What scares me is the right wing media machine is extremely good at creating propaganda and highlighting issues that further their own agenda. Too many media owners fund Democratic party candidates.
Biden launched his 2020 campaign at a fundraiser by a Comcast executive, who he later awarded with an ambassadorship.
Comcast, along with AT&T, are two of the biggest corporations responsible for Donald Trump and enabling right-wing and insurrectionist propaganda that brought him to power, and made him not just a threat to the US but the world.
1
suprahelixApr 1, 2026
+1
Oh it’s not just the right. The left comes out to the woodwork to piss on every single accomplishment- making sure democrats can never build on successes. Everything has to be “crumbs” or “too little too late”. It was wild watching, during Biden’s term, the same people keep trying to come up with reasons why they wouldn’t vote for a democrat in 2024. First it was the eviction moratorium, then student loans, and finally they got Israel to stick.

Most of the average voting citizens will fail to learn or realize that it’s a whole lot easier to break shit than it is to fix it.
1
nosaysoApr 1, 2026
+1
It already happened twice in my lifetime.
Barack Obama specifically had an incredibly consequential first 2 years - turning around Bush's great recession and also passing landmark healthcare law.
2 years later Republicans blame Obama for the debt they created and the bad economy he inherited, using the massive pot of dark money the Supreme Court delivered them with the Citizens United decision they convince the American voters to re-elect the exact same people who literally just got done running the economy into the ground 2 years ago - they then proceeded to sabotage the rest of Obama's term.
Voters are incredibly f****** stupid, elections are overwhelmingly decided by "vibes" with no basis in fact or even history as recent as 2 years ago.
1
eggoedApr 1, 2026
+1
It’s also fun seeing people on here b**** about how both sides are the same. Like, yeah they’re not as different as you want because you keep f****** voting them out once they start fixing shit. We coulda had a center-left Supreme Court in the 2000s that would likely have had a very different conclusion on Citizens United etc. Or a center-left court in 2017 that would mean Roe v Wade would have been retained.
Sigh. Voters really are stupid, most of them.

Democrats went an entire decade without controlling congress. From 2000-2010 they controlled it for 2 years. From 2010-2020 they controlled it for 0 years. From 2020-present they controlled it for 2 years. Voters just love giving republicans control and then blaming democrats for not doing anything

Which is why the world needs to learn its lesson from this term and keep working on diversifying our trade with other nations and start working on defending ourselves. We can't trust that any sanity will return and remain long term for the USA.

There is no way to clean this mess in a way that would be popular.
Among the many problems arising from spending all of America's money on tax cuts for the rich and land wars in Asia, paid for by ludicrous amounts of debt, is that the Democrats were right: This means that money can never be available for what it is badly needed for. Things like saving Social Security, establishing universal healthcare, rescuing public education, the green transition, and real support for workers and the poor.
That debt has been contracted. It is accruing interest. It must be repaid.
So whoever wants to clean this mess has to somehow convince Americans that they have to take responsibility for their own country.
It means higher taxes - much higher taxes - without the services those taxes could have paid for is America had never started on its insane Republican downward fiscal spiral.
In order to start recovering from this nightmare, America needs to raise taxes an amount equivalent to an additional 4% of GDP before *any* new spending/restoring old spending.
I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to find a way to blame society's most vulnerable minorities for their self-inflicted problems again once they see that bill.
1
tiutomeApr 1, 2026
+1
Americans have short memories. As soon as the mess is cleaned up — even if it’s only 50% clean, the GOP will take credit and / or say “We could have done it better!” Who’s still waiting on a better GOP Health Reform Bill?
1
Ven18Apr 1, 2026
+1
Yeah the script is basically already out. Dems will win in 26 and likely 28. By then the economy will be in the toilet and Dems will be given a mandate to fix it.
The Democratic leadership and a like establishment president will do very little in the way of radical policy that the nation needs all the while not arresting and putting the prior admin on trial in the name of healing. They will likely continue the war in Iran and capitulate to Israel at every turn.
By 2030 little has been done to improve people’s lives and blame falls on Dems in Congress. The GOP have another wave election victory both federally and at the state level like 2010. The entire Dem agenda is stalled and with a new Census the GOP gerrymander states even further cracking Dem cities. The pass Trump SAVE act style laws at the state level to ensure election victory in swing states. By 2032 the next era of fascist runs as Trump without the baggage bets a likely old establishment Democrat and the cycle begins again but this time with someone who will finally say the US is done with democracy.

Well this would certainly recalibrate the party lean on this senate seat. Sounds like she's concerned that she might lose. Flee the ship you dirty rat.

In my opinion, she is prevaricating like she does all the time.

She said she would retire after term two and she was "shocked" to still be here, really believed she would do what she said she'd do.

She has no credibility. I think we will be foiling her plans by retiring her at the midterms.
