Theres a female basketball player near us born with neither reproductive organs properly formed. Doctors told the parents to choose. A male with no p**** that had to sit to piss or a female that isnt formed exactly like other females. They chose female. She's never lived a day anything but female, however she has been labeled a Trans athlete and some religious colleges have refused to play her team or raise a storm of hate. Seems like such a petty war to wage.

[I thought this post was informative.](https://www.listnook.com/r/biology/s/1hhdhOZj9l) And when the anti trans stuff was raging in Maine, someone said “know how many trans athletes there are in Maine schools? Two.” And at the end of the day, all this fuss is over children playing games. So silly.

Games that most of these people will never watch or participate in.
116
FalstaffsGhost Apr 2, 2026 +86
Games that these people actively mock. Go and look and the same people who scream about “protecting girls sports” are the same people who make fun of the WNBA or the women’s national soccer team

They only care about women’s/girl’s sports if they think they can score political points

Just like how they co-opted "my body my choice" as soon as they were faced with the horror of... having to wear a mask in certain public spaces for the benefit of others.

> 75,000 high school kids participating in high school sports in Utah. 4 transgender kids playing high school sports in Utah. 1 transgender student playing girls sports. 86% of trans youth reporting suicidality. 56% of trans youth having attempted suicide. > Four kids and only one of them playing girls sports. That’s what all of this is about. Four kids who aren’t dominating or winning trophies or taking scholarships. **Four kids who are just trying to find some friends and feel like they are a part of something. Four kids trying to get through each day.** [The Govenor of Utah, explaining why he veto'd the trans sport ban](https://governor.utah.gov/press/gov-cox-why-im-vetoing-hb11/)

How do they know it's 4 kids? I've always wondered this. It's not like it's reportable.

I don't know in this case, but I know my state has an school athletics association that keeps demographic data.

I wonder if they track that though.

GunnieGraves Apr 2, 2026 +15
My favorite tidbit is that even if Lea Thomas wasn’t allowed to compete, Riley Gaines would have come in fourth, not fifth. Built a whole personality around “losing” to a trans athlete while glossing over the fact that she also lost to several cisgender athletes also. She wasn’t unfairly matched. She just sucks.
15
Hieshyn Apr 2, 2026 +19
No, they would have taken 5th. Lea and Riley tied with the exact same time. So Riley wouldn't have placed any better than she did. That's why her whole grift is extraordinarily stupid. She wasn't good enough and Lea Thomas had nothing to do with it at all.

Right, so this argument is inherently just advocating transphobia at the end of the day. You can tell me you're not defending transphobes, but you're literally just defending transphobes. Ultimately, you're arguing in bad faith. "We" aren't losing because "we" are focusing on trans people. It's not an option to ignore trans people. You're not on this "we" - you're just advocating transphobia with extra steps. And it's so f****** daft to do it. You understand most of these trans issues aren't even trans issues right? This sports issue, the bathroom issue, etc, they're not about trans people. They're **all** people who don't present conveniently traditional. It's obscenity laws with extra steps. Not fem enough? Obviously you're a man. It doesn't matter that you're a ciswoman. Edit: Not gonna argue with someone who hides their comment history while posting anti-trans support. Edit2: Interesting decision for someone to talk shit about me blocking someone... and then immediately blocking me. Okay bro.
8
LookAtThatCryBaby Apr 2, 2026 -7
lol, ask questions but then block before they can respond. Whose’s arguing in bad faith now?
-7
tellafriend Apr 2, 2026 +11
The thing is, you give an inch they take a mile. They *want* us to give up seemingly smaller rights, because that's what leads to taking away bigger rights. You can't count on things going back to normal when society shifts whats normal.
11
OtherUserCharges Apr 2, 2026 -6
You focus on doing the most you can with what little you have. Take Triage, in a major event you could save one severely injured person if you spend all your resources, but you lose several people because of it. Every second we argue over a thing that by advocates own admission effect an incredibly small group of people is time that we don’t spend trying to do more good for that community. Losing a battle doesn’t mean losing the battle war, but you will lose the war if you don’t know when to move on from a losing battle and keep feeding it more troops. We can pivot from sports and we always have the ability to come back to it during less fascist times.

Hazel-Cakes Apr 2, 2026 +6
collaborator after they get rid of trans americans in sports it’s taking their licenses and bathroom access and their medical care, and you’ll be arguing to cede that too

ceding rights of a class you don’t belong to isn’t being on their side idk what you mean about “learn civil rights and gay movements…” we already had those movements. trans people have had rights for decades and they’re being taken away. i feel like you have quite a bit to learn about queer struggles and queer liberation. and yes, arguing in favor to give up rights is collaborating. it’s not an attack on you…it’s recognizing that you’re helping those who are attacking trans children. and saying i have “dumb opinions,” ….. just like, come on man. this is real life. it’s terrifying to be a trans american right now and be a “discussion topic,” you need to chill a bit or remove yourself if you’re going to start name calling over whatever
6
OtherUserCharges Apr 3, 2026 -3
You can’t even quote me right… Here is how you learn from the gay rights activists. Notice they wanted marriage equality, but settled for civil unions until that became socially acceptable and then they got gay marriage? They didn’t die on the hill of marriage equality, they pivoted to something that society would accept and then once it became normal they got what they wanted cause people saw it’s not a big deal. They would have died on the marriage hill and got nothing. Learn to pivot. You know even the civil rights moment made sacrifices and calculated decisions. Do you know who Claudette Colvin is? Rosa Parks wasn’t the first black woman who refused to move to the back of the bus. Civil Rights leaders chose not to make her into Rosa Parks because they thought her circumstances would be viewed poorly cause she was 15 and pregnant while unmarried. They understood PR was important and picking the wrong fight was worse than having no fight at all. You seem to have a lot more to learn than I do. Learn nuance, not everyone who isn’t 100% agreement is an enemy. This is why republicans are so strong, they accept imperfect allies rather than people like you who probably agrees with me 99% on issues but vilifies me for the 1% difference. This attitude is why we are losing.
-3
Hazel-Cakes Apr 3, 2026 +5
legit crazy you think you’re being “vilified,” jfc telling trans people to “settle,” is wild, and the answer is “no.” >*I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate….who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; … who constantly says: ‘I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action’; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a ‘more convenient season.’* -mlk

CasualCassie Apr 2, 2026 +11
You make that concession and they just move on to the next goalpost Okay sports are done, but "it's an infringement on our parental/religious/speech/*whatever excuse they can make* rights for trans people to use public restrooms" Okay restrooms are done, but "it's an infringement on our parental/religious/speech/*whatever excuse they can make* rights for trans people to get identification that reflects their identity" Okay ID's are done, but "it's an infringement on our parental/religious/speech/*whatever excuse they can make* rights for trans people to receive transitive care under Medicare"

Yea caring about trans people having access to gender affirming care, drivers licenses, and bathrooms is so lame, let’s fight about less than 100 people’s right to play meaningless sports.
0
Hazel-Cakes Apr 2, 2026 +5
it’s not meaningless, it’s the gateway
5
OtherUserCharges Apr 3, 2026 -3
Absolutely meaningless. There are so many real issues to fight about but you want us to die on this hill. By Activists own admission there is so few of these people effected. In triage you do what does the most good for the most people. If you have a team of doctors spending critical time saving the most injured near death person, but by doing so those doctors could not save 5 people with lesser injuries than they did a bad job. There is so much wasted breath and tons of bad publicity over this when there are much more important fights we need to be having for trans people.
-3
Hazel-Cakes Apr 3, 2026 +5
are you trans? where are you getting your info on what an “important fight,” is?
5
OtherUserCharges Apr 3, 2026 -1
Are you black? I assume your point is if you aren’t black you can’t have an opinion on the importance of the civil rights movement.
-1
Hazel-Cakes Apr 3, 2026 +5
no i’m not Black, and that’s why i would never speak down to a Black american about what their struggle is or what should be important to them when Black americans have full liberation and rights, and racists are held accountable, we all will be truly free. I support Black americans by keeping my mouth shut and supporting them when they speak up. Black queer disabled voices should be prioritized above all. so…are you trans? edit- blocked me, okay 🤷‍♀️
5
PennysWorthOfTea Apr 3, 2026 +3
Just to be clear, your argument can be summarized as "Let's compromise on how much \[insert demographic\] is included vs excluded because, well, actual fighting for human rights isn't polling well; honestly you have nobody to blame but yourselves"
3
OtherUserCharges Apr 3, 2026 +1
Nope. Poor comprehension skills. I’m not going to waiste anymore time arguing with people who can’t comprehend simple arguments. Don’t die on hill for something that only helps a few people when you can have arguments on other things to do with trans people that insanely unpopular with the people in the middle who you ultimately need to get what you want. I care about trans people’s access to gender affirming care and basic rights, I don’t get a damn 100 people on the US who don’t get to play high school sports. Learn about priorities, things you need to be a grown up and learning that you can’t win every battle so fight the ones that are most important.
1
Smee76 Apr 2, 2026 -4
Completely agree. In addition the primary people affected by this are cis girls who are playing with and against them. It's not surprising that people are focusing on their rights.

36
Prior_Coyote_4376 Apr 2, 2026 +17
My new rule about the trans athlete discussions is that I’m not having them until Republicans address why they fought to keep genital inspections in schools and how we can ever trust them with the Epstein Files again. That’s the real sexual predation threat to our children. Politics in America at this point is boiling down to “do we lock up trans people and immigrants?” or “do we lock up the Epstein class?” I personally think anyone guilty of insider trading should spend 30 years in Alligator Auschwitz. It’s just like the real mob, you break them up when you make life unlivable for the bottom-feeders until they flip, and then you climb up the ladder. The higher you go, the harsher the example.
17
CapnRaye Apr 2, 2026 +7
Yep. Anyone who is that obsessed with the genitals of others (to the point of demanding genital checks) is nothing but a pervert. Only perverts obsess to the point of salivating over what is or is not in other people's pants. Forcing them to have those in school is even worse.
7
ahkian Apr 2, 2026 +6
Genitals of children specifically. Which tracks for the Grand Old Pedophiles.
6
awkwardlyherdingcats Apr 2, 2026 +4
There are more republicans in the Epstein files than there are trans athletes in the US. If they actually cared about protecting kids those files would be a great place to start.

TheGreatLuck Apr 2, 2026 +1
You don't even really need to do that to them. Their personality and entire livelihood are tied to their monetary gains. Take away that for any one of us who are normal people it sucks yeah sure but you still are you and you're still going to power through. Them. No. That's it for them. They baked everything they've ever known on their monetary value. Without it they believe they are nothing. It's just a matter of time before they defenestrate themselves.

13
irespondwithmyface Apr 2, 2026 +17
Reminds me, I'm suing the NBA because LeBron James has a clear genetic advantage over my 5'11" frame. I should be a millionaire playing basketball but "i'M nOt AtHlEtIc" and "tAlL eNoUgH." It's not fair. It's time we brought fairness back to sports! We must break the NBA up into equal categories of height, weight, muscle mass, respiration levels, metabolic levels, and so on. Also I'm suing the IOC and Michael Phelps. Where are my gold medals? Oh, because he was born with larger lung capacity and a freakish metabolic rate, that's okay? NOT FAIR.
17
transient_eternity Apr 2, 2026 +3
I mean it is weird how a lot of sports aren't broken up by height/weight differences. It results in a race to the top of genetic freaks and imo sports become a lot less interesting when it's not something I could theoretically do (ignoring the obvious immense effort involved).
3
Harmcharm7777 Apr 2, 2026 +3
But your second sentence could be applied to any measurable bodily advantage: muscle mass, respiration levels, metabolic rate, etc. If all sports are broken up by height/weight, they would still be a “race to the top of genetic freaks,” just further divided into arbitrary groups based on height/weight. Michael Phelps is helped by his height (or at least not hurt by it) but his lung capacity and metabolism are so freakish that he could be shorter and still dominate.
3
transient_eternity Apr 2, 2026 +2
Of course there'd still be genetic freaks. But it wouldn't be so ridiculously skewed. I guess my ultimate criticism is I just find sports gross when played at the highest levels because it always turns into that. Commodifying genetic l****** winners will never not be icky, among all the other sketchy things that happen when that much money is on the line.
2
Hazel-Cakes Apr 3, 2026 +4
i support the energy but it’s important to bring up that many meta studies have proven that trans athletes have no inherent advantage over their cis peers many elite athletes are elite because of genetic advantages, so it’s a good argument in showing that athletics isn’t about the “fairness,” that transphobes continually cry about, but i just like to being up the former incase someone thinks it’s giving justification to the idea that trans people are somehow more superior at sports than cis people (i hope that makes sense)

DecembersDragons Apr 2, 2026 +7
Dude that's Minnesota's issue. Or even better the issue for the sports league to figure out. Federal government shouldn't be interfering one way or the other.  You know what is the federal government's issue? Child sex abuse trafficking. For example as done by Epstein. How's that going Bondi?

[Conservatism](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conservatism) \-- by definition -- is "a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, **stressing the importance of established hierarchies and institutions** (such as religion, the family, and **class structure**), and preferring gradual development to abrupt change". The *sole* value of conservatism is respect for and obedience to \[one's perception of\] traditionally established hierarchy, and hierarchy dictates that those on top (in-groups) are rightfully idolized and receive privileges, credibility, and resources, while those on the bottom (out-groups) are demonized/dehumanized and/or bound by restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources. To them, the second-greatest injustice imaginable is for those \[they perceive to be\] on top \[of social hierarchy\] to be bound by the restrictions, scrutiny, and lack of resources reserved for those on the bottom. The first greatest injustice is for those on the bottom to have access to the rights, credibility, and resources reserved for those on top. Conservatives absolutely need an underclass \[for society\] to demonize and dehumanize in order to maintain \[their\] hierarchy, and every single one of their policies and rhetoric work to do exactly that. Every right-wing accusation is a confession -- *every. single. one*; always! -- as it is never *the act itself* that upsets them, but rather, *the social standing* of the person doing the act, as said act is a privilege meant for those on top of \[their perceived\] hierarchy (See also: pedophilia - Trump, Epstein, Catholic church versus LGBTQ+, drag queens; protesting - Jan. 6th versus No Kings) "Know your place" is their mantra. That’s certainly descriptive of intramural sports. One can still support or balance the principle of inclusion, but your appraisal is less apt for interscholastic athletics. High schools cut students to fill only a small, finite number of roster spots on most teams — in which there’s no guarantee of playing time even for students who made the roster. They are also very competitive, which includes inviting only the best individuals athletes or teams to continue playing at tournaments/events throughout the season.
