They got Bob Benson for this?

I'm just kind of wondering what the draw with this is. I quite liked the boys for awhile, but never had any appeal in their spinoff shows. This one is set in the 1950s. I wonder how much they're going to take punches at the silver age of comics or what their inspiration here for the series is besides " Jensen Ackles playing Soldier Boy on Solid Gold was a real hit with the audience so maybe we can get more mileage out of the brand here"

Their college spinoff did well, so i assume they're gunna keep exploring other ways to build off this IP.

It's already had 2 seasons

Tolkien-Minority Mar 30, 2026 +2
They did two seasons and folded it into the main series now. Without spoiling anything season 2 has a bunch of shit happen that makes it required viewing for the final season of The Boys.

Eh, I saw it and I imagine a single line by starlight can catch up the audience.

Thanks for saying this. I need to recap The Boys and start Gen V season 2 before the premiere.

I liked Gen V and don’t mind seeing where they go with this

FlopsMcDoogle Mar 30, 2026 +10
That was my initial thought about Gen V. I slept on it for a long time but finally decided to watch it cuz it ties in. It's actually a pretty solid show. Heavy on satire. I'll definitely give the new show a chance even tho it seems kinda unnecessary.

Hamborrower Mar 30, 2026 +16
Gen V is surprisingly good.  They slightly pull back on the gross-out shock value stuff in favor of character development.
16
TheKocsis Mar 31, 2026 +13
I did not notice the pull back

Prequels are exhausting

Gen V isn't bad and I'll be watching the last season of the main show, but I'll probably be passing on this unless I hear exceptionally good things.

mikethemillion Mar 31, 2026 +5
This show really isnt good enough to have multiple spin offs as well as prequels / sequels coming out of it...

The Boys is turning into Marvel

One just came in. So I got 1. Let's see how the rest of the week comes out

NOODL3 Mar 30, 2026 -3
Whatever your feelings toward The Boys, it's objectively funny (in an unsurprising, groan-worthy sort of way) that it started as a satire of never-ending commercialized super franchises and then took off and immediately turned into a paint by numbers never-ending commercialized superhero franchise.

Well, that's one listnookor.

idk if the world would continue spinning without the Gossip Girls. But other than that, you're probably right.

ich_bin_alkoholiker Mar 30, 2026 +14
You can not watch, homie.

CheecoBambino Mar 30, 2026 -9
I don’t think this is a fair response. Asking if it’s necessary isn’t asking if they need to watch it. These shows are expensive! I think it’s okay to ask if we need a third Boys spinoff instead of a new, original show. Especially since The Boys’ whole advertising schtick season one was that it wasn’t this major continuity you had to keep up with like the MCU

animalivebecome Mar 30, 2026 +3
In response to “these shows are expensive”.. it’s Amazon. They’re fine. They just hit gold with Project Hail Mary if they want to burn money on this stuff just to see what works and it gives people work then whatever. Apple+ and Amazon are different in that they’re in a unique position to make things that most other companies would pass on and if it flops it doesn’t really hurt them.

ArcticFlava Mar 30, 2026 +5
No show is necessary, typing such a question is a waste of their and our time.
5
ich_bin_alkoholiker Mar 30, 2026 -1
Or you know waste your time on things you actually like and not complaining about things just to complain.

CheecoBambino Mar 30, 2026 -4
Hmm - we’re on different wavelengths here. But for you and only you I hope they make these shows forever.

Not sure about all these spinoffs, they must perform well if they're making them but very silly if you ask me.

These actors look like they are all related to each other.

jimbobdonut Mar 30, 2026 -6
If James Wolk is in it, it will be canceled after a season. It’s weird that his most successful show as a main character was Zoo which was completely bat shit crazy.
-6
VoraciousChallenge Mar 30, 2026 -4
James Wolk? So the show is already cancelled? He was on a show called The Crazy Ones a long time ago with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I remember him because he was effortlessly keeping up with Robin Williams and he really impressed me.  I thought he was going to be big but the only time I seem to hear about him is when his shows are cancelled. But I don't pay close attention so maybe he's just been quietly doing good work on some show I haven't heard of either.
-4
Omatzus Mar 30, 2026 +5
He was a regular on Mad Men towards the end.

insertbrackets Mar 30, 2026 -3
I don’t have the emotional bandwidth to watch Boys stuff these days. It’s too much for me because of the parallels.
