Just watched the first two episodes of The Audacity.
It’s definitely not for everyone.
Personally, I’m into it.
It’s provocative, dialogue-heavy and there’s something slightly irritating about it while you’re watching. But weirdly, that’s exactly what pulls me in and makes me want to keep going.
I can totally see a lot of people dropping it for those same reasons.
But if you catch it in the right mood, I’d say stick with it — feels like the kind of show that might really pay off if you see it through.
Seen 1 episode so far - it seems like a mixture of Industry (but tech bros) and The White Lotus. I'm intrigued, will give it more episodes.

First impression of episode one-
Really entered wanting to love it- I think there is a great lane/need to really interrogate/lambast the tech ruling class. I was digging everything until the end reveal - a “Elon and a compromised therapist team up” was a bit of a letdown.
Obviously there will be escalation and tension and betrayal but the hooks aren’t in yet.
Succession’s big magic trick was making us care about the Murdock family. It turns out you really need to be skilled to make compelling anti heroes.

I feel like the opening credits for Silicon Valley had more jokes than an entire episode of this show. They got the cruelty and mean spiritedness.

I have just watched episode 1 and am going to watch episode 2. I don't understand its low score on IMDB. It looked a bit like a cliche-fest about Silicon Valley, but it's funny. I think Silicon Valley (the show on HBO) was a bit funnier until it became repetitive, but the cast and performances in The Audacity are better.
By the way, AMC renewed the show for season 2 even before the premiere which is suprising me and getting me worried about the ending with cliffhanger.

Seeing Lucy Punch speak with an American accent is jarring(Billy Magnussen's character's wife), most recently saw her in Motherland and Amandaland.

And Canadian Meaghan Rath is doing an English accent for some reason.

Haven’t watched this show yet but first time I saw her was a US sitcom called The Class, and I had no idea she wasn’t American.

I enjoyed this show so far but this was also a HUGE distraction for me. Her voice, accent and mannerisms in Motherland/Amandaland are so strongly imprinted in my head that it just completely takes me out here.

Second episode was better than the 1st IMO. I think this series will not have many fans since the likability factor is low on most of the main characters.

I’m finding the tone really off putting, unlike Succession or Silicon Valley. It’s too thin or something

Yea this show isn’t for me. No one on this show is likable in any sense. Usually shows about bad people try to make you like them in some way. This show fails to do that.
Maybe this is just bad timing for this style of show given how shitty the world is and anti-tech billionaire most of us are.

I wonder how something like Halt and Catch Fire would come across today, there are a couple of likeable characters but the lead male/female are not totally terrible but do lots of questionable things until the last episode. That show had a bit better balance maybe? Haven't watched it since it aired so could be bad memory on my part.

I *just* finished watching it for the first time. I was watching with a buddy online with weird scheduling so we started about a year and a half ago and finished 3 days ago.
I might not be the best litmus test because I'm not struggling with whatever is going on with The Pitt fans, but HACF is now one of my favorite shows of all time. I love the characters. The cinematography was often way better than it had any right to be. It was really fun trying to guess which innovation wave they were going to ride next. It was also a nice reminder of what tech/the internet used to be about before Web2.0 took off.
Spoiler for S3/4:>!That being said, the closest the show really got to being about tech billionaires was that one time Joe was John McAfee for a while.!<
>!I guess Donna/the VC storyline might count, but they make her look pretty miserable for most of the time until she realizes she wants to be part of the creative process again and while she's definitely rich at this point she's not billionaire rich.!<

Succession & Billions both had an entire cast of unlikeable characters. Seems to be following those shows more than Silicon Valley

I just watched the first 2 episodes, and I'm already hooked. Kind of reminds me of Succession, where everyone is super serious, yet absurd things are happening to the characters. Probably not for everyone, but if you like a slow-burn garbage fire, then this is the show for you.

There's something off about it. The characters aren't very interesting and the humor just isn't landing with me. I found myself bored for the most part. It seems like it should be better than it is. It reminds me of when I slogged through The Franchise. I hope it gets better.

Really curious about this one now, been seeing it pop up everywhere but wasn't sure if worth the time investment. The way you describe it being irritating but compelling reminds me of those shows that get under your skin in good way - might give it shot this weekend when I have patience for something that requires more attention

Exactly — I think you kind of have to give this show a real chance, go into it with that mindset. Otherwise, it probably won’t keep you hooked.

I wanted it to be good, but it wasn't. I was so bored, I was literally saying, "come on, be good, something happen!" But nope, nothing did. Honestly the acting felt B-Grade. It tried really hard to be quirky and funny, I guess, but it was just awkward and not funny at all. I tried, I really tried to like it, but nope. Got to the end of the first episode and I'd had enough. Won't be watching any more.

I feel like if you used the background music of the Studio for this show, it would better heighten the frenetic absurdity that this show seems to be aiming for.

This show, to me, seems to have come at the tail end of the Succession / Industry / Silicon Valley tech entertainment satire era. It seems redundant and will inevitably be compared to stiff competition, but who knows?

Ugh, probably won’t be well received here, but it was a tough watch for me.
We watched the first episode and it just didn’t click. It’s probably a “it’s not you, it’s me” thing because these types of shows aren’t really in my edit: wheelhouse except for a few rare exceptions.
I found the characters introduced this episode to be lackluster and didn’t really feel pulled in by them or the actors. Nothing by the end of the first episode really drew me in want to watch the next episode. The corporate drama aspects didn’t really appeal to me either, probably because I work in a tech/corporate setting already. I also didn’t find much in the way of humor in this episode, with the obvious dark comedy scenes feeling like they were trying too hard.
