Absolutely incredible movie. Anyone who is a fan of Ghibli films and somehow missed this, go watch. Up there with the best.

such a unique animation style, really captures the emotion in those transformation scenes. takahata always had a way of making the visuals resonate deeply.

If you want something in similar style, try and check out *In this corner of the world*. The premise couldn't be more different (Hiroshima during WW2), but the animation style is quite similar. Not to mention that it completely breaks me towards the end.
