Are we entering the “ignore the problem and hope it goes away” stage of the war?

Somhlth Apr 26, 2026 +209
Trump entered that stage weeks ago.

“What problem?”

VediusPollio Apr 26, 2026 +44
That's exactly how Peter Griffin from Family Guy taught me how to deal with difficult problems.

LollipopChainsawZz Apr 26, 2026 +10
Who would even want to fly there right now?

Potential-Formal8699 Apr 26, 2026 +43
Iranians stuck abroad when the war broke out

Yeah now's a great time to go home

Not everyone has the privilege of being able to travel / extend visas in foreign countries indefinitely

kaamkerr Apr 26, 2026 +11
Yes. If you have family you haven’t been able to contact since March.
11
UnionBalloonCorps Apr 26, 2026 +1
Not true. Short outgoing phone calls have been happening consistently for my family through the war.

fury420 Apr 26, 2026 +13
Maybe that's why the article only mentions outbound flights?

Probably hoping the US shoots down a civilian plane.

You know the US shot down an Iranian airliner in the past before, right? Then gave the crew medals
17
UnionBalloonCorps Apr 26, 2026 +1
In 1988. In 2020, Iran shot down UAI Flight 752. Killing 176.

NotACyborg666 Apr 26, 2026 +1
Yeah it’s not like the current US administration is anything like the administration of 1988 /s

War? This is not a war. What are you talking about. The war is going great. Actually, it ended already. But there was never one. War? Pffttt.

China did just issue a warning for people to get out.

Surely these are one-way flights... no?
38
whachamacallme Apr 26, 2026 +17
Who in their right mind is flying in.
17
EquivalentSpot8292 Apr 26, 2026 +1
People abroad whose visas are up, people rejoining their families, people who were working overseas. It’s a big country with a lot of people and so a lot of unique circumstances that fill planes.
1
prettylittleredditty Apr 26, 2026 +4
Ngl, I would consider it. Wouldn't be able to afford to travel to that beautiful country when everything is fine.
4
AlienPearl Apr 26, 2026 +2
To Europe to ask for asylum.

nitzane Apr 26, 2026 +55
A quick glance at flightradar 24 shows no flights over such a vast country Also, they shoot anti air there pretty regularly these days so no airline in their right mind would go
55
Aerostudents Apr 26, 2026 +30
There was an A340 from Mahan Air flying from Guangzhou to Tehran which was flying over central Iran like an hour ago. But they turned off the transponder somewhere around Tabas. Currently there are also 2 planes flying over Iran.

nitzane Apr 26, 2026 +6
Oh. I stand corrected. Thank you, so Two planes probably carrying munitions and not people. In a 1500 mile wide country.

Lmao Corporation would do anything to not stop The money flowing in lol
-11
Atarinamco Apr 26, 2026 +12
Even if you wanted to take such a cynical view, you could've at least considered that no one is insuring such flights. And without insurance, it isn't gonna be worth flying a $200 million plane for negligible money. But hurr durr corporation evil and wants to kill everyone.
12
Wonderful_Bet_1541 Apr 26, 2026 +1
Woah woah lets not get too carried away now. Corporations have definitely proved in the past that they are willing to value profits over human life most of time. This is not up for debate full stop. In this specific instance though I do agree with you though.

Iranian leadership is going to flee the country in passenger airlines, dont be fooled
13
krazybanana Apr 26, 2026 +9
I don't think we're the fools here

ataraxo Apr 26, 2026 +2
That would be quite a gamble. Just because you board a civilian airliner does not mean you are safe from US warships. See Iran Air Flight 655.
2
AppleJuiceTwo Apr 26, 2026 +1
You’re implying the us would shoot down a commercial airliner on little pretense. I mean I hope not, but that seems outlandish
