20% of adult Americans are also illiterate. I'm almost certain that Venn diagram is a complete circle.

It’s up to 25%. America winning!!!

Nah, Lots of billionaires, people seeking power love him too. Look at how much their net worth has gone up. If everything falls apart, they have yachts and emergency bunkers.

Calling people dumb and illiterate doesn’t make you smart. Or right. Good luck in the midterms :)

Thanks for your opinion. You can go back to your Listnook p*** and gooning now. Have a lovely day.

No, the evidence of people being dumb and illiterate makes them dumb and illiterate
8
thejimbo56 Apr 1, 2026 +5
That’s true. It’s also true that all available evidence supports them being dumb and illiterate. Good luck with your crippling personality disorder 👍
5
5WattBulb Apr 1, 2026 +2
Unfortunately according TO the dumb and illiterate, it does. He is what a dumb person thinks a smart person is, what a poor person thinks a rich person is, what an illiterate person thinks a well read person is. The rest of us know what he really is. Its why he surrounds himself with people dumber than he is, so he looks like the smartest person in the room. Hes getting support from 22% and im pretty sure we can figure out what kind of people they are.

Quakes-JD Apr 1, 2026 +71
Now we know just what percentage of Americans are uneducated and addicted to Fox “News”
71
RandomlyJim Apr 1, 2026 +27
When George Bush had got us into two quagmires, blown a budget surplus, tanked the economy, and left the country worse than when he got there, I still remember the Fox News poll showing that 22% of Americans thought that George Bush did an excellent job and strongly approve of his time as president. 22% seems to be the floor.
27
lindendweller Apr 1, 2026 +8
We can't argue with the evidence, but it's still baffling that the floor is this high..
8
jpk195 Apr 1, 2026 +5
We knew that before. But we know it now, also.
5
baeb66 Apr 1, 2026 +48
The moron line is one in four. You're not going to get lower than that. Nixon before he resigned still had a 25% approval rating.
48
HumptyDumptruckFire Apr 1, 2026 +31
Exactly, 25% of the country has always been and sadly will likely always be complete write offs in the empathy and intelligence sectors.
31
AdAfraid9504 Apr 1, 2026 -3
They are in every country, iq test for voters thx
-3
GraveHugger Apr 1, 2026 +1
I'm horrified to say that I have actually started to lean more into this idea, but basing it on IQ is faulty. Maybe a general history test for voter registration just like any foreign born citizen might have during naturalization.

4
USSMarauder Apr 1, 2026 +4
In the fall of 2008, with the economy collapsing all around us, Bush II still had 27% approval
4
CrowLaneS41 Apr 1, 2026 +3
Nixon barely committed a crime by modern standards
3
GrallochThis Apr 1, 2026 +1
Well by volume I agree, but his crime quality was very high, as evidenced by pretty much his entire leadership team being tried for one or more things.
1
Static-Stair-58 Apr 1, 2026 +2
Then the lesson needs to be to figure out how to stop listening to them. To stop letting them have power. If 25% of this country is always going to be this way no matter what then 25% of the country needs to be either ignored or quarantined.
2
Feisty-Noise-5568 Apr 1, 2026 +28
For all our talk of American ideals and empathy, a significant chunk of humanity, not even just American, simply do not care about suffering if it does not personally affect them. Even for all the problems we face now, many people are still insulated from harm and enjoying their precious little lives regardless of anyone else's suffering. Hey, it was true before Trump and it will be true after. Unless things get SO bad everyone is starving or getting bombed, natch.
28
runningOut_380 Apr 1, 2026 +14
I fear it's worse. These people view empathy as a weakness.
14
nosayso Apr 1, 2026 +12
Not only that, but also they are fully willing to experience suffering as long as there's an "enemy" that's suffering more. They want to hurt trans people they've never met, even if it means higher gas prices.
12
SocratesSnow Apr 1, 2026 +11
These are the same people that supported Joseph McCarthy and Ron Cohn back in the 50s. They supported Nixon and didn’t think he did anything wrong. These are the people that supported Jim Crow laws,. They are abusers and arrogant people, and they’ve been around since the dawn of the country. Sadly, there’s a disease in this country and it’s been there since the beginning. That’s why we don’t have universal healthcare and we don’t help the American people economically. There’s a greed in the USA that cannot be satisfied.
11
MomsBored Apr 1, 2026 +6
You can’t rationalize with people who want to be free to hate and hurt anyone they see as other. The people who project all of their toxicity onto everyone around them. These are his people. He spoke to the fringe, the sick, the empty.
6
Luckypag Apr 1, 2026 +9
These are the culture warriors; tribe first, ride or die folks. They will back Trump no matter the situation.
9
Mydoglovescoffee Apr 1, 2026 +7
The lower 1/4 of functioning American adults has an IQ of 90, cannot read beyond middle school level, likely does not following news beyond possibly some Faux News headlines and just recalls Trump is the celebrity they love.
7
NB-Heathen Apr 1, 2026 +8
I live in a small Appalachian town and run a gas station. When prices started going up I’ve had sadly more than one person say “Look what that damn Biden caused. “ The saddest part is these people also live off many of the programs his administration has dismantled. Yet they still declare him the best president of their lifetime. It’s madness.
8
MadEyeMood989 Apr 1, 2026 +4
The 22% are the ones who’ll happily down a bowl of shit just because someone else will have to smell them.

They are scared traitors who only care about themselves… and are also racist.
15
HumptyDumptruckFire Apr 1, 2026 +7
I’m not even sure they care about themselves given this self-inflicted wound. They just care about others even less.
7
CrimsonZephyr Apr 1, 2026 +3
These people are ride or die. No matter what Trump does, they’ll back him. And I doubt the people abandoning Trumpism are that sincere either. Come election time, they’re lockstep because Democrats according to them are woke and gay.

3
griminald Apr 1, 2026 +3
There's a percentage of MAGA, usually about 30%, who just spot the Pro-Trump answer to each poll question and will pick that one. The average person's day to day life involves *very little* of the stuff we're constantly mad about. The MAGA are even *less involved*. All they know is that they're mad at the world, their lives are miserable, and it's someone else's fault.
3
have-u-met-teds-mom Apr 1, 2026 +1
I’m mad at the world and it is someone else’s fault. Am I becoming one of them?

The ones I know only watch local news and are happy with ice and the removal of immigrants. When presented with the negative effects of this administration, they don’t much care because they’re not personally affected.
7
kosmonautinVT Apr 1, 2026 +7
They wouldn't even realize they're negatively effected when it happens. Doubt they're millionaires benefitting from the tax cuts. They'll find ways to rationalize $4+ gallon gas. They have no awareness of various consumer protections that Trump has torn up or won't enforce.
7
Wingnutmcmoo Apr 1, 2026 +5
I've personally heard one say "it will go down they are working on it" when it comes to gas. So they are simply believing the lie.
5
BareNakedSole Apr 1, 2026 +2
Just look at the bell curve distribution of IQ and you can see why. There are millions of people in the world who are not very smart.

Those 22% probably have no idea what the Kennedy Center is, and they'll blame expensive gas on Democrats not allowing drilling in national parks. They're as demented as Trump himself

I once took a test to get a state job. Now, you have to sign up for this test, and the actual test practice packet is available online. I didn’t bother reviewing. Anyway I show up to the facility on test day and there are 128 other people taking this thing. I get seated at a table with like 6 other people and we get to chatting. Most everyone at the table told me that this is their second or even third time taking this test. And that it is REALLY hard. One woman told me if she fails this time, she has to wait an entire year before she can make another attempt. Anyway, the test gets handed out, with a scantron answer sheet. One of those fill in the ABCD or E bubble with pencil things. The test givers tell us we have 90 minutes to complete the test and to begin. This test… is like six job related stories. Each story being no more than five paragraphs, with three to five questions under them. I am done in less than twenty minutes, only taking that because I double checked everything. My 10 year old probably could have finished faster. I raise my hand and sit in silence the next 70 minutes. After what feels like a decade, the test givers start calling out names and I perk up waiting to be called for the next part of the testing (physical). They call out the first ten names. Then twenty, then fifty. Around seventy I tell the person next to me that I am afraid I must have messed something up since my name had yet to be called. He told me that “Nah, bro. The people being called are the ones who failed.” I was dumbfounded. Of the 128 people who took this test that a third grader could have passed, only 29 people passed. Two others failed the physical, and one was dismissed because they had gang tattoos. A bit of my naive faith in humanity died that day.

One of those 22% is my son-in-law. It’s pretty much cut me off from my grandchildren. it’s devastating. At first I thought that if I could keep my mouth shut and stay small- I try to outlast Trump so that wherever this presidency took us -at least we’d be facing it together and I would still be connected with my family. He’d already ended so many of my friendships I didn’t want to give him the power to break up my family too. It’s just heartbreaking and I don’t even know how we will ever be able to overcome it and reunite as a family.

Simple, they care about one thing deeply that trump supports (whatever that is) and don’t care about the other things and how it affects anyone else.
1
DumbWhore4 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I went to the conservative sublistnook the other day and this was one of the comments: > I don't think it will hurt most people. I'm pretty broke and would gladly pay $10 a gallon for gas. Higher prices should mean less people just driving to drive or being inefficient with trips. Less people on the road would be wonderful. >If you have a job where you're commuting far enough to work every day for gas prices to matter you can probably afford it.

huffgil11 Apr 1, 2026 +1
My parents are liberals who belong n to a country club full of conservatives. Last month my husband and I were at a dinner there with him and there was a man who said, without a trace of an irony, that no one said anything when Biden was president and gas prices were high. My husband, who had been doing a really good job of trying to ignore the dumb stuff this guy was saying, couldn’t let this one go and point blank asked him if he remembered the “I did that” stickers. The guy said those were just a joke and people didn’t really care, but now they’re straight up vilifying Trump and it’s not fair. I thought I was taking crazy pills. The mental gymnastics is insane.

Some people (voters) are so desperate to belong to a group that will include them and give them the perception of power that is absent in their own lives that they will vote against their own interests to be able to point fingers at the “outsiders” of their “in-group” (cult)
1
infinitynull Apr 1, 2026 +1
A part of his base is poor, under-educated, struggle with finding decent work, and can't afford to live. Even if things are demonstrably worse under Trump. Nothing meaningful has changed for those people. They still can't afford life, but he is hurting the people identifed as the ones causing their pain. In their mind, it's a vote well cast.

And unlike Biden, Trump waived the Jones Act for the next 60 days to get them back down. I know yar politics is more about cult vibes, but some of us actually read his executive orders and follow the news
