'Teen Mom' Star Farrah Abraham Says Daughter Sophia, 17, Is Writing an Autobiography

I feel awful for all of the Teen Mom kids, they were literally born on camera and raised on television. They will never be able to live a normal life

Some perspective about that series. I worked with pregnant and parenting teens back in the 90s in Chicago. Ours was a big and well known agency. Oprah and other tv folks always approached us about putting clients on their shows. It will serve to discourage other teens, they said to us. Except the teens we worked with didn’t need to be examples for suburban girls—if you get pregnant this is your life, tsk, tsk. They were human beings dealing with just a shit plate that had been handed to them and we were working to get them strong and functional. Our social workers were adamant that we wouldn’t participate in exploiting our clients. Other agencies around the country did the same thing. There were also laws about it if we received public funding and most of us did. We talked about it at professional conferences back then. Except, we couldn’t stop them from going straight to the girls and their families and that’s what they did. And they were right, the teen pregnancy rate dropped rather dramatically after 2009 and has continued to drop since then. Those young women *were* an example. And our social workers were right, too, that exposure is toxic.

I think Farrah might have been the more screwed up stories they featured. They should not have kept her on the Teen Mom franchise after her initial 16 and Pregnant episode.

This is one study that I don’t think needs to be done. I can’t think of a single family who has benefited from being on reality tv from extreme makeover home edition to the Duggars to Sister Wives to the Gosselins to dance moms. Nick and Jessica Simpson, it just doesn’t end well. (I realize not all of these examples had kids). At least the state of Illinois is passing laws to protect kids featured on social media financially.

Her style unfortunately reflects her family’s dysfunctional roots to a T. From DebzOG to uncanny plastic Farrah, Sophia isn’t breaking any branches on the family tree.

I actually do want to read Sophia autobiography but only after she’s adult and if she ever gets away from Farrah and can actually reflect on what being raised by Farrah was like

Are you new to the world? Anyone who watched MTV at f****** all, knows these people. Or you had a very sheltered life, but even then, Farrah pops up in the news every couple of years anyways. But you get them with that who? comment like you are a world celebrity. I’m not a fan of these people at all, just tired of judgmental pansies thinking they are better than others.

I honestly just feel its her dressing outlandish and shocking is the only form of control she has over her insane mother.

Love this theory, but probably not likely. She probably just wants to seem like the opposite of a sex object to not seem like her mother.

Not a single person who passed her on the street would know who she was.
