Evil people act in a predictably rational fashion. Stupid people are unpredictable, so way more dangerous.

What about stupid and evil?
183
darkfrost47 2 days ago +81
If we replace "stupid" with "chaotic", then in d&d terms it equals a demon.
81
Lexi_Banner 2 days ago +13
Listen, demons couldn't be half as chaotic and wildly evil. They dream of being able to wild out the way Dumpsalot does on a daily.
13
RSwordsman 2 days ago +6
I'm struggling to think of how a DnD demon could act worse than he does. No care for others, no shame, not even self-preservation. Are we sure he literally isn't one?
6
Lexi_Banner 2 days ago +7
In the Good Omens novel, the demon character (Crowley) explains that humans punish themselves far more creatively and far worse than he ever could.

Not to mention the US has significantly more military and economic power and with it the potential to cause far more damage with a madman at the helm.

Remember, Trump is just a symptom. The ultra-wealthy and Republicans have spent literal decades doing their best to guarantee what is currently happening today. News is now propaganda and Americans live in alternate realities depending on what "news" they listen to, education has been underfunded and sabotaged, workers' rights and unions have been gutted, working people are kept poor, desperate, & dependent on employers to afford basic healthcare, gerrymandering and active voter suppression decide elections, and corporations & billionaires control almost the entirety of the US federal government along with swaths of state governments. Trump is the result of decades of corruption, intentional dumbing down of society, and the deliberate sabotage of democracy.

Yup, vance or whoever is likely to have the same direction as trump, but possibly with more competence.

Unfortunately, this will never change because the owners of the USA want it that way. They hold all the cards. They control every institution that matters.

Putin actually spent the last 26 years trying to cultivate an image of unpredictable and deliberately confusing behaviour, because espionage becomes much more difficult when no-one is ever sure if you’re lying or not. But Trump is demonstrating that hard work doesn’t always beat natural talent when it comes to this sort of thing.

Its due to the illusion that they're in on the game. Ie hes lying for them, not to them. "both Republican and Democratic voters provided explicit moral justification for politicians’ statements that were factually inaccurate, especially when they aligned with their personal politics." And importantly, the study found we all do it. Its just that right now we're kind of swamped by this one.

Yup. Trump is like Putin except stupid. It means he fails more easily, but also that he may just press the nuclear button out of the blue because his feelings got hurt by someone. Same reason why you'd feel safer with a gangster than you'd do with a monkey. The monkey may not attack you, but if he does, you won't see it coming and it will be brutal in ways no sane human would be.
6
lenzflare 2 days ago +6
It's simpler than that. The US is ten times more powerful than Russia, and Russia would have to get through all of Europe to get to Spain.
6

There’s nothing unpredictable when it comes to actions of the US under Trump administration. Literally everything is in benefit of Russia.

Because he is leading around the world like Putin's chub. Brushing up against everyone, being inappropriate and ruining the mood. I can't think of much over the last 12 months that the us has done that hasn't been a directed and unprecedented benefit to Russia and Russian interests.

The Spaniards, great people, beautiful country, they’re saying I’m the greatest treat to world peace. Think of that. A treat. Like a gift. Like a beautiful, delicious gift to the world. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it. They’ve got me ahead of Putin—way ahead. Not even close. They’re saying, “Trump brings peace, Trump brings strength, Trump brings… treats.” I don’t even know what that means exactly, but it sounds fantastic. Probably means I’m very nice, very generous. Maybe the best. And I’ll tell you, when Spain says something like that, you listen. They know history, they know leadership. They looked at everybody—everybody—and they said, “Nope, Trump is the one.” Incredible. So we’re leading in peace, we’re leading in treats, we’re leading in everything. And frankly, the world is a much safer place when I’m around. Everybody knows it—even the Spaniards.

Putin is calculated, Trump just throws dart at random things
25
Arkhaine_kupo 2 days ago +35
> Putin is calculated Nothing quite like losing the first Georgia invasion, losing the afghanistan invasion, barely winning the second georgian invasion, and starting a war against a neighbour that kills an entire generation of young men and drowns your central bank in long term payments that you couldnt pay back if you invented the cure for cancer and quantum computing on the same day. If that is the calculating guy, his ti-84 might be out of bateries... Putin's only long term success is bamboziling the germans into thinking they were redeemable (and well getting Trump elected). everything else has gone t*** up for them
35
SilveryDeath 2 days ago +30
> Nothing quite like losing the first Georgia invasion, losing the afghanistan invasion, barely winning the second georgian invasion Putin was elected on December 31st, 1999. So the Afghanistan invasion and first Georgia invasion stuff happened when he wasn't even in charge since that was all in the 80s or early 90s. Also, you're wrong about Georgia because: - South Ossetia (who Russia backed) beat Georgia in the First South Ossetia War in 1991-92. - The War in Abkhazia in 1992-93 who won by Abkhazian (who Russia backed). Abkhazia is still a de facto state today. - The Russo-Georgian War in 2008, lasted 5 days and Russia won and occupies Abkhazia and South Ossetia as a result. Look I hate Putin as much as the next guy, but at least get the facts straight.

> I can't think of much over the last 12 months that the us has done that hasn't been a directed and unprecedented benefit to Russia and Russian interests. Yes, Russia profits from the increase in oil revenue but overall they have lost a ton of influence in the region. What is an alliance with Russia worth, looking at what's happened? Zilch. I think for me this is one of the few times where I'm erring more on the side of him being a useful idiot than intentional agent.
18
EnoughPrimary6700 2 days ago +23
Too many "idiotic" coincidences? Kremlin praises US for good alignment? Sanctions lifted? If it's too good to be a coincidence, it probably isn't. (Edit: typo "coincidence")

It's also why I get so annoyed at people calling him an "agent". Like no, he's a f****** "asset" aka an easy to control idiot. "Agent" would actually imply he's calculating and smart and thinks several steps ahead without bragging about stuff that should stay hidden.
9

AbcLmn18 2 days ago +2
Yeah I still don't understand how the f*** did he fail to notice that *his entire army simply doesn't exist*. This was absolutely obvious to every 18yo boy in the country. And their parents. Like, seriously, it's enough to spend a few hours on your mandatory conscription eligibility medical exam, to see that everyone you deal with is a corrupt, lying, sadistic piece of shit who's only interested in taking bribes, stealing gasoline, and beating boys into submission. *Everybody knew this.* Except the president, somehow.
2
Sayakai 2 days ago +31
Putin is not quiet. Putin is literally fighting a war of conquest in Europe *and* arming up for the next one. It's because there's a nuclear power between Spain and Russia.
31
cytokine7 2 days ago +13
Quiet with his words, not actions. I thought this was implied, otherwise why would he be a threat to world peace in the first place?
13
Deuce_GM 2 days ago +13
I agree, Putin isn't quiet at all But let's be honest the real reason Spain is saying this is because they don't give a f*** about Ukraine But the second that oil prices are slightly touched then everyone is suddenly ready to fight back
13
letruf 2 days ago +9
I don't think Spain doesn't give a f*** about Ukraine or Putin, I think it's the way this question was asked. If you ask who is a bigger threat to **the world,** it's gotta be Trump because Putin only threatens Europe while Trump is totally unhinged atm and has a wider range. But if you ask who is a threat **to Europe**, 74% Spaniards say Putin and 51% - Trump. (source [https://www.politico.eu/article/poll-eu-countries-us-bigger-threat-than-china/](https://www.politico.eu/article/poll-eu-countries-us-bigger-threat-than-china/) you have to click on the little labels over the first poll to see the results for the US, Russia, and China)
9
Spoztoast 2 days ago +12
and he can only really threaten world peace indirectly like say trough Trump. Russia doesn't have the military capabilities to engage in several national wars they barely have enough to keep one front from collapsing. Outside of the nuclear option Russia isn't a global threat
12
Spork_the_dork 2 days ago +2
Yeah realistically by itself Russia isn't a threat to more than Europe at the moment. It isn't going to suddenly invade Kenya or some other country in a different continent. USA has already done that **twice** this year.

As a Spaniard, I would be surprised to find out we're the only ones who know this. To the point of asking everyone else "how could you possibly imagine Putin to be more dangerous to world peace than Trump?" it's like comparing a professional assassin to a monkey who lost most of his brain in a terrible accident and is right now hitting a very large jar of nitroglicerine with a hammer. If course once you remove the hammer and put the monkey back in his jail he's way less dangerous than a professional assassin, but right now, as we all wince every time the hammer hits the glass, the monkey is more dangerous.

Most of us Americans see it too. Many of us rally and protest, albeit not enough. Many try to make posts or plans online, but the various apps and sites take things down at the best of times. And because the continental region of the country is so massive, with the majority of people, let alone the vast majority of dissenters, being so spread apart, the very act of organizing and joining together is stunted and made Herculean to say the least. But yes, we do see it, and we want him and his sycophants long gone. Their removal won't fix everything, including the bridges this self-absorbed ass resembling all seven deadly sins has burned in the past almost-fifteen months, but one can hope we can do that much with the system we have left; the system this sack of excrement is trying to dismantle. One can hope enough of us dissenters will finally get up and do something if that fails, because there are too many people relying on our courts, et al., to do the bare minimum.

At this point all of Europe and every member of nato consider Trump a bigger threat to their own and world peace than Putin. Trumps ability to destabilise the current world order and diminish the US’ role in keeping some level of stability means that while Putin is a threat through his actions against Ukraine and likely beyond, Trump is a threat to the entire world.

Saw that coming. Putin does not have the firepower to attack Ukraine right next door like TRUMP can attack IRAN 6,000 miles away. Putin wishes he had that kind of firepower. Trump is definitely more dangerous. Trump can attack anywhere. Nobody can pull up to your coast with an air armada like the USA can with nuclear aircraft carriers.
3
Few_Advisor3536 2 days ago +3
Im not spanish and i agree. Everyone expects the russians to not play nice, however the US is imbedded in every western nation. Then you have this nutcase in charge that is incredibly volatile. Russia has been relativly contained with sanctions and everyones constantly keeping an eye on them (while we are currently in damage control with war in Ukraine). The shit thing is its not just affecting americans by voting this clown in, everyone else is suffering. First it was stock market crashes due to tarrifs, then the tarrifs, then its supply issues because the US isnt stable enough to know if defence orders will even get fulfilled (which is why europe has moved away from the US) and now its the fuel crisis caused by 2 criminals. Bonus mention. Australia post (our domestic postal service) for a couple months stopped shipping to the US because they wanted us to collects tariffs/taxes for them. Its back to normal now but it was a bunch of unnecessary fuckery.

To be clear, Putin has caused much more death and suffering than Trump so far. And he has violated the principle of territorial integrity, taking over land that rightfully belongs to Ukraine. But because his hands are tied in Ukraine, he doesn't have much chance to threaten peace elsewhere. On the contrary, Trump is randomly attacking countries here and there, which can indeed be arguably considered a larger threat to world peace.

The poll is not about who is more evil or who have gotten more people killed, it's about who is the bigger threat to world peace. Trump has threatened other NATO countries, and has a lot more powerful military than Putin, and also goes around causing conflicts in different countries. Putin is bogged down in the neighbouring country. So when it comes to who is the bigger threat to world peace, it's Trump. Not that hard to understand.
8
BlueDahlia123 2 days ago +27
Not necesarily. Russia *is* a threat, and it has definitely proven expansionist intentions, but that is something that was already known and other countries have taken some measures to curtail it for decades. America has the worlds largest economy, the largest military in terms of spending, and was not two years ago still considered an ally by most. Meanwhile, its large amount of soft power, while recently gutted, still makes other countries hesitate against it. But since Trump took office, they have been wildly unpredictable in *all* fields. They start a war one day without warning and demand it be ended the next, and other countries do not dare to say no. They announce universal tariffs for no reason and increase them in retaliation to any hint of rudeness. They pull back their humanitarian aid and threaten to pull back even more if someone else does it to them. They maintain and legalise entire internet markets around gambling on international political events, and do nothing when people with stakes on certain outcomes try to force them through pressure. Their president is untrustworthy, yet his social media is often the first place where their policy is made public. No country had preparations for this. There is no organised pushback. They keep getting everything they want and their demands only keep escalating.

Does Russia not threaten to annihilate more with nuclear warfare on a regular basis?

Successful-Purple-54 2 days ago +4
I’d believe the majority of the world would put trump near the top of threats to the planet. C*** started a war to delay his pedo details coming out.

The man that launches kamikaze drones into Ukrainian apartment buildings is the better person? Propaganda much?

Rukytroll 2 days ago +9
The question was who is a biggest threat not who is a better person... Putin is evil but trump is like a monkey with a gun.
9
not_just_putin 2 days ago +6
Yeah, russians only want to capture all of Europe, so no need to worry about that.

The difference between Putin and P(ed)OTUS is that the former was a spy and the latter probably can’t even spell spy.

Anyone who objectively looks at world history over the last 80 years could see that — but it's not new and it's not Trump, it's the US. If you go bar for bar, atrocity for atrocity, the US has done more to instigate conflicts and overthrow governments than every other country in the world put together.

US Conservatism is a plight on humanity! A cancer that needs a heavy dose of radiation and chemo therapy. Who is going to administer the cure? Certainly not feckless Americans.

Ofc he is. Putin is dangerous for sure but Trump is the president of the country with the highest military spending.
2
Enthios 2 days ago +2
That's because he is, he's potentially the greatest threat to world peace we've ever experienced. An idiot with the most powerful military in the world at his disposal who listens to what the world's more intelligent dictators tell him and is one of the most well-known sadists of all time.

>When respondents were asked which leaders most endanger global peace, 81% pointed to Trump, compared with 79.3% who cited Putin and 71.2% who named Netanyahu. The rest of the figures suggested by 40dB. rank further behind: Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei (62.9%); North Korea’s Kim Jong‑Un (62.25%); and, at a greater distance, the head of state of the other global superpower, China’s Xi Jinping, at 49.3%. Yeah that's totally fair. The thing with Trump and the US is that this is a sudden heel turn. We were the "good" guys. We held alliances together. People relied on the US dollar, our military might and our leadership. Putin, Jung-Un and Jinping have always been looked at as radicals by anyone paying attention. They were generally kept on the outskirts of any major alliance because they couldn't be trusted. Netanyahu has been kept in the loop but I think people understood how dangerous and unreliable he is. So those nations are the threats that we knew. Nations planned to stand against them. Trump has totally flipped the table and now everyone who relied on the US and trusted the US simply can't do that anymore. And unlike a depleted Russia or a small North Korea the US is actually capable of doing the crazy shit Trump says. When those other leaders make grandiose threats it's kind of like "ha okay you're trying to peacock and act tough." But with Trump he might be serious or he might be having a 2am Twitter shit posting session after watching FOX News. Even if Trump ended the Iran war today no one can trust the US until he's out of office. So world peace can't be achieved with such an unstable variable at the top. He talks about other leaders with such disrespect and talks down to anyone who doesn't kiss his ass. With Putin the world is able to function with Russia not having a seat at the table, but that won't be easy to do without the US. So world peace is more unachievable than ever.

Putin keeps to himself and is busy in the ukraine, where theve been working at their three day special military operation for over 1500 days. Trump wildly attacks difference places and has a more hateable personality, and is incompetent as a leader, plus much of the world already doesn’t have a high view of the american populace.
2
righteous_sword 2 days ago +2
Of course they do. They never got to taste Putin's invasion and destabilizations. Luckily for them he's so bogged down in Ukraine and sanctioned that he can't fund Catalonian separatists.
