I like how the article says the decision had nothing to do with her politics but then they spend half an article hypothesizing how it could have been about politics.

Not at all correct, in the U.S., the fairness doctrine was repealed in 1978 by Reagan, which repealed laws requiring news to make a good faith effort to be unbiased. It was around since 1949
3
the_real_mac-t3 days ago
+3
That's not what the fairness doctrine was about. And even if it was, it only applied to broadcast media, not newspapers and magazines (and wouldn't have been applicable to the internet either). Please do your research when you post things like that.
Serious media organizations are still bound by ethics rules and guidelines. Reuters. AP. Times. The Guardian. NYT. WSJ. Bloomberg. BBC. When such organizations report, they have to base it on facts. And yes, those organizations also publish opinions. Those are clearly marked as opinions.
Is there bias on the reporting? Sure. It's done by people, after all. But when you see the same reports coming from both a left-wing paper (let's say Guardian) and a right-wing one (The Times), you get a better idea of where the middle ground might be.
