Regardless of one’s view on assisted suicide, why is the State Department even butting in on this? I thought she might’ve been a US citizen that went to Spain to euthanize herself, but no. It’s an internal matter to Spain.
Itd be like the Spanish embassy chiming in an official manner about I dunno, US sentencing guidelines for drug possession. I.e., none of their business.

And the determining factor was that she lived in chronic, intense, uncurable pain and was unable to live without a caretaker.
She's not been allowed to undergo the procedure "because she was sad" or any shit like that. She's been allowed to because she was in constant medical suffering, she was unable to do anything more complex than playing Minesweeper and she didn't want to spend 60+ years like that.

I looked into a complex coronary treatment I underwent in my country, which was very successful and without delays, and it cost the public coffers around €55,000-€60,000. It cost me nothing, ZERO, all-inclusive, including diagnostic tests, medications, and pre- and post-operative tests and treatments. The same procedure in the US would have cost close to $400,000, of which I would have had to pay, even with one of the best insurance plans, around €40,000-€45,000. Furthermore, the minimally invasive technique they used—in the US they would have cut me open like a pig to save a few dollars—I can confirm that I wouldn't have opted for that technique, which allowed me to return to normal life in just two months... Religion. Because Christianity considers suicide to be a sin, regardless of the suffering you are going through, and the current US regime has a large amount of religious zealots in it. They will do anything they can to force their point of view upon countries they believe need to be Christian, or return to embracing their pre-1900's Christian values.

Not surprising Krasnov would comment on this since Russia is connected.
Copying a comment i made in different sub regarding this a few days ago :
Looking at the lawyers which represented him [Father of the daughter who sought euthanasia]; they are ultra-conservative legal organization (Abogados Cristianos) in Spain with deep ties to the far-right party Vox. They fight against abortion, euthanasia and what they perceive as attacks on Christian values.
They are a legal litigation arm [share ideological alignment and tactical coordination with HazteOir/CitizenGO, all oppose abortion, euthanasia, LGBTQ+ rights] of broader movement led by Ignacio Arsuaga, the founder of HazteOir and CitizenGO.
CitizenGO had Alexey Komov on its board of trustees until 2022.
Komov is known as Putin's ambassador to the global religious right and has close ties to sanctioned Russian oligarchs, he has acted as bridge between Kremlin's "traditional values" agenda and Western ultra-conservative groups.
In 2021, a WikiLeaks dump of 17000 documents revealed that the movement HazteOir and CitizenGO received significant support from Russian billionaires.
sources:

This is quite confusing, and not entirely accurate. The VOX party has no connections with Russia or its current government; quite the opposite, in fact. VOX is aligned with MAGA, and with ultra-Christian circles. But that's not the point here. The point is that the US government is meddling where it shouldn't; it has too much going on in its own backyard.
0
Nepridiprav16Apr 1, 2026

From the second source in my comment, I'm not talking about Vox:
> Attempts by the US Christian right to export anti-reproductive health and abortion beliefs globally are well documented. But, unusually, CitizenGO incorporates an activist element of Russian Orthodox adherents with close ties to sanctioned oligarchs.
> The group was founded in 2013 by Ignacio Arsuaga, a far-right Madrid lawyer. He had previously established HazteOir to promote a hardline Christian agenda in Spain, but CitizenGO was built for a global crusade.
> Ignacio Arsuaga, the prresident of HazteOir, protests with a coffin at the entrance of the Popular Party summit to demand Pablo Casado the elimination of what they call ‘ideological laws of the left’ such us abortion law, gender violence law, historical memory law and LGBTQ+ rights
> The organisation’s key link to Russian oligarchs is Alexey Komov, who has served as a board member and is a leading campaigner against abortion and LGBTQ+ rights in Russia. He has made no secret of his aims, or where his support comes from.
> In a 2019 interview with the US-based conservative YouTuber Steve Turley, a well turned-out and self-assured Komov described his global ambitions: **“Russia should become the prime defender of faith of conservatives of the world.” He went on: “It took me several years, and I really got support of large foundations, sponsored by large entrepreneurs like Mr Yakunin and Mr Malofeev … You wouldn’t believe, we have hundreds of American conservative leaders coming in the Kremlin like dear guests.”**
> “Mr Malofeev” is Konstantin Malofeev, a banker and media baron who was sanctioned by the EU, US and Canada in 2014 for funding separatists in Ukraine and was recently indicted by the US for conspiring with an American citizen to transfer a $10m investment that Malofeev made in a US bank to a business associate in Greece and hiring the American to work on his TV network. Komov is regularly described as Malofeev’s right-hand man or aide, and has worked for the oligarch’s charity, the St Basil the Great Foundation. “Mr Yakunin” is Vladimir Yakunin, another sanctioned oligarch heavily involved in hardline Christian foundations.
Regarding Vox, while they aren't directly funded by Russia, they operate within shared international far-right infrastructure that includes Russian-backed organizations.

All Spain has to do is boot the Americans out and close the embassy. Problem solved.

In Spain we couldn't care less about what Trump says about us. It's much more important that he wants to start a third world war. We already know he isn't an ally.

Expel any diplomat involving themselves with domestic law or interferring with domestic politics unless they are representing one of their citizens. That should be the EU (and UK) stand.

This is nothing to do with euthanasia.
This is simply the case chosen by Trump's propagandists to attempt to make his deranged followers hate on Spain, in an imbecilic temper tantrum response to Spain declining to be used as an airstrip for Trump's illegal war.

This:
***García also blasted Washington for taking such interest in the death of a single Spaniard, when "thousands of uninsured people die in the United States each year and Trump supports and carries out human rights violations between Gaza and Iran."***

Imagine running a country where millions die from lack of health insurance and having the audacity to “investigate” another country’s own laws around assisted suicide, as if the US has any right or standing to “investigate”.

Trump and the states can mind their own business. Deciding a country with a right to die law is questionable is very much an American thing to do. How about you deal with temper tantrum dementia patient of president and not the legal events of another country.

I think he is in love with Sanchez. It’s not normal, he just started a war, one would think he has more important things to debate than the internal policy of a country he didn’t know existed two months before…

So this argument is pure smoke.

Noelia died with dignity after years of medical assessments and favorable court decisions. The system failed her after everything she had to go through. If she had died during the aggressions or the suicide attempts nobody would blink an eye, but she chose dignity and apparently that’s not acceptable. May she find peace. I hope those trying to make of this political propaganda don’t find that peace.

The USA cannot help itself and stay out of other country's affairs and sovereignty, yet they constantly claim they don't need anyone and want to center only on America.
Well... F***.
