> “One of the first things she did was take me to meet her dear friends in the White House,” Danson said. “Bill — Mr. President — took me around the corner, and there were three Secret Service agents behind him, all of them looking at me. The president asked me what my intentions were.” > The “Cheers“ star then turned to Bill and asked, “My first question is to you, Mr. President: Do you think that was fair?” > “No, but it was effective. And I didn’t think I had to be fair,” Clinton replied after a brief silence. “As it turned out, you became the best thing that ever happened to her.”

This reminds me of a great story from my colleague who was an intern at the WH during the Clinton administration after the Monica Lewinsky shitshow. My colleague looks strikingly like the amazing ML. Whenever she went through security to get into the WH, people would always look or comment on the similarities. On the last day of her internship, like all the other interns she got to shake Clinton’s hand. This was their interaction: Clinton: Thank you for your service, please tell your parents how proud we are of you. And I’m sorry if you received any unnecessary comments. Ex-Colleague: I’m sure I got less comments than you. …and yes, secret service laughed at that. This former colleague is amazing and her wit is unmatched so I 100% believe it. Plus I heard this story in like 2009.

Haha it's so funny how he ruined Monica's life

He hurt her but I think saying “ruining her life” completely discounts the work she’s done over the years to help empower survivors. It’s probably not the life she would’ve chosen but it demonstrates how strong of a person she is and she made lemonade out of some rotten lemons.

There was a period there in the 90's that were really hard for her, even if she's grown into a great person, I'm sure she'd wish she didn't have to go through a suicide attempt for example

part of it was her treatment by the media

Jay Leno would have been forgotten about much earlier than he has been if not for her. He made jokes at her expense for years.

I keep hearing this about Leno but he didn't make fun of her anymore than anyone else. Heck an NPR comedy show I listen to and am listening to old episodes of was still making fun of her in 2006.

Agreed it wasn’t easy but even she has come out to say she’s grateful she found so much inner strength as a consequence. Not saying she’s grateful it happened, just that she’s happy it’s not becoming the thing she’ll only be known for.

"Danson started off by telling the audience that his wife has been close with the Clintons “since the early days” — and that she used her friends in high places to test his character on one of their first dates." Imagine using the Clintons to " test someone's character "

I’m not sure asking,”Are you gonna hit that shit” constitutes questioning his intentions.

Why would Big Beautiful Bill even question Ted Danson about such a thing? The guy is clearly gay, he married Whoopie Goldberg at one point ffs.

It’s still shocking to me that forty years of propaganda can absolutely melt the brains of stupid people. This species is a disaster.

It’s really amazing. Hillary Clinton especially was an extremely devoted and dedicated lifelong public servant. She lived her entire adult life under intense investigation, but her record was so clean Republicans had to invent a fake email “scandal” from scratch to sink her presidential campaign. But still, so many people, especially people on the left who say they care about the causes Hillary Clinton spent her entire life working on, think she’s some kind of corrupt, nefarious, house of cards style operator. It’s really sad that even people who do not consume conservative propaganda formed their opinion of Hillary Clinton based on Fox News lies.

She's super rich and wildly out of touch with the people. I say that as 2016 Clinton voter. Dems need new leaders who aren't historically unpopular.

She’s really not wildly out of touch with the people. Everyone who has ever actually worked with or met Hillary Clinton speaks very highly of her, and says that she is extremely smart and genuine. The media presented her as wildly out of touch, and you bought it because you hate women.

Here are a couple articles about how women can defeat Republicans. https://19thnews.org/2025/11/democrats-women-elections-affordability/ https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/chasity-verret-martinez-wins-democrat-louisiana-special-election-trump/ I hate losing to Trump and MAGA candidates.

Insane that valid criticisms of Hillary, get spun into this bullshit. “The media presented her as wildly out of touch, and you bought it because you hate women” She was a terrible candidate with bad policies who failed to campaign in the parts of the country she needed to win. I hate her because she supports war in the Middle East that killed my family members and her husband created policies at home that killed my friends. They’re both evil out of touch ghouls and trying to paint criticism of them as misogyny is laughable
-2
tooolongdontread 5 days ago +6
Of course there are valid criticisms to make of Hillary Clinton and her 30+ year political career. But you are not making them. You are, like almost everyone else in America, judging her by the lies of the conservative propaganda machine. It’s legitimately insane to say that Hillary Clinton 2016’s campaign had bad policies. Clinton had a more extensive policy platform than any candidate to ever seek the job. Her positions were all extremely well reasoned and detailed, they took into account political realities, and they were clearly formed by the experience Clinton gathered over a lifetime of fighting to improve healthcare, education, and everything else that matters to Americans. You can nitpick those policies, you can say she didn’t go far enough or was too timid about specific issues, but “she was a bad candidate with bad policies” proves that your opinions are not reality based. Clinton’s record as Secretary of State is very fair to criticize, and there were real reasons there to make people question what kind of president she would have been. But, again, that’s just not what you are doing. “She supports war in the Middle East” is not the opinion of someone who has actually spent time learning or thinking about it, it’s the opinion of an idiot. And that’s the problem, everyone like you just took Fox News at their word that Hillary Clinton was generally corrupt, nefarious, and more interested in acquiring power than actually helping people. But anyone who spent at least 10 minutes skimming her Wikipedia page can see that she was a sincere public servant who truly spent her entire life trying to help as many people as possible. And unfortunately it’s impossible to ignore the role that sexism played in everything that ruined Clinton’s presidential campaign. Even a lot of progressive, feminist women let deeply entrenched misogyny influence their personal opinion of the best female presidential candidate this country can ever produce, unfortunately.

She supported the Iraq war and Afghanistan war. I’d like you to explain how that’s not supporting war in the Middle East. Explain why you think that objective fact is actually just “conservative propaganda” No more deflections.

Seriously, any woman challenging in an election that visible would have to be squeaky clean. That’s where guilt by association comes into play. There was a readymade market of haters that came with her campaign. She isn’t perfect by any means. I think that she would have been a middling candidate, more than likely.”, but would’ve suffered that arrow to just get a woman on the wall of presidents. Barack was able to stay clear of true scandal in his private life for the most part because he was smart, sensitive blerd with a lot of cool, famous friends. Even in a hs class setting, he’s the guy who it was hard to legit hate unless you were… well, y’know. So scandals had to be orchestrated to invent outrage. Without that the 24/7 conservative news network would be nothing but sports & weather every 15 minutes between My Pillow infomercials & ads for catheters & collectible coins.

Have you read any of 30,000 of her hacked emails? Her thoughts and words put into text, not propaganda. Bill was one of my favorite presidents, so I’m not against the DNC. There’s much more than her emails that paint what a horrible person she is.
-8
tooolongdontread 5 days ago +22
Yes, I read so many of her emails, and it was when I realized I had been wrong about her my whole life. I thought she was corrupt, nefarious, shady, etc. Eventually I realized I had no substance behind those beliefs, I went looking for evidence to back it up, and I quickly realized that Hillary was as good as politicians in America get. Her emails confirmed that, absolutely nothing about them was controversial, they only proved that she’s a genuine person who really cares about trying to help as many people as possible. I have no idea what you are referring to when you say her emails were bad, but it’s worth remembering that the first big move Russia made to get Trump elected was trying to convince the left that Clinton was bad, and it worked.
