Suspension lifted for helicopter pilots who hovered near Kid Rock's home - Kid Rock said he thought it was “really cool” that they stopped to hover at his house. Asked about possible repercussions for the crews, he said, “I think they’re going to be all right. My buddy’s the commander in chief.”

Suspension lifted for helicopter pilots who hovered near Kid Rock's home
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Army pilots who hovered two helicopters near Kid Rock’s Tennessee home during a training run while he clapped and saluted have had their suspension lifted, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Tuesday. “No punishment.

We don't live in a rule of law based society anymore. We live in an autocracy. The only reason these pilots got let off the hook is they aided Trump's political agenda. Despicable.

It's been a bit yeah we really lucked into a two tier justice system when most of the people responsible for the 2008 crash went unpunished. It's gotten worse from there
57
Weedity Apr 1, 2026 +9
It's been this way long before 2008.
9
SSGASSHAT Apr 1, 2026 +6
Although that was a major milestone. The 2008 recession (or more accurately, depression) was never fully recovered from, and it helped both radicalize people and push those who weren't further into desperation, leaving people vulnerable to wolves prowling amongst the businessmen and politicians. And once they elected those wolves, they were already driven too crazy to realize that they were worsening their financial problems, and so we find ourselves today, several degrees worse than 2008, but on the very same track.

cptspeirs Apr 1, 2026 +30
Realistically the pilots aren't the problem here. Their punishment was just scapegoating. The people who gave them the orders to do that are the problem. That shit didn't happen in a vacuum. They didn't steal a f****** attack helicopter. They were ordered to do that.
30
lrpfftt Apr 1, 2026 +6
Wouldn’t Mark Kelly’s reminder regarding do-not-follow-illegal orders apply here?
6
cptspeirs Apr 1, 2026 +14
No? It's not illegal. It's just a stupid f****** waste of money/time/etc.
14
Villageijit Apr 1, 2026 +1
I mean it most likely was. They have to stay on a flight path like all airborne vehicles. So unless they cleared it with the faa and the base, which i doubt, it was illegal
1
cptspeirs Apr 1, 2026 +8
My point is that they were *ordered* to do what they did. They didn't go awol with a chopper and get suspended. They followed orders and got burned.
8
don_shoeless Apr 1, 2026 +2
Not all airborne vehicles have to stay on a strict flight path. If you check out a flight tracking app or site and check the paths of a few small private planes, Cessna's and such, you'll quickly see that they fly all over the place, often circling around random interesting spots. I'm not sure if anything short of scheduled commercial flights is actually required to follow a strict path.
2
dumptruckulent Apr 1, 2026 +1
No they don’t
1
dumptruckulent Apr 1, 2026 +2
No one ordered them to do this. They had to fly between Nashville and Fort Campbell and someone in the crew figured out Kid Rock’s house was on the way so they flew by. The pilots are absolutely at fault. It was stupid and they should probably lose their wings for it. But it’s not like this came down from the top.

Some of us never really lived in a law-based society. The ruling class doesn't need poor white voters anymore so the scraps previously given to them are now being withdrawn.

The fact that that skid mark is actually friends with the commander in chief tells the world all they need to know about the state of that country right now. In case it wasn’t obvious.

They were flying anyways, this in no way cost us more than if they didnt stop at his house. People need to start getting angry at things that matter not this shit...

Oh so it’s okay

TheFoxsWeddingTarot Apr 1, 2026 +29
Operational discipline. This isn’t a f’ing reality tv series. It costs 5,171 per hour to operate an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.
29
claremontmiller Apr 1, 2026 +1
Honestly, that number is significantly lower than I expected
1
TheFoxsWeddingTarot Apr 1, 2026 +1
I too was a little surprised. Not sure that accounts for the ground crew/traffic controllers. Frankly I’m surprised a lot more people aren’t involved when one of these goes off course.
1
claremontmiller Apr 1, 2026 +1
I would assume the crew/controllers are salaried, being military
1
SealTeamRat Apr 1, 2026 -7
Reeeeee trump supporters bad that is the only reason you are mad and it is hilarious lol They didnt take the chopper up to go hover at kid rocks house, get mad at something worthy. You just sound like a little kid that tattles on every little thing. "Dad hes looking at me!!!!! He wont stop breathing so loud!!!!!!" You are a joke.

No, they were getting flight hours doesnt matter where they were. Get mad at something real.
-29

-2
respectfulpanda Apr 1, 2026 +1
What, you mean that all people are treated equal? God damn Constitution. Nope, let’s just make sure we be extra spiteful against those pointing out that army helicopters should not be used for personal enjoyment. Where’s the next one Jeb?
1
Nizick Apr 1, 2026 +5
This was “simply” a fly over, until it isn’t. How long until an “accident” or “simply earning flight hours” turns into my buddy the commander in chief blowing up my rivals house. Or… I dunno. Showing up at polling locations. Your excuse allows this administration the slippery slope they need.

1
ericsmallman3 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I dunno. It's kind of hilarious that stuff like this is happening while F-35s are getting blown out of the air by Iranian drones made out of lawnmower parts. It's funny to think of a guy screaming "tell my wife I love her!" while he's wearing a Five Finger Death Punch shirt.

Kid rock is a piece of shit and doesn’t give a f*** about troops. I did an event with him. During his “performance” a kid in the audience threw his dress uniform jacket at kid. He put it on on stage and the kid was drunk and they all weee happy. Until his commanding officer came over to him an had a little chat. After the performance he runs up to kid and says hey I’m in real trouble if I don’t get that jacket back and kid just said f*** that you gave it to me and jumped on his bus while his security pushed back the serviceman. F*** kid rock

Donald Trump does not have friends. He doesn’t have a sense of humor that doesn’t involve cruelty. And I can’t imagine him with a pet. He doesn’t have the capacity for any of it. He *can’t* care for anyone, not even as a “buddy.”

It’s funny because there’s about a 1% chance Trump has ever heard a Kid Rock song in passing and a 0% chance he’s ever enjoyed one, he would likely recoil if you put on Kid Rock’s “music” in his presence, but that doesn’t matter to Trump. The only requirement for Trump is that you like and praise him. You can be the little pimp, the kid rocking or the bat shit insane Kanye West. If you have any public clout at all and you praise Trump, he’s your buddy. That’s it. What does that tell you about Trump?

Ok so, as long as it wasnt pre planned with kid rock its fine. Dude lives in a giant replica Whitehouse on top of a mountain. If they are flying through for training or any legit reason, its not that big of a deal if they checked it out. Any dude would want to do a flyby. And its not like our military is never deployed to personal palaces. They do that kind of a lot actually. This is, unfortunately, valuable training.
