The Swiss electorate will vote on parliament's decision to relax restrictions on the export and re-export of war materiel.

"The relaxation of the War Materiel Act allows a “total free pass” for exports to 25 countries, including the US, the committee criticised in a press release. At the same time, it explicitly prohibits the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, which has been attacked by Russia." You can always trust the swiss to do the ethically wrong thing.

I completely agree. Besides, with a favorable decision this could solve some of Ukraine's difficulties with a certain deficit in armament

(I just copy what I wrote on another sub) Unfortunately not, as this initiative comes from the right; arms exports to Ukraine would still be exempt. >And what is “particularly offensive” is that Swiss weapons may be supplied “to countries such as Saudi Arabia”, “but expressly not to Ukraine”. https://www.plattformj.ch/artikel/242276/ Fortunately, the necessary signatures have been collected so that we can vote about it. Could the Swiss not export to the Saudis and they then supply it to Ukraine? Especially with how Ukraine is helping the Middle Eastern countries? Use the Saudis as a proxy to get war materials to Ukraine is what I am trying to get at here.

From what I have seen online, starting in March 2026 the Swiss stopped exporting arms to them apparently. Thats public information that was provided, but you and I both know that could be a lie and they are circumventing that somehow.

Countries like Germany wanted to send Swiss made ammunition for air defense systems from their stock to Ukraine but the Swiss parliament said no. After that the Swiss arms industry panicked. For good reason.
