I just finished the 1st season and it really was brilliant. The early episodes were soo cringy and a bit hard to get into but the payoff at the end was just brilliant. Excited to continue.

Trixie did a great recap video of the show. She even appears in this season! https://youtu.be/3AOGB9aGYPc?si=hbYCAmPpo3GSeETY

I just rewatched the entire series as preparation, it is top tier cringe, it's kind of amazing Lisa made her character so unlikeable for most of the series.

"Forever diametrically opposed yet supportive, Valerie’s exuberance can’t exist without Jane’s practicality. They are the Joy and Sadness combo from “Inside Out,” bound together through the trial by fire that is life in Hollywood. " Do... do media critics not know the drama/comedy masks that have been used in theater for hundreds of years and instead have to use Inside Out as a reference? "much like buzz lightyear from pixar's 'toy story,' Tom Hanks and the rest of the crew of Apollo 13 are 'space-men'"

Much like Leonardo DiCaprio in a robe, Odysseus and his crew seem to be facing One Battle After Another.

The absolute audacity of using a recent reference in your internet article, instead of callbacks to ancient theater practices.

It's not just ancient theater practice the comedy/tragedy masks are such a universal symbol for theater it's the icon for turning on theater mode on like, an apple watch, but sure a ten year old cartoon is a more topical reference.

That sentence has the smell of AI. Not enough for me to be sure, but insane comparisons are so common with it...

I don’t think it’s AI. I’m sure there’s a term for it, but there’s definitely certain writing style where like, it’s obvious that somebody was paid money to write it.

I’d never heard of this before. I looked it up on IMDb - it says it started in 2005, is that right???

yea they've done 1 season every 10 or so years. it doesn't get high viewership but is critically adored.

Second season has Seth Rogan starring as himself in an acting gig based on the events of the first season, so the episodes with him felt like a demo version of The Studio. If you liked The Studio and want something to tide you over until season 2, please watch The Comeback. It does take a few episodes to get started but once you key in to the characters and their dynamics, it really takes off.

I never heard of this show.

The timeline on it is bizarre. First and second season came out in 2005, and 2014 respectively. Roughly ten years (give or take) between each season. That's basically unheard of in North America.

She's talked about it on Conan's podcast, sounds like it was a case of one powerful executive at HBO not personally liking it. Each season got good reviews and ratings.

Crazy. Although it’s not the same, it kinds of reminds me of Wolverine and The X-Men.

Yes. This is shocking and bizarre, but I’m happy for its fans.
