I spent a Sunday putting together a Lego set and binging The Burbs and it was a very satisfying Sunday, so I’m glad it’s getting another season.

Next time you might add a croissant to round out the experience.

Peacock loves a season 2 but is allergic to green lighting a season 3

dantemanjones Apr 14, 2026 +13
Twisted Metal got a season 3. But they changed the showrunner and also got rid of Mike Mitchell :(

Despite it performing well I feel like I got my fill in season 1. Started up the first episode of season 2 and just thought "nah, I'm good"

Season 2 is better in every way, I recommend going back to it at some point

Great show

That doesn't bode well for dungeon crawler carl.

DCC is going to fail because they will not have the money to bring the book fully to life.
7
givemeareason17 Apr 14, 2026 +7
Live action is just f****** dumb for stories like that. It never translates well because the costs to make good adaptations of them are astronomical
7
Clithzbee Apr 14, 2026 +3
They should have gone the Castlevania route
3
Embarrassed_Radio596 Apr 14, 2026 +1
Live action is fine. Animated doesn't sell.
1
givemeareason17 Apr 15, 2026 +1
Right. We are going to get a live action scene of a woman who morphs her body into a flesh cow-catcher that attaches herself to the front of a locomotive and absorbs the blood of thousands of zombies. Sure.
1
Embarrassed_Radio596 Apr 15, 2026 +1
I mean, could absolutely be done, not even necessarily expensive if the filmmakers are smart. Or they can write around it, change the details but keep the scene. The fact remains that animation as a medium doesn't get near the same attention as live action. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.
1
givemeareason17 Apr 15, 2026 +1
Shit, what am I thinking? That's the third book, it'll get cancelled WAY before they get that far because they can't afford to properly adapt it and will alienate the core audience

This sounds great to me. A lot of shows tend to overstay their welcome. It should be completely normalized to do mini series with just 1 season, or having a run of just 2 or 3 seasons that tell a complete story with a complete vision. I can't stand all of the modern day series that were intended to be movies, got reworked into series. Which all just have a vision for 1 season, they blow their load and season 2 ends up just being a repeat of season 1 with similar storylines and repetitive arcs. Its why I dropped Stranger Things after the second season. Its also why I dropped Future Man after just 1 season. Same with Sex Education. Both series just felt like they should've been wrapped up after 1 season and didn't buy into their angle towards a second season. It felt like it would've been way better if they just wrapped their stories up in their finales. I didn't even bother which their second seasons.

Tasty-Traffic-680 Apr 14, 2026 +1
agreed. We haven't had a solid miniseries in ages. Give me a story that wraps up in a single season or two instead of dragging on an idea forever. I thought the remake of The Stand wasn't too bad and really scratched the itch. It's an old example but Prison Break was one of those shows that should have lasted a single season. Like wtf, they're not even in prison anymore and you still call it prison break?

I was afraid to watch because i absolutely love the movie. I guess I will give it a shot now

gottastayfresh3 Apr 14, 2026 +17
It's nothing like the movie really. But it does have a couple callbacks. It's worth a watch because it's not terrible. Bit of a mix between Burbs (as a concept) and Desperate Housewives without the sex.
17
insertbrackets Apr 15, 2026 +1
Yeah it has a very DH vibe.
1
dantemanjones Apr 14, 2026 +4
It has almost nothing to do with the film. It's like if someone gave you a three word description of the movie and told you to write a show based on that. It's decent, but don't go in expecting it to be anything like the movie.
4
Entire-Assistance842 Apr 18, 2026 +1
The movie is one of my favourites of all time. The show is entertaining in its own right and apart from a couple of callbacks it is its own thing which I think was the right way to do it. All the main actors/characters are great.

was it high art? no. but it was a fun binge and I'd watch another season.

GrizzlyP33 Apr 14, 2026 +10
I liked it a lot until the last episode. Felt like they added a bonus ep to setup a season 2, but it just fell flat in the end. Rest of the season was fun though so I’ll be back.

I don't love the actor who plays Keke's husband in this and I'm not convinced with their chemistry, but I enjoyed everything else about the show and I'd probably give it one more go.
6
HilaryVandermueller Apr 14, 2026 +2
Yes! I love Keke and the neighbors and wish we could just forget the husband, he’s such a nonentity to me. More Keke and neighbors!

I saw this video with chemistry and on this alone I may watch the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZINiiOz1bfo

We just started this show tonight and that was the first thing my wife said - they have zero chemistry together.

I enjoyed the first season and I am so happy that it got renewed for season 2, season 1 ended with cliffhanger.

now renew stumble, bastards

SaulsAll Apr 13, 2026 +9
I enjoyed the first season, and they left it open for a season 2, but I dont know what they will do for it. Are they going to go to another neighborhood? Are they going to discover another series of weird occurrences in that neighborhood, but with no strange family to suspect?
9
tj1007 Apr 14, 2026 +10
The conspiracy with the HOA is enough for another season. Getting back the kidnapped friend, fighting them for the house Alison legally left them when the others are claiming it was supposedly left for the town. Then as b plots, there’s the whole thing with the husband who died in the freezer. She never filed paperwork for it and her kids were told a funeral would eventually happen. I’m sure they’ll have questions about it. And the other neighbor whose wife left her. I also suspect the husband’s parents are involved as they were good friends with the president of the HOA. I imagine that would be another twist they bring up. Lots of content strictly in their neighborhood to explore.

fadetoblack237 Apr 14, 2026 +8
It's like people didn't watch the show. I was *craving* another season after the season 1 cliffhanger.
8
SaulsAll Apr 14, 2026 -7
Sure, there's places you can go plot-wise, but that isnt "The Burbs," which is about weird neighbors and strange occurrences leading to rumor and crazy activity. The neighbors are known. The house is known. It becomes just a crime sitcom.
-7
tj1007 Apr 14, 2026 +4
The HOA stuff is just that though? It seems like it’s basically some sort of cult. They’re still behind some weird shit. They haven’t really fully uncovered that story to the point where it’s known.
4
SaulsAll Apr 14, 2026 -1
More to a story is not more The Burbs. The HOA stuff is not more of the same. We know the neighbors and thus the entire premise and heart of the show would be gone. Adding in a cult with lots of new people isn't the same at all.

Medoxor Apr 13, 2026 +8
I'll be watching. I enjoyed the first season. I am surprise it got renewed though. I hope it stays that way and not end up like Dexter Original Sin or Uncoupled.

ExcellentDish80 Apr 14, 2026 +3
I wanted to love it, I only sorta liked it. I like the actors and the idea around it, so I’ll watch season 2.

Ziekfried Apr 14, 2026 +6
Quit half way through. Sorry Collin Robinson. I think the main characters are the worst part (jack and keke). He’s not believable in the role at all really and she’s certainly not acting like a lawyer lol. Imo they called it the burbs to get ppl to watch it but it’s barely like the burbs or maybe ppl forgot what living in the burbs was actually like.

mjc1027 Apr 14, 2026 +4
So I love the movie, honestly would I like this show?
4
Deep-Assignment4124 Apr 14, 2026 +10
I’ve seen the movie about 4 times a summer for the past 10 years.  It’s one of two dvds in our camper.   The show is worth watching but not close to the movie.

alrighthamilton Apr 14, 2026 +4
The Burbs has been my fav movie since I was a kid. I thought the show was fine and good enough that I'll check the second season out, but it doesn't scratch the itch of the movie and is very much it's own thing. Tangentially related at best. I suggest giving it a try if you're looking for something to watch, but dont expect it to recapture the magic of the original Burbs. I dont think it's even attempting to do that.

>honestly would I like this show? It doesn't know what it is yet. It's not the movie for sure. It feels like season two is going to shape up to be [redacted] Edit: I can't do spoilers on mobile?

nowhereman136 Apr 14, 2026 +5
I think the biggest problem with season 1 was that it ended on a cliffhanger. It was obvious there were more villains involves but the main characters were annoyingly not seeing it. Plus I don't care for season 1 cliffhangers. They should really be saved for when there is already a confirmed next season. It was good but I wouldn't be too sad if it didn't get a second season. The creators are lucky they are getting one otherwise they would just be pissing off fans for writing a cliffhanger
5
JustDay1788 Apr 14, 2026 +1
most streaming shows generally end with cliffhangers these days
1
nowhereman136 Apr 14, 2026 +2
They really shouldnt. at least not until a follow up season is confirmed. Stranger Things did it right. Season 1 and 2 ended with a little teaser for more seasons but not a cliff hanger. After it became a hit, season 3 was able to end with a cliffhanger because they were already given the go ahead with season 4. and so on. Planning for future seasons is one thing, but focus on making the show youve already got as complete as it could be

It really wasn't anything like the Tom Hanks movie that holds a special place in my heart but it was still entertaining and funny. I also have a girl crush on KeKe Palmer and find her immensely talented.
2
CheruthCutestory Apr 14, 2026 +4
I am shocked. I heard no buzz for this. But I am happy! It wasn’t a perfect show. But I loved the cast. Especially Keke and all the neighbor crew. It was mildly amusing. I had fun watching it and guessing the twists.

>Peacock is staying in The ‘Burbs, renewing the breakout suburban mystery comedy series, starring and executive produced by Keke Palmer, for a second season. >The pickup comes two months after The ’Burbs‘s high-profile launch on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 8. Promoted with spots during the game on NBC and Peacock, all 8 episodes dropped on the streamer right after. As a result, The ‘Burbs had the highest Day 1 for a Peacock original ever.

MGD109 Apr 14, 2026 +2
I mean, that's true, but that's part of an existing franchise with its own fanbase. Plenty of people just turn up for the prospect of seeing the Xenomorphs in action. It operates on different rules compared to fledgling TV series, based loosely on largely obscure cult movies.

Ohh now I realize why Regal showed the original movie last week as part of its April laughs series. It seemed like an odd pick amongst all the others.
