Not terribly surprised, the "test" in the show is actually a more interesting set up for a spy thriller than what the show actually focuses on.
Was a kind of fun, if dumb, 1 season.

And even season 1 felt like it had too many episodes. I generally liked it overall but once they explain the core premise it slowly ran out of steam. For a concept like that, it was probably better to keep it sweet and short so we don't all realize the holes in the concept.

They did the type of thing where they like just lazily keep revealing everything to keep moving the plot along. Like oh by the way the ex-girlfriend doctor knew about the implant, the retired FBI mentor turned restaurant guy knew about the implant, everyone know about the implant the whole time except Simi.
Don't quote me exactly on all that but yeah when the ex girlfriend's cabin ended up having a basement for tracking simi it just didn't really make sense. Like the Doctor is questioning the drug dealing doordash guy who's being extorted into his role and just like, accepts his non-answer? Not to mention people like Simi's character should have tremendous profiling abilities and should have picked up that sooner? No, because the issue is that would have made the show shorter and shown that they had an endgame from the start.
Also the faraday cage meeting room. Like yes those exist and that would in the moment block any transmitting signals...but you're telling me this extraordinary tech has no ability to like way until it receives an ack signal back before transmitting all of the stuff it wasn't able to send before? Not to mention if they're this dialed in to the man's brain you're telling me they can't access his memories? Or otherwise get no indications or clues what happens during those moments of no transmission? So Simi's brain had perfect endurance to like never expose what happening in those meetings until it was too late for a bad actor to react? All of that is pretty lazy, and with better writing they could have shown Simi and the FBI or whatever they were improvising in realtime to deal with it. Or they could have slower paced Simi's enlightment as to what exactly was happening.

I don't bother with any superhero movies. I don't know enough about the material, and am not sitting through 40 other movies to figure out why I should care what's going on.
Also, I kinda hate the look of them. All I see in effects-heavy scenes is animation with some floating human heads attached.
Netflix did a good job with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the rest. But that's because they didn't do a lot of effects, so I don't feel like I'm watching a cartoon.

The only reason Ruffalo Hulk hasn't gotten his own movie because Universal still owns the film rights. It's a different situation.
19
cooscoos3Apr 16, 2026
+6
Disney owns the film rights but Universal owns the distribution rights. So Disney could make a Hulk movie anytime they want but it would have the Universal logo in front of it and Universal would get a huge cut of money, plus streaming. Disney doesn’t want to do that.
6
riegspsych325Apr 16, 2026

but if Disney can buy Fox, have Marvel work out a deal with Sony to use Spider-Man, and let Paramount distribute some of the first few Phases, why can’t they strike a deal with Universal?
I think the real answer is they just don’t see a Hulk movie being worth it. Case in point; they made a legacy sequel to Incredible Hulk but swapped him out for Captain America

I don't think Liu is a bad actor, perhaps a bit generic. But it's not like the various Chrises always bring more to the table tbh. However, yes, Leung was one of the few excellent Marvel villains and yes, he did steal every scene he was in. That's just what will happen when you hire a legendary actor like that.
Letting Shang Chi fizzle out was stupid anyway. The movie was popular, made good box office and had good reviews. Yet they seem completely uninterested in a follow-up. Sometimes the decision making there is baffling tbh.

> Yet they seem completely uninterested in a follow-up. Sometimes the decision making there is baffling tbh.
Marvel from 2020 has a bizarre strategy that throwing $200 million budgets at various one-off projects and *maybe* making a sequel. And if they do, it takes too long, like Thunderbolts underpeformed because most of those characters hadn’t appeared for about four years.
Meanwhile MCU Phase 1-3 worked so well because you had the Iron Man, Cap and Thor trilogies as the glue holding everything together.

I really appreciated Melissa Barrera's Michelle. Every single time it looked like her character would fall into a more traditional love interest or side story role, she remained a stone-cold agent.
Off the top of my head, >!she reveals her real name... that's actually another fake as part of the operation. If you thought the man from her past would be a recurring storyline (which it would in most other shows), too bad! Drowned in a bathtub instead. And, of course, instead of defying orders in the name of love when told to kill Alex, she just straight up stabs him instead.!<

It's *mostly* an anthology, so it's hit or miss. The first episode (The One) with Ed O'Neil and Dylan O'Brien and Pete from The Bear is by far the best. The selling point of the series was Jordan Peele as co-creator/writer/producer, but that first episode is the only one he co-wrote, and it shows.
Chonathan & Mulia & Barsley & Phephanie, the Steven Yeun one that I just spoiled, the only other that I'd consider worth watching. IMDB has every other episode at 5.5 or worse and that's... accurate.

I did find that the 2nd episode explained a lot of questions I had.
But I also didn't finish the series so apparently these explanations weren't enough to keep me interested

They canceled The Copenhagen Test and fired a bunch of people in Twisted Metal.
It's like Peacock is trying to lose my business.

I watched the whole thing and it was fine, but hollow. For a sci fi spy thriller, there wasn't a lot to mentally chew on. Once it was over I completely forgot about it.

I liked it. It had a fun story and solid action and didn't take itself too seriously like other spy shows. Sort of had Alias vibes from back in the day but without the 24 episode bloat.

>*The Copenhagen Test* (2025–2026) achieved high viewership upon release, with 1.1 billion streams in its first few days, placing it as the 3rd most-watched show in the U.S. and #1 on Peacock. The spy thriller, starring Simu Liu, was described as a "Streaming Success," driven by its high-stakes premise and strong performance.
So why did it get cancelled? Clearly, it's not about the viewership?

I started watching it. It was an OK premise
Felt like it could have been a decent 1hr 30 film on a streaming site, even same cast
I stopped watching after about 4 episodes
Nothing in particular but just wasn't vibing with me or that I cared enough about what was happening

This show was SOOO plot hole ridden it might as well been a block of swiss chesse
So the main character "has been hacked by nanites" and are recording his every move and thing he says.
Yet this super spy group can't figure out that they lose signal EVERY time he goes onto the subway for 15 minutes EVERY night to speak to his handlers..
The entire idea is f****** absurd no nanite would have the transmission capacity to get a signal outside the body the human skin alone is a pretty good wave limiter as it is.

I think it was a fun watch. I wish Hannah Cruz (Rachel, ex fiancée) had more screen time, I think she’s brilliant in everything she does. Not that anyone will find this as funny as me, but she originated the role of Robyn Martinez in the musical The Connector, and one of her songs in that is called Cassandra. I liked the coincidence. She has a killer voice and is currently playing Svetlana in Chess on Broadway, I highly recommend listening to her sing literally anything
