I’m so confused about the reviews for AMC’s The Audacity on IMDB. There’s so many 1 stars but also a lot of 10s. I usually watch shows that are 70% + on Rotten Tomatoes so might give it a shot. But why is the IMDB rating so low? Is it that bad? Looks like it has a stacked cast (and I loved Billy Magnussen in Date Night!) Idk, not that I believe IMDB ratings are the most credible, just curious about what everyone here thinks
Only 300 ratings i wouldnt worry about it. Sample size too small

its terrible. a skewed modern dystopian view of people vibe-living in silicon valley. no amount of good acting (or pizza while watching) makes the story enjoyable, or even relatable.

I think a bunch of dumb tech bros a just review bombing it because their AI chatbot told them that was a good idea.

I have just finished watching ep 2 and I think I might be really into it. There are moments where this show juuust brushes at the boundary of 'selfish brats ruining each other's & their own lives in predictable ways'. But the main characters while often objectionable have just enough humanity or vulnerability(?) beyond their self interest to be kind of compelling.
The teenage children of the adults in the show bring more life and complexity than if it was only the grown ups. Their behaviour is being shaped by their parents casual neglect and they have enough independence to probably cause an upset in future episodes. Everett Blunck's character is amazing, I actually want to see what happens with all of them.
For me it's just the right amount of tension and dark comic moments, and more subtle relationship dynamics that make me want to keep watching. It's also just unpredictable enough.
The Palo Alto setting is an area and community / lifestyle that I know nothing about so that's part of it too. anyway if I ever rated things I'd probably give it an 8? 7.5? so far.

I don't think I made it through episode 1. It was so bad.

I haven’t gotten through the first episode yet. it’s not bad, but I was hoping for something more like Silicon Valley

Exactly. It has a weird Nip/Tuck feel.

I am 15 minute in to episode 1. This is the worst fog shit I have watched in ages. I hate it. I hate the characters. I’ll give it another 10 mins

Oh ffs, off. One star is generous. Shallow, unlikeable characters. Boring. Pointless. Not for me

Debating whether it’s worth getting an AMC+ subscription

If you get amc+ and end up not enjoying the show, I would recommend checking out Halt and Catch Fire.
