, whatever.
