I remember walking out of the theatre as a kid thinking "This is a bad movie all right."
But strangely it's grown on me over the years. It has a certain cult movie charm to it. Raul Julia's last role. Van Damme on cocaine and his UN speech ("I am going to kick that sonuvabitch Bison's ass SO HARD!"). Kylie Minogue reminding us she can't act a lick Bryon Mann (who is a legitimate martial artist) as Ryu and Wes Studi as Sagat.
This is definitely a "So bad its good" film for me. What do you think?
Came her to also say that is is almost a Tuesday for me as well!

Definitely the most quotable line.

Van Damme got paid to go to Thailand, do coke and smash Kylie Minogue; best film shoot ever.

Double dragon is another one I consider so bad it’s good. If I watch one I must watch the other.I need a third film for a bad but strangely watchable 90s video game movie.

The goombahs in the elevator dancing - actually *swaying*, more like - to Lara's Theme had me laughing out loud.

Wow, never realized Double Dragon had Robert Patrick, Alyssa Milano, and Mark Dacascos. I need to give it a watch. 😂

Double Dragon is the reason why Street Fighter narrowly misses the dishonour of being the worst 1994 film based on a video game.

I saw it in the theater with some friends in high school, and we friggin loved it! One of the few video game adaptations I've liked. I love that they just went all in and made it a live-action Saturday morning cartoon. I still have Van Damme's UN speech memorized all these years later.

Van Damme was pretty deep into his cocaine addiction at that point, lots of dramas around the making of the film iirc

You should check out Tsui Hark's Knock Off. Van Damme is practically sweating cocaine here. It's also one of my favorite films.

This was such a weird film to pair him up with Rob Schneider playing a CIA agent

Anyone think Street Fighter (2026) will be any good?

If you haven’t, you REALLY need to listen to the podcast “How Did This Get Made?”.
They did an episode on Street Fighter and it broke down the movie really well.

I will never understand why people glaze the old Mortal Kombat movie, while shitting on Street Fighter. SF was so much better
