I saw The Devil All The Time at like 2AM last night and I personally really enjoyed it. It was an interesting movie.
Looking for other suggestions of southern goth movies. Anyone seen these 2 yet:
\- The Skeleton Key
\- Sinners
If yes pls let me know your thoughts. I’m also considering Eve’s Bayou. Although I’d like to start with the scarier ones cuz that’s kinda my thing.
Update(8hr later): just watched Skeleton Key
Skeleton Key is solid, pretty creepy with the voodoo stuff. I'd honestly watch that one first if you want the scarier route. Eve's Bayou is more of a slow burn but still worth it.

Eve's Bayou, Beloved, Stoker, What Josiah Saw, Venom--it's more of a teen slasher
Eve's Bayou is probably one of the most Southern gothic movies I seen though. It's straight Southern Gothic.

Thanks! Eve’s Bayou is going to be my next watch after Skeleton Key. Of all those you mentioned I’ve only seen Stoker, so I’ll definitely check out the rest.

Someone else recommended Winters Bone so I’ve added it to the list. Looks good. Angel’s heart is def not Southern Gothic but great nonetheless. I think I’ve seen almost every movie DeNiros been in. I used to have such a crush on him lol

Sinners is great. I'd also recommend Lawless, although maybe it's a bit more of a gangster movie than Gothic.

If you haven't yet seen it: John Boorman's **Deliverance**.
The original **The Texas Chain Saw Massacre** is considered Southern Gothic Horror.
The 1967 Horror-Comedy **Spider Baby** is a wild cult film.
Here's a pulpy Classic: **Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte**.
William Friedkin's last theatrical film is better than its rep: **Killer Joe**.
Not a horror film, but I'll recommend **Black Snake Moan**, a psycho-sexual drama.
Also a psycho-sexual Southern Gothic Drama: Elia Kazan's **Baby Doll**.
Here's a terrific Southern Gothic Thriller: **Blue Ruin**.
And for a truly great, moody existential film with a couple of wildly bizarre sequences that are weird enough to be horrific, don't miss John Huston's world-class Southern Gothic adaptation of the Flannery O'Connor novel **Wise Blood**.

Haven't seen Sinners yet but Skeleton Key is definitely worth it. And if you're into southern gothic, check out Winter's Bone. Different vibe but that eerie feel is there.

I recently discovered that there was a film genre called "Southern Gothic" and am still trying to figure out what it is.
All I know is that you should watch "Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" because this film is how I learned of the existence of Southern Gothic (and it's a fantastic film).

Sam Raimi's The Gift is worth a watch, though it gets a little janky in the back half.
