talking to ppl after they gave you a cig

sometimes i (20f) like to go out in late evenings and look for cool looking girls w the same vibe and ask if they have a cig for me. then we talk and often end up exchanging ig. my question is very random but do you guys also do that? i only now thought about how some ppl find that maybe annoying lol do y’all go “stranger searching”? i love the lil thrill

One part I miss about smoking is the random conversations. Bumming a smoke or giving somebody one was defineately part of that.

I smoked my first cigarette when I was 4. My whole family smoked. There would be longs in the ashtray and me, getting up in the middle of the night, would smoke them then.

Not a smoker but to me it seems like it would be quite rude to bum a dart off someone and then *not* talk to them

I'm the opposite. I smoke if you bother me for a smoke and I give you one, it's mostly so you go away.

Okay, that's fair. Being a non-smoker, I would accept that. What I would not accept is if you got a cig off me and broke it in 2 in front of me.

i quit a month ago, but i do miss the smoker camaraderie sometimes! and the excuse to dip out of a social situation or service job (back when i was a barback/door security) for 10 minutes to recharge, lol my lungs are damaged now so insert the cautionary statements you always get from former smokers (and will probably disregard the way i did when i was your age, no shade), but, just, yanno, doing my due dillies

They always used to give smokers a 5-10 minute break at my work, but couldn't justify giving non-smokers that same 5-10 minute break because 'they didn't need it'. I was always tempted to say I am just going out for a smoke, and then pulling out a musk stick.

I met the group of guys I still play DnD with 15 years ago when I went out for a cig. Dude walked up and asked if he could smoke with me so he didn't have to smoke alone like a "Steven Glansberg". Second question asked me if I smoke weed. I said yes and we been best friends ever since.

The first cigarette impression is a search of bind when connection is heightened. Tough times are comin and we need each other out here. If you know what its like not having that one smoke you feel you get cheated out of and someone walks up, pops his pack and says "You look you need one of these" I light up and the conversation starts. Someone gives you that one cig at the moment of your lowest, the time to become smoke travelers is to at least stay in company with one that seen you worth of giving you that cig.

There's crackhead, homeless and drunk everywhere where I live. 5 minutes walk and I could get asked 10 to 20 times depending on the time of day.

Can't relate; when people bum a smoke off me, I pray they keep walking. My cigarette times are when I want to be alone and have my ritual in silence.

Yeah, we do, but we rarely exchange contacts. You meet a dude with the same attitude by accident, you joke around, drink, exchange sad life stories, do some crazy shit together and you never see him again. We know it's a one night friendship, as our lives are already filled with social obligations. Some of the best friends I ever met, we still don't talk sometimes.

I got to know many coworkers during company meetings when we got breaks. The same crew would beeline outside and find the spot. Built many good relationships over the years with people across the country.

I don’t mind for the most part, but kinda weak if you solely look for girls to bum cigs off of. Might as well buy your own pack and offer them to smokers yourself.

This is like 15 years ago, but when I was backpacking in Europe alone I would bring a back of cigs around with me and ask people for a lighter to start a convo. Always worked because they’d hear my accent and when I said I was from NYC it usually started a good conversation.

I'm a guy, and used to smoke, but never went to bum a smoke from a guy for the purpose of meeting him. I'd be happy to chat afterwards if he felt like it of course. Now of course I have tried to chat up a woman via asking for a light or a smoke though.

Yeah I do that with people but we're usually attending the same show or something, I don't go up to random people going about their day and ask for a cig.

Nope small windows for friends excist being male. The ones you grew up with thats concreted. Then the professional ones are not that close. Drinking buddies exist but that it really male friendship. Some ppl make friends at the gym. I dont know how but yh men are like sharks just roaming around living day to day
