Dave Filoni really said "Nah, Chopper wasn't bloodthirsty enough, I'm gonna make an even more violent droid"

I'm into it. The animation is sick as hell.

The criminal underworld stuff is solid but I'm way more interested in how they're gonna handle Maul's lightsaber choreography this time around. That double-bladed saber physics always gets me hyped - wondering if they'll keep the same rotation mechanics from Clone Wars or try something new with the weight distribution.

does anyone else get similar animation vibes as that recent ninja turtles movie?
im loving it so far, but i want to see what substance there is beyond the "stylish so far" set up.

Wait a second, I haven't watched this yet, but does this take place *after* the events of phantom menace or before? If it's after I am interested in seeing how they pull that off. I assume this series will explain everything, because last I saw Darth Maul he wasn't doing very well

Maul has been known to be alive and and doing mostly well during the clone wars. This was shown during the clone wars animated series

You’re about 14 years worth of content behind. This takes place in-between his appearances in clone wars and rebels (and solo but he’s just a cameo in there).
He’s been a major character in Star Wars content for over a decade now, and arguably one of the best. The phantom apprentice arc in the final season of clone wars is a flawless companion piece to revenge of the sith.

Before, it's going to more or less cover how he ends up as a gang leader in Solo.

He just shows up as the real leader of crimson dawn or the new shadow collective possibly in solo
Quira showing up in a future season isn’t unreasonable.

solo takes place about a decade after clone wars, this is just a few years after. so qira is still a teenager on corellia and wouldnt appear yet. but this show is renewed for s2 so for all we know there could be a time skip

After *The Phantom Menace* — George Lucas revealed Maul to be alive in the late 2000s over the television series he was working on at the time, *The Clone Wars*, and he then returned in the subsequent television series *Rebels*, and the film *Solo*, depicted in all three with new robotic legs. He’s honestly a pretty compelling character once he gets time to actually speak.
